being very brave here and starting the new kitchen, not too hot here so I can manage the move OK

Maw that cartoon reminds me of the first time I took our Purdey for a groom. The groomer had a hard time of it anyway, as she wriggles like a box of eels, but I got her home looking slightly better and smelling sweeter and the first ring she did was go into the garden and throw herself into the pond! Good job we love our pets. She's going to a different groomer this week - could be interesting.

soop I am well aware why you have not been able to get drops into that minx's eyes but can you see his 3rd eyelid? Does he allow either of you to get close enough? They can be little toerags when they want to be and he is fitting the bill nicely.

It was good to see Heather Watson is through to the next round.

greyduster, I love your pictures of the Peak District. Where were you? Dark Peak or White Peak? I've done lots of walks there in the past but nowadays have a dodgy foot!

Greyduster Mon 03-Jul-17 21:46:30

Dark Peak Anno. Top end of the Hope Valley. Relatively short one today.

Tizliz Mon 03-Jul-17 22:27:42

I do hope the Sky engineer can fix my signal tomorrow. I did watch Andy via the internet but can't pause it (and don't OHs always want something at a tense moment), or rewind. Really need Sky here as freeview is minimal. Minor problem compared to others.

Can I tempt anyone with venison stew? Was given (I had to help with the butchering) 25 kilos yesterday, we will be eating it every which way.

Greyduster Tue 04-Jul-17 07:23:49

Ooh, yes please, Tizliz - I could eat that all day long. That's a heck of a lot of venison though!
Soop I hope Rory's injured leg is feeling better. Something similar happened to my cat. The vet said he thought she had been chased by something and had trapped the leg during her escape, possibly in low branches. It was dislocated, and she also had a bite mark. Took her ages to get better.

soop Tue 04-Jul-17 12:49:58

Back from the care home. We're waiting for the Campbeltown vet to visit and determine Rory's condition. I shall return later.

Charleygirl Tue 04-Jul-17 13:17:43

The poor young man I do hope that all is well. It is very worrying. Rory will not be overjoyed to see the vet invading his privacy. Thanks for keeping us informed.

MawBroon Tue 04-Jul-17 13:20:13

Thinking of you sad but keeping everything crossed too ?

soop Tue 04-Jul-17 13:27:06

The vet doesn't hold out much hope. However, because Rory still has an appetite, she has given him a couple of injections and administered the eye drops. We'll give Rory as much peace as we can. If by Friday, he's showing signs of deteriorating further, we shall to let him go...

I can't stay and chat. I'd love to. MacSporran needs company. flowers

NanaandGrampy Tue 04-Jul-17 13:30:39

Afternoon all !

Of course you had to have a go on the trampoline ! I am the same at weddings ( not the trampoline thing but I cant not have a dance and I always pay a price for he next few days !)

Its ok Charley Sam missed his bath yesterday, it needs to be a warmer at so he can dry off quickly. But we are on day 5 of his new food with no ill effects , of course it is only 10% new food and 90% old but that got us to the vets last time.

I did laugh at the cartoon Maw !!

Nothing for it Kitty , bake them a cake... and go round. Do your best little old lady, be honest, show flexibility ( tell them notice of a party ( or an invite) is always good, and see if that makes a difference.

Sorry to hear Rory is feeling unwell * soop* . Its funny how easy it is to notice when they just aren't right. Hope he's back to his old self soon.

I do like marmalade Marydoll pass it over !

Lovely pictures Greyduster, I'm envious.

Swanny glad to know you have not misappropriated someone else's boobs and the annual squishing went as well as can be expected !! :-)

My new laptop is very swish . I have just restored to factory settings one of the old 2 , to donate to the ladies who run Coopers pre school as theirs has died. The other one I shall do the same and then pre load with educational stuff for the 4 little ones. Never to early to start to learn good technology habits I think.

THEN I am going to reinstall the gazillion things on my new one and job done ! Might take a while though smile

Off out soon to take Grampy to an apt ! Catch you all later x

annsixty Tue 04-Jul-17 13:47:56

So sorry soop anxious days ahead. The only cat we had had to " be let go" at 13 I cried for days.
I am being taken out for afternoon tea by two friends, one of whom I have posted about several times!! I shall come home knowing every detail of her very accomplished family and just how wealthy they all are AND its MY birthday treat. We are early as the other one, equally well off, but doesn't rub it in , is going to Canada for 3 weeks on Friday.
I had half a day shopping with my GD yesterday, I came home shattered and went to bed at 8:15pm. Old age is certainly not for the faint hearted.

