Thoughts and plentiful virtual hugs from me maw. Thinking of you, your DH and your family flowers

Morning Maw, morning all! Just popped in to see if there was any news of Paw. Hope to hear good news next time I pop in.

Gagagran Tue 11-Jul-17 08:41:36

I've put the kettle back on - it was still warm from the early callers in the kitchen.

Maw hoping that you have better news today about Paw and that you are not buckling with all the stress and worry. Any more news on your proposed new dog or is that on hold until Paw is sorted? KBO my dear, KBO.

Still supporting my sister from afar as her own DH lies in his Nursing Home bed on his continuing slow decline. The GP has now prescribed morphine patches for him so hopefully he will have more ease from his many painful physical problems. She is exhausted visiting every day - a 25 mile drive round trip - but insists she has to be there for him. It's so sad. I fear that she will collapse when the inevitable day comes that he slips away. She is 83 (he is 85) and is not in the best of health herself. I think she is running on adrenaline.

I've popped in to see if there is any news on paw. Hoping for some better news today. We are all thinking of you maw x

Bellanonna Tue 11-Jul-17 10:07:18

Gagagran that's so tough on your sister. Thoughts with you too, as supporting from afar can be hard

NanaandGrampy Tue 11-Jul-17 10:21:18

Morning all !

A cooler morning thank goodness. Sam is off for a short back and sides today and we are babysitting the 2 bigger grandchildren tonight . So this morning is all about tidying up and ignoring the ironing mountain ( which if it fell on you would kill you !!)

Sending some positive thoughts to Maw and Paw this morning , hoping for good news xx

Charleygirl Tue 11-Jul-17 12:00:03

N&G my heart goes out to poor Sam. He is either being bathed in some ghastly sweet smelling liquid, he is having his nails cut or his beautiful coat shorn. Can a decent fella not get a minute's rest and stop this pampering please! He would enjoy his summer holidays here and he would not see the outside of a doggie beauty parlour or the mobile one which I see locally.

aggie Tue 11-Jul-17 12:02:47

maw thinking of you both xxx

soop Tue 11-Jul-17 13:01:36

My first thought as I came into our kitchen was...what news of Paw. Like the rest of you, I'm feeling concerned and wish to goodness that there was something constructive that we can do to support Maw through this stressful time. flowers

soop Tue 11-Jul-17 13:06:27

Rory thanks all his lovely Granspals for their kind thoughts and comments. He continues to amaze MacSporran and me.

Charleyg As you so rightly say...^poor Sam!^ All he really needs is a long loll in a muddy puddle and to blazes with a visit to the beauty parlour. wink

soop Tue 11-Jul-17 13:10:08

What an amazing match! Four plus hours of a supreme on court battle. Rafa couldn't shake off his opponent, who remained totally cool, calm and collected right up to the final shot.

Charleygirl Tue 11-Jul-17 15:34:16

soop I would think that Rory is like Tara, the closest he gets to water is to drink it.

I hope that you are not disturbing Rory's slumbers with you shouting at the TV when watching tennis.

soop Tue 11-Jul-17 15:40:43

Charleyg Rory is in the chalet. Birds continue to peck all around. He doesn't bat an eyelid. Looking forward to Jo's match on Centre Court. I'm not a big fan of Venus. Doing a bit of faffin' with a duster instead. I sure know how to live dangerously.

Charleygirl Tue 11-Jul-17 15:49:32

I am like you soop I am also waiting for Jo's match. I am also not a fan of Venus but that girl appears to have lost a lot of weight.

Rory is obviously very happy where he is or he would move to one of his many resting places indoors. He is a canny boy and thankfully has at least 5 of his lives left.

NanaandGrampy Tue 11-Jul-17 17:01:07

Sam has been shorn!

Maybe a bit shorter around the ears than I hoped but we want to try and avoid him getting any more grassseeds in his ears.

No more now for about 10 weeks smile

I miss his ears already !

grannysyb Tue 11-Jul-17 17:29:13

Thinking of you Maw, and hoping thatPaw is feeling a little better. Sam looks lovely N and G, I'm sure he feels more comfortable! We're in lovely Derbyshire near Chatsworth which we will visit tomorrow before going to Durham. Best wishes to all with health problems, and enjoy the tennis!

soop Tue 11-Jul-17 17:58:09

grannysyb Enjoy Derbyshire. Durham is delightful.

NanaandGrampy Sam looks debonair.

Jo is putting up a great fight. hmm I can barely watch. I would love the game to go into a third set. We shall see. smile moon

Greyduster Tue 11-Jul-17 19:15:27

My goodness, N&G! That's definitely a bit of a RMP short back and sides by the look of it, bless him! Still, we are not through with the hot weather yet by the sound of it, so he will probably thank you for it. Give him a hug from me! He's a fine looking little chap with or without a haircut. ?
Grannysyb I hope you enjoy Chatsworth - we live fairly close and the park has always been one of our favourite stamping grounds. I was surprised recently when my DiL told me she had never visited, so when they come back from holiday it is on our to do list. Love Durham too.
Well, whisper this, but we think we might at last have found our bathroom tile! I hope this will herald the end of tooing, froing and disappointments and we can move forward. No hasty decisions though. DH might change his mind tomorrow in which case I can see me rummaging in the freezer for the leg of lamb!
I woke up early this morning - before the sun came up - with all sorts of things and people buzzing around in my head, and didn't manage to get back to sleep, so now it is catching up with me. I have just had a glass of wine and I suspect before long, DH may be talking to himself as I will be asleep! ?

cornergran Tue 11-Jul-17 21:39:31

Sam looks very smart, n&g, ignore the heckling grin

Good news about the tiles, grey well, hope it is and there's no need for the leg of lamb.

Been thinking about maw and paw all day, sending love through the ether.

I'm not much of a tennis-watcher so have just frittered the day away.

annodomini Tue 11-Jul-17 22:53:53

I had to watch that last game of Jo's match through my fingers. They were so evenly matched that it could have gone either way but she had the winning attitude.

MawBroon Tue 11-Jul-17 23:05:59

A glimmer of hope, Paw's kidney function has shown a tiny improvement so they are holding off dialysis for the time being. At least the downward slide has stopped and if he continues to respond to treatment the kidneys might start working better again.
I know there is still a long way to go, but for the first time in a week I am allowing myself the luxury of hope.

annsixty Tue 11-Jul-17 23:29:38

I hope you sleep better tonight Maw after that slightly better news.
Any glimmer of hope however small is good.
