Galen Tue 23-May-17 18:55:54

I'm ok most of the time. It's just that today I'd nothing to occupy my mind except case files!

Galen Tue 23-May-17 18:54:35

cornergran Tue 23-May-17 18:01:49

flowers and hugs to all. A very flat day for many reasons.

PoshGran Tue 23-May-17 17:53:04

A high & low day.
Manchester.....
30 "littlies" - much self-imposed study - garden - Aran jumper inspection - check-in with friendly Kitcheners - plan self-indulgent evening.
(((((Hugs))))) to all.

Galen Tue 23-May-17 17:53:00

I'm feeling doubly down. The Manchester bomb and today is the 14th anniversary of husbands death

kittylester Tue 23-May-17 17:43:25

It's really lowering isn't it, soop? sad Although it sounds as though there have been some real acts of kindness too.

Maybe we will be more upbeat tomorrow.

soop Tue 23-May-17 17:18:18

There is a feeling of sadness hereabouts. For very good reason. I therefore feel that it is best to say farewell at this point. After tomorrow's ironing duties, I shall return.

NandG send your bus over here as my DH is at the moment obsessed with the Parish Council Emergency Pack (or lack of). They could enjoy themselves. Several Victor Meldrews in one bus would be interesting and we wouldn't hear them.

soop Tue 23-May-17 13:15:36

I forgot to mention that Oldg has done herself a back injury. It (the back) gave her discomfort throughout the teatime we shared. She believes that she needs to "keep moving."

The photographs are, as always, delightful.

Maw Read my lips...stay well out of trouble of the bitchy kind. It's not worth the pain. flowers

soop Tue 23-May-17 12:56:28

Maw I shall take a wee look to see why you're feeling in the dumps.

Elegran grin grin [grin blush hmm That's it in a nutshell.

Greyduster Tue 23-May-17 12:51:07

No energy in this quarter, corner; if GS wants to go to the park after school I hope there will be no requirement for running around (but why else would you go to the park?). Peace of a sort has been restored to Chez Duster and this time I did not have to build the bridges.

cornergran Tue 23-May-17 12:07:23

Some of our close family were in the arena on Saturday. We just never know, do we, what's coming next. I feel more and more sad about this atrocity, targeting children, it's left a weight in me.

Can I book a seat on your coach for Mr C please n&g? Why do they get obsessed in that way? His particular crime is focusing on the details of an incredibly boring meeting he attended last night. I now know what all these people I have never met said and could even repeat it if asked. Please can we have a loud sigh emoticon?

Energy needed to get on with the day. If anyone finds some please send urgently. smile.

annodomini Tue 23-May-17 11:29:36

The news of the Manchester atrocity is overwhelming. It's difficult to concentrate on anything else. There was a time when my GD regularly attended gigs at the Arena and I know that DS1 has been there too. I wouldn't be surprised if there were some young people from this village there last night. I remember all too well the aftermath of the IRA attack which fortunately caused no fatalities; but it was heartbreaking to see the devastation in and around the site of the blast. I hope ann doesn't have trouble reaching MRI today - at least it's quite a long way from Victoria Station and the Arena. They were taking many casualties there last night and emergency admissions sometimes put back the dates for planned surgery. I hope this doesn't affect the progress of Ruby's surgery.

Greyduster Tue 23-May-17 11:06:42

Thank you for the photographs, N&G - your boys are a great joy. I remember GS having handcuffs. We last used them in a play 'wot I wrote' for him at Christmas. I was the burglar and got cuffed. He mischievously ran off with the key! MAKE SURE YOU GET THE KEY, COOPER!!!

Sar53 Tue 23-May-17 10:56:20

Thank you for welcoming me to the kitchen. I too feel very sad this morning. My heart goes out to all the families caught up in this appalling act.

NanaandGrampy Tue 23-May-17 10:47:33

Sorry to hear DH has trodden into your bad books Grey but sympathise!!

Grampy is stuck reviewing the house sale contract and all that comes with it and I am not in the mood to listen to him witter on about oil tanks and death watch beetle or some such !! ( we are obviously buying a money pit !!!

I suggest sending out the local coach company to do a round robin collection of our men folk and drop them off...far far away!!

Sign up here !!

Greyduster Tue 23-May-17 10:06:54

Ann I hope you don't have too much difficulty getting to see Ruby this afternoon, although it is inevitable, and do give her my best wishes. She must be climbing the walls. I was moved almost to tears listening to the mum on the radio this morning who had been trying to find her daughter all night. What an absolute nightmare. Then I lashed out at DH for railing against some politician he doesn't like because I get fed up of his obsession with politics and sometimes his comments are like a stuck record, so we are not speaking. Now I know he will be expecting me to build bridges and I really can't be a***d. I have too heavy a heart.
Anyway, here is a photo of a mum who was busy trying to round up an unusually large brood of babies yesterday. She had her work cut out. It made me smile, but this morning nothing is making me smile. Sorry.

Bellanonna Tue 23-May-17 09:52:25

As you said (more or less) N&G, I don't feel like being flippant today and of course you're not a twit.
Ann do give our love to ruby and hope she's not too down. Perhaps she's had some positive news by now? Manchester will be safe but how sad for everyone there.
mawb don't give two hoots. I think someone needed a large dose of strong black coffee!

NanaandGrampy Tue 23-May-17 09:01:33

I have had my smile restored.... Jackson's Uncle Ben ( and big hero) is coming into school this week to talk about the Police. He is bringing a black maria ( do they still call them that) and a police dog. So there is huge excitement.

All week the children are trying to solve the mystery of the missing bike. The clues are ass follows :

1 large footprint
1 small footprint
a trail of oil
a missing bike
....and a banana skin !

Any help gratefully received !!

Anyway, Jackson got into character before school....I've added the pictures ! (Cooper is clearly not happy at being arrested !!)

Jackson plans on asking to borrow Uncle Bens taser !!!!