Charleygirl Tue 04-Jul-17 14:02:14

soop I am so sorry to hear that news. MacSporran as well as yourself must be devastated. I will keep my fingers and other bits crossed that he picks up and starts to feel more his normal self. He needs loads of cuddles.

Tegan2 Tue 04-Jul-17 14:08:07

So sorry to hear about Rory; fingers crossed that he will pick up. On the subject of Wimbledon, did anyone watch the programme with Sue Barker the other day [where she interviewed several ex champions] and found Pete Sampras properly gorgeous [something he never seemed to be when he was playing blush?

annodomini Tue 04-Jul-17 14:30:16

soop, I'm so sorry to hear about Rory's plight. I know how stressful it is to have a poorly cat, but the one ray of hope is that he still has an appetite; so, fingers crossed.
Tegan, I missed Sue Barker's interview with Sampras. I never thought of him as gorgeous. Has he had his eyebrows groomed?
ann, you are a brave woman, going shopping with your GD. When my senior GD was a teenager I used to take her (at my peril) to the Trafford Centre which is hazardous enough even without a teenager in tow! We always 'had to have' a hot chocolate in Café Nero!

Gagagran Tue 04-Jul-17 15:07:26

soop thinking of you both as you watch over Rory and sending hugs all round. He has been such a lucky boy to find you for his final years and he brought such love with him. Whatever the outcome of this week's vigil, you can hold on to that. sunshine

Tegan2 Tue 04-Jul-17 16:33:26

...no, but he's grown a beard and it sort of balances everything out....I still can't believe she was interviewing the same person, though.

aggie Tue 04-Jul-17 16:47:50

Oh Soop poor Rory xxxx

devongirl Tue 04-Jul-17 16:59:31

soop so very sorry to hear about Rory.

tegan2 I say the interview too and agree he's so much more attractive now! I think you're spot on - the facial hear suitws him and draws attention away from the eyebrows!

callgirl1 Tue 04-Jul-17 17:46:57

Soop, I`m so sorry to hear about poor Rory, you and MacSporran must be so worried. I`m keeping everything possible crossed for Rory and the two of you.
Rena`s been trying to book with Booking .com for 3 nights at The Brambles in Inverary next April, but because we need so many rooms, they want one night`s money on booking, and not everyone has it right now, so we`re having to leave it and hope to get something at a later date. Soop, do you know anyone who has stayed at The George?
Mia is looking decidedly scruffy these days, not just from the odd oil patch, but from rolling around in all the dust out there. The next really warm sunny day, she`s heading for a bath, distressing though it is, for me AND her!

kittylester Tue 04-Jul-17 17:54:39

Soop and McS, sending healing vibes to Rory and hugs to you both. I'd cross everything for you too but currently have sciatica and can't quite manage it. (((hugs)))

On a slightly lighter note - it was the funeral of our neighbour today - she would have been 89 in a few days time. I didn't go but our next door neighbour did and said that the coffin was carried into Good Vibrations by the Beach boys and they left to Edith Piaf. I will miss seeing her around.

I had intended to go to the funeral but a friend is in a state about her husband's health and needed to have a catch up. sad

Swanny Tue 04-Jul-17 20:14:05

soop that doesn't sound too good a prognosis for your darling Rory. Though as you say he still has an appetite there is a chance of recovery. We know from our own illnesses that almost always the first indication of poorliness is lack of interest in food. I want to hold my breath for him for the next 3 days, but that might not do me any good ...

Be kind to yourselves, knowing we are all rooting for a happy outcome. If it's not to be, take comfort from the happiness he found and has given us all Special thoughts to you and MacSporran xx

cornergran Tue 04-Jul-17 21:05:46

Oh soop. You must both be so worried. Sending hugs to you and macs and so many healing thoughts to Rory.

NanaandGrampy Tue 04-Jul-17 21:17:28

It was like emergency ward 10 here tonight( anyone remember it?)

Sam came in from the garden , scratched his ear and started screaming. We couldn't find anything so whipped him down to the vet. 1 hr later , a bill for £168 , an anaesthetic and a one inch grass dart removed from the depths of his little spaniel ear !!

We're home now , and he's plainly discombobulated . As he stands up , his back legs sink away and he falls over!

Hopefully, by tomorrow he'll be better. Poor old soul!

MawBroon Tue 04-Jul-17 21:26:34

Poor Sam and poor Rory. Thank goodness for excellent vet care.
