Oh, Galen. How annoying was that? Hope the BBQ cheers you up, your grandchildren will love seeing you. Say 'hello' to Cirencester for me, spent a lot of time there before we moved.

cornergran Sat 17-Jun-17 11:35:07

Took my croissants to the garden and spent an hour sitting, contemplating. Done me the power of good.

So sorry, aggie, have been there, it's horribly painful. My 'medicine' of choice was ibuprofen and wine, as recommended by my dentist. grin.

When we had a very unwell dog we spread newspaper over plastic sheeting for a while. Only works in a small space, though, and we had a very small kitchen back then. Hoping for good news for your Sam, n&g, and a more solid output from the puppy, ann. Oh, just thought, the smell, you poor souls.

It is more than frustrating to not have a diagnosis, mawb, hope paw bucks up during the day. Take care of you, too.

As it's now past croissant time have brought some almond and lemon cake, lots of it, decided today feels like a cake day smile

Off out soon, the beach beckons and strangely it tends to be quiet here on. Saturday.

Last straw yesterday. Had an Ocado delivery scheduled for 6-7 pm. They rang at 6.30 to say my delivery would be late! Not until after 10pm?
I cancelled it!
I was in such an evil mood by then!
Today I've got to go to a BBQ in cirencester.
Family gathering.Dont want to go ,but as my dgc will be there, I'm going

annsixty your comment/question about which newspaper reminded me of an old old lady who lived in a Hansel and Gretel type cottage in the middle of a forest near my hometown . She was a fascinating woman, sister of a famous Scottish composer who had devoted her life to him and his memory.
Anyway, Dad who owned and ran one of the local newspapers took me out to visit her one day as her story was so interesting.
Hugely gratified when she told him his newspaper was the BEST and much better than any other Scottish paper.
That faded slightly when she told us why (no, not that!) apparently she used it to line her cupboard shelves, kitchen drawers etc and "it didn't go as yellow as the others" hmm

MawBroon Sat 17-Jun-17 11:23:52

Every sympathy aggie, sometimes you feel they could just take your whole head off don't you?
I had a similar problem over one Christmas and while I would not recommend this, paracetamol washed down with brandy was the only thing to touch it.
Fortunately the emergency dentist took the tooth out, but not until the day after Boxing Say.
We can ALL sympathise with raging toothache flowers

annsixty Sat 17-Jun-17 11:19:46

Poor you aggie I hope you get help soon flowers

aggie Sat 17-Jun-17 11:16:22

Please can I have a wee moan , face like a one sided chipmunk , emergency Dentist last night gave me antibiotics but said they take n48 hours to start working . I had tried to see my own Dentist but he had the day off and the emergency clinic didn't open till 8 pm ......... time for more Paracetamol I think

NanaandGrampy Sat 17-Jun-17 11:12:22

??? that made laugh ann !!

We have resorted to kitchen towel and the steam mop! Thank god for laminate floors !! Sam has obviously reached the point where he cannot consider passing wind without following through !! Apologies to those still enjoying a lazy breakfast !!

NanaandGrampy Sat 17-Jun-17 11:10:08

Morning!

Maybe it's the sunshine Maw , judging from the summer thread I started everyone has been up since dawn and sitting in the garden ( except for one poor lady from the Northwest who has her socks and cards on still...she did make me smile!) .

Poor Paw it's ok to feel ill if you know why but just feeling ill is horrible. Maybe the sun will perk him up too?

Enjoy your visit x

Iam we too have a dog who lives through food( although not at the moment) . We gave up worrying about the licking/sharing by grandchild 2 . Luckily both my daughters are sensible and don't subscribe to a germ free environment ? . Cooper especially feels that food is for sharing and can be found offering Sam a lick of his lolly !

Off to the vets now - fingers crossed it's just an upset tummy please x

As we kitcheners only know about matters domestic, can the collective wisdom on here advise which is the best newspaper for cleaning up puppy poop of the very runny variety. In this matter are the broadsheets still superior or should we go for tabloid as they seem better at soaking up....
I am sure N&G will also be interested.

MawBroon Sat 17-Jun-17 10:49:32

Still on my own? Was it something I said (like in another place?) ?

