Ann I've always known it was so, but have never managed to formulate a suitable phrase to express it, from now on I will be using yours! Cheers winewine ! Hope the poorly pup recovers soon, he's little to be so unwell. Hope Sam gets over his tummy troubles n&g, sorry you're having to cancel your holiday too. We have our favourite, but it has to be said rather naughty, grand dog here for the weekend. She is currently lying in comfort in the sofa while the old boy and I are somewhat squished into the remainder. Indulgent us? Not much grin
maw there are some situations that only a good Scottish word like stooshie can fully describe!
Lovely photos dsized, do hope you manage to arrange a family one as well they're precious to have but so hard to set up.
soop I so admire your self restraint. I am never able to resist home made goodies and that is exactly what has made me the woman I am today i.e. several dress sizes larger than the woman I once was blush No wonder you looked so elegant in those photos and baggs those colours looked great. Proving the point that we don't need to look bland just because we are no longer as young as we once were. grin
morethan2 hope all goes as well as it can with your daughter in laws chemo, it's so heartbreaking watching someone you care about suffer. flowers
Well this post, punctuated by various interruptions, has taken so long to write that there's no reasonable doubt that it's alcohol o'clock right here and right now. Apologies to anyone I've unintentionally ignored , have a good evening everyone

callgirl1 Fri 16-Jun-17 18:09:52

I was only wondering the other day about Jud and Georgie. I do hope that Sam is soon on the mend, and that you don`t miss out on your trip to Scotland N & G, and that your grandpuppy is also soon better Annsixty.
Lovely photos Downsized, I keep wanting to call you Bella!

NanaandGrampy Fri 16-Jun-17 18:09:41

Unless the Lego was chocolate covered I think it's safe to say Sam hasn't eaten it Maw ?

Poor old thinks he's been naughty , as no food has been forthcoming. He's getting some rice and a hard boiled egg later and we'll see how he is tomorrow.

I'm gutted that we booked 2 hotels for out trip and be cheapskates frugal took the cheaper non refundable prices . ?

Sounds like a lovely day Downsized , enjoy that glass of something. By the way, San Francisco is a fabulous city to visit ?

Loved the cartoon Maw doesn't remind me of anyone in particular though wink

Do you need us lot to make a protest Galen ? I'm a dab hand at slogans.... I can see Maw tied to a green bin even as speak !

MawBroon Fri 16-Jun-17 17:45:38

How lovely to have your DD home even if for only a short time downsized
The world can be an awfully big place can't it?

I do wonder what it is with dogs and trainers, like children with their parents and other people. Like children, some dogs behave impeccably, can obey perfectly, respond without hesitation, jump into the car at a nod and never make a fuss.
With Mum on the other hand....... hmm

What progress with Sam, N&G and your "grandpup" Annsixty?
And while I am on the subject, does anybody body hear from judthepud and Georgie?

downsized Fri 16-Jun-17 16:50:43

Good afternoon dear kitcheners. I've had a lovely day with my beloved DD1 who is home for a brief holiday before she starts her new job in San Francisco (she is a radiographer specializing in MRI's).

We ran a few errands before having a very good lunch and a walk round the gardens that DH loved so much. I've added some pics. Still haven't managed to round up my four offspring for a family photo. It's so difficult with their working hours, so it might not happen. sad

Am now taking annsxty's theory to heart even though it is just a bit early for wine o'clock!

My delinquent dog (I do love him really) is going for a walk with his trainer at 6pm. She is trying to get him to walk happily on the lead without flying off in all directions as he does with me. grin

So if anybody cares to join me in a wine please feel free. I've also got some delicious 'mini stollen' from Lidl which I can't stop eating so do help me out.

Happy weekend to you all. sunshine

callgirl1 Fri 16-Jun-17 16:50:04

Thank you Soop, bless you xx

soop Fri 16-Jun-17 16:27:47

I'm logging off for today. We'll be looking after the home-baked table, at the village flower show in the morning. Get thee behind me Satan!

Thank you for your company. A wee pile of ironing awaits.

Take care. smile moon

Jalima1108 Fri 16-Jun-17 15:41:09

wine wine wine

but tea for me! brew

MawBroon Fri 16-Jun-17 15:39:46

In the interests of sanity I have formulated the Rules for Soop's Kitchen and the GN café.
They have been posted (unsurprisingly) on the thread of that name

"And Ve haff vays off making you obey!!"
Especially number 1 grin

annsixty Fri 16-Jun-17 15:38:10

Never, it's always wine'o'clock somewhere.

Jalima1108 Fri 16-Jun-17 15:31:45

I'll just go and quietly make the tea and coffee, unless anyone would prefer anything stronger?
Too early?

soop Fri 16-Jun-17 15:30:02

Bellanonna Sad that your trip has had to be postponed. A friend of ours has been ill for some time with a hacking cough. So far this year, MacSporran has managed to avoid nasty bugs. His next trip to the consultant at Oban hospital is arranged for mid week.

Galen Go on...scare 'em! We dare you.

Charleyg PLEASE tell me that your builders are about to pack their bags and leave you in peace. How much longer do you need to remain sane? I cannot believe that you are still dealing with stress. You must be made of tough stuff.

Maw that made me grin...

soop Fri 16-Jun-17 15:17:53

callgirl we said good morning to David as we motored by Muasdale earlier today.