MawBroon Sat 17-Jun-17 09:21:49

Dogs and food and children grin
I used the think DD3 was a really good little eater until I saw her posting bits of sausage into the hopeful Labrador at the foot of the high chair. Then there was the ice cream cone in the buggy incident...need I describe it?
It is a lovely sunny morning and I must stir my stumps as DD1 plus DGS and DGD are coming this afternoon for the night and as I am sleeping in the little room the children have, I need to change one bed and tidy away my clutter childproof it. Paw had a bad night so I am leaving him to sleep. I don't want there to be anything seriously wrong, but cannot fathom why every investigation/examination comes up OK but he is so incapacitated and feels so rotten. An explanation might help with a way forward.
Today would also have been my mum's birthday - happier days.

Good morning, I had a jolly day n Chorlton with a good friend yesterday. Then our two year old grandson arrived at five, he's here till Sunday as his parents are away. We had a good time in the garden, bath, story time and bed by Seven. He slept twelve hours thankfully. He's playing with grandad while I have a quiet coffee and keep him and the dogs apart for a while. Big dog follows him, waiting to pick up scraps or lick his fingers in case of remnants. This despite any food being eaten in the high chair, face and fingers wiped, she is part Lab, you know, the lab part that lives for food. Smaller, younger dog has ambitions to include boys Teddy in dogs own collection of toys. We will all go to the park soon
Lots of cake and alcohol here and so early in the day ? I've some coffee in the pot and those special hot cross buns if anyone wants some. I know it isn't Easter, I agree they shouldn't be on sale, especially as I believe they are addictive.
Enjoy the sunshine, it's even arrived here in the north west ?

NanaandGrampy Sat 17-Jun-17 08:25:55

Its got to be bubbles for breakfast Chez Nana and Grampys !

Woke to some unpleasant sharing from Sam in the kitchen so its off to the vets for us. 36 hours of starvation have done nothing much !!

I am out for afternoon tea with my daughter later- her Christmas present that she is sharing with me. Add to that a blue sky morning and all is right with my world !!

cornergran Sat 17-Jun-17 08:21:26

Looking forward to that Pimms, gagagran, will go down nicely when I have feet up in the garden later. If anyone fancies one there are warm croissant and pain au chocolat on the side. Today's (very naughty) breakfast. Take care everyone.

Baggs Sat 17-Jun-17 08:03:38

? Here you are, gd, right on cue. Now relax and be easy on yourself.

Greyduster Sat 17-Jun-17 07:48:42

I could do with a large malt whisky right now.

Gagagran Sat 17-Jun-17 07:40:02

I think the kitchen has somehow gained an unwarranted reputation for being just tea and cake (nothing wrong with that of course) so I have brought in a giant jug of Pimms - now in the fridge. Please help yourselves and I do warn you it is fairly strong stuff. Maybe we need to let our down a bit today to show that we are not all ultra goody-goodies!

Greyduster Sat 17-Jun-17 07:14:39

Thank you Roses, but I think that New Dawn is a climber. This one is a HT. The closest I can get is one called Butterfly Kisses, which was launched in aid of a children's charity. Who knows, though? It's a beauty, that's for certain.

rosesarered Fri 16-Jun-17 23:00:30

Greyduster think your rose may well be New Dawn.?

Baggs Fri 16-Jun-17 19:00:11

I've just skipped over to Twitter and back, looking to see if jud has been active over there lately. She has retweeted a few things, e.g. about Grenfell Tower, so I guess she's allright. I could tell her yous've been asking after her if you like.

Charleygirl Fri 16-Jun-17 18:46:09

Jane you know of old that I am a troublemaker! I would not dream of changing.

ann I am so pleased to hear that Stevie is hopefully on the mend. He is a gorgeous bundle of fluff. I think better to keep it a family secret until nearer the date, he will find out soon enough and he will not like his plastic collar.

N&G I do hope that Sam is better in the morning. So sorry to hear that you have had to cancel your holiday but you would not settle leaving Sam with your DD.

annsixty Fri 16-Jun-17 18:40:42

The puppy (Stevie) has been back to the vet and is doing well. A bland diet for a few days and meds also for a few days. We aren't telling him but he is having his bits removed at the end of July.
He will "hump" anything in spite of his age.

NanaandGrampy Fri 16-Jun-17 18:38:19

We're planning a protest for Galens recycling if that helps Jane :-)

Jane10 Fri 16-Jun-17 18:28:28

Just thought I'd have a look in to the kitchen. I'd heard that its full of trouble makers. Very disappointing to find its full of Grans being Grans and doing Gran things.
Och!