MawBroon Vet's bills mount up so rapidly. We had little idea when we first had the vet visit to "capture" Rory and take him back to the surgery for treatment, that we would face such a big bill by the end of the week. You do whatever it takes when a family pet is in need. We've no pet insurance. As for the friend to which you refer...I don't think that you are being unreasonable in feeling as you do. All that you can do, is express your feelings (gently) and trust that the problem can be resolved amicably.

annsixty poor wee puppy. Pancreatitis is a painful complaint. I hope that the vet has managed to put him on the path to recovery.

morethan2 Please be sure to tell us lot how you're feeling. Some of us have had family members go through sessions of chemo. We will be here for you. I wish your daughter-in-law well. sunshine

corner I'm sorry that you are feeling less than perky. flowers

Charleyg That was a buggeration. I can imagine what Baggs would have said had she been in your position. Sparks would fly!

NanaandGrampy I'm so surprised that you didn't climb into the pool with smiley Cooper.
Sam doesn't sound at all well. Aren't pets a worry? It will be a shame if your Scottish trip has to be cancelled. Hoping for good news.

MawBroon Fri 16-Jun-17 15:05:32

<looks over shoulder nervously> safe to come in?
Goodness what a stooshie. Along with my feelings of disappointment at my friend's (IMHO) meanness and petty attitude, I have found it all very chastening.
And now we have two poorly pups as well sad I do wonder if it could be something Sam ate. Lego perhaps? I sincerely hope it is quickly resolved. Disappointing to miss/postpone your trip but the guilt you would feel would take much of the joy away from it.
In the hope of cheering everybody up, may I share this?

Charleygirl Fri 16-Jun-17 14:17:41

A tad heated elsewhere but it has calmed down now.

I ordered a new magnifier yesterday and it was on my doorstep today- that is superb customer service. This one does not need a battery, is small, foldable and will fit in my handbag easily. My newspaper reading days are over but this will be useful for menus and trawling around a supermarket.

I needed sugar the other day as the builders have 2 teaspoons of it in every drink. I picked up a bag from the bottom shelf, put it in my trolley and then decided I had better check that it is granulated and not icing to discover I had a bag of flour! The bags were close together and looked similar on the shelf. There are some funny things that happen when one has Macular but not a lot!

NanaandGrampy Fri 16-Jun-17 14:15:32

Poor old Sam is not happy ! Whatever has upset his tummy has done a sterling job. So it's a 24 hour fast for him and it's looking unlikely we'll get our trip away.

I just can't ask my daughter to deal with it, and good natured though he is I'm almost positive Sam doesn't want the company of 2 rambunctious little boys.

Cooper is returned home and after an 06:30 start we are off for a nap :-)

Baggs Fri 16-Jun-17 11:55:16

put!

Baggs Fri 16-Jun-17 11:54:55

Everyone I know... no! Not everyone! There is one farm track near here where they have special, communal rubbish bins off road for them to out their bags of rubbish in because there is no pavement there... leaves their bins on the pavement for collection, usually from the night before.

We tow our wheelie bins behind the car to the nearest pavement (no pavement near us and the bin lorry couldn't get up the hill anyhow even if there were; ambulances can't get up either shock, we'd need a helicopter ambulance) and tow them back up again afterwards.

Life on the edge, eh?

Galen Fri 16-Jun-17 11:12:54

Just rang my councillor. He says he'll look into it!
He's said that about the waste THE BUNGALOW leave on the pavement!

Baggs Fri 16-Jun-17 11:03:19

PS good luck!

Baggs Fri 16-Jun-17 11:02:51

Can you get to council offices and rant in person on your crutches? Or get someone to take you? And refuse to leave until you have some kind of guarantee? Go on, use your infamous scariness! wink

Galen Fri 16-Jun-17 10:55:24

Can I rant?
A few months ago our council waste services were taken over by Biffa.
I have to have assisted collection as I'm on crutches.
Every week I find my recycling has not been collected.
Every week I ring the council to complain.
Last week my neighbour intercepted them and asked them why
They said I wasn't on their list.
The council say that I am
Guess what this week?
Not collected again.
Any ideas as to what I can do next?

Bellanonna Fri 16-Jun-17 09:49:48

Bit late saying so but the pics of soop and bags are lovely. Need to see a bit more of the dress but the tights look completely "normal". Love soop's pink shoes too. The little bag is pretty, and the pudding looks positively obscene delicious. Hope to see more pics later.
MawB can understand how you feel.
Cooper seems to be having a lovely time N&G.
We were meant to be having ditto today off of holiday but I've had to postpone for a couple of days. While DH is a lot better I am awake a lot of the night coughing and feel exhausted. Eyes still red despite drops. No energy. One consolation it's summer and things don't feel as bad as during the cold dark days of winter.
Hugs to ann, morethan and anyone else in need of one.

MawBroon Fri 16-Jun-17 09:39:49

Charleyg that is SHOCKING and needs to be reported. Even apart from the fire risk, what if anybody had been taken ill or, if you had realised, anybody had had a panic attack
NOT GOOD ENOUGH

MawBroon Fri 16-Jun-17 09:38:06

cool pics!! N&G!!
Oh dear another poorly pooch I do feel for you. Perhaps it was the change in dog food but we do worry so about them don't we? (as we should, they deserve nothing but the best) but I have realised that my "nerves" have one less thing to shred them these days hmm not much consolation.
Kittylester you might find yourself singing "that" song again today. hmm again.
