being very brave here and starting the new kitchen, not too hot here so I can manage the move OK

Greyduster Tue 18-Jul-17 18:56:55

Baggs i woukdn't drive past someone in a Tilley hat either! I am virtually inseparable from mine! Hope the scan goes well tomorrow.

Tizliz Tue 18-Jul-17 20:20:53

I will update on the kitchen floor tomorrow as Anlon came back from his walk with a very smelly bone ?

Swanny Tue 18-Jul-17 21:22:03

Methinks everyone is wearying in one way or another or has taken note of soop's (and others') pleas to slow down with their activity-reporting in the kitchen grin Or, in plain speak, the kitchen is awfa' quiet this week hmm

I'm concerned so many are worried about loved ones and wish I had a magic wand to make everyone's wishes come true. But then I've been wishing for said magic wand for many years for my own loved ones ...

Collected DGS from school today as DDIL had a doctor's appointment. He attends the autistic resource unit at his local school and they were due to take part in sports day tomorrow. This has been cancelled for their unit as just about all the children are being really 'arsy' (my description) at the moment. I've got mixed feelings about it - can understand the havoc they could cause but they have little contact with their so-called 'normal' peers anyway, and greatly enjoyed last year's sports day. On the other hand, if they're all behaving like DGS at the moment, well I think I can understand the decision. End of the school year, changes for some next year, two schoolmates and a teacher moving elsewhere, all capped by some very sultry weather at the moment.

I'll be looking after him for the first 3 weeks of the school holiday before the other grandma comes to take over. They all then go away together for 2 weeks. I was included in the plans originally but said I am happy to let his other grandma go with them instead, while I have a holiday at home grin I'm going away with a group of friends later.

Sorry this post has turned into a novel but I feel I can say things to you lot that DS and DDIL might not take the way it was meant. I love them all to bits and am willing to help them all whenever - but just sometimes I need a bit of 'me' time and space. Thanks for listening - I know in the greater scheme of things my troubles are minimal

Night night and sweet dreams to you all moon

Thought you might like to see Paw's new nurse (I bet he has a woman Doctor too!!) grin

Less cheerfully the attempt(s) to get a drain in failed painfully today so it is to be done by a radiologist with help from ultrasound sometime tomorrow.

Swanny Tue 18-Jul-17 22:30:02

Maw (((hugs)))

Crafting Tue 18-Jul-17 23:27:16

swanny glad your DGS has such a loving family to help. My DGC is in one such unit too. Wish they had more of them around, so many in need.

maw poor paw hope he is not too uncomfortable tonight. I know the NHS was in difficulties but inflatable Dalek nurses ? Whatever next.

cornergran Tue 18-Jul-17 23:31:42

Love the nurse, maw, good you can find something to raise a smile. Sounds as if paw had a difficult day, here's hoping for less discomfort and more success tomorrow. X

Jalima1108 Tue 18-Jul-17 23:38:38

I hope the radiologist has more success tomorrow, perhaps with the help of that nurse.

How is Paw's appetite now?

callgirl1 Wed 19-Jul-17 01:04:01

Best wishes to Paw, hope he`s getting on alright with the new nurse!
What a belter of a photo of MacSporran!
We took some stuff left over from the kitchen back to B & Q earlier, netted me just over £91, and I still have 2 packs of glass shelving to take back.

Hipsy Wed 19-Jul-17 08:17:14

Good morning to you all.Anyone else have a thunderstorm during the early hours? I normally dont take much notice but was awakened by a terrified Millie who had jumped the stair(dog)gate and scurried, trembling under our duvet.Poor thing is scared of any and everything at the best of timessad
Its lovely to see all your photos-just wish I could get my head around the workings of this laptop and discover the mysterious world of technology (and photo sharing) confused

Charleygirl Wed 19-Jul-17 09:11:08

Thunderstorms do not waken me- I went to the loo around 2am and saw the lightening flashes and I could hear the thunder then. Tara slept through it- if she had been bothered she would have jumped on my bed looking for assurance and cuddles.

I hope that Paw has a more painfree day. Hopefully he is still enjoying his food. Please take care of yourself Maw.

Gagagran Wed 19-Jul-17 09:23:13

We do seem to have some very handsome DHs featuring in the kitchen, don't we? Is it just down to our good taste?

Had a surprise whilst watching the BBC news at 6pm last night when DS's best man popped on to the screen to explain why the carpets he makes have had to go up in price. I couldn't understand why he looked so middle-aged until DH reminded me that DS is 46! Will always be boys to me!

BiL is still being assessed by the Hospice to see what they can offer. We are in their hands. My sister is less stressed now something is being done.

We had a massive storm too Hipsy for about 2 hours in the early hours. DH slept through it but it kept me awake. It feels oppressive and humid today. Not nice.

Hope Paw gets his drainage sorted out today Maw and feels a bit better afterwards. What a time you are having. Your positivity and endurance is inspiring. flowers

Finally, I have just left some of Mr Paul Hollywood's rolls for you all to try - freshly baked and I think they are quite good for just a quick 10 minutes in the oven. There is some best butter there too and I know there are some "confitures" in soop's pantry so help yourselves! sunshine

NanaandGrampy Wed 19-Jul-17 09:31:35

Good Morning all !

Apparently we had a magnificent storm here last night. Missed it all as I slept through like a little log !! Shame as I do like a good thunder and lightening show.

Lovely picture of Macs soop he's quite dashing !!

Good luck with the scan Baggs

Glad to hear the bathroom MIGHT be reaching fruition Grey!!

Sorry to hear of the cancelled sports day Swanny . I understand you being on the fence about the cancelation. Such a shame for the children.

Sorry to hear the procedure did not go well Maw , but had to smile at the dalek nurse !!

I have a bit of rush crafting to do this morning for youngest daughter. But other than that a peaceful day.

Young Jackson took part in a Design Technology competition yesterday because it was to build your own car. Thought Id show you what he and his Daddy achieved !

annodomini Wed 19-Jul-17 10:06:57

I hope the radiologist has more success with inserting the drain, Maw. It must be very wearing on Paw suffering these failed attempts. Love the new nurse. Now all he needs is a K9 companion.
No storms here... yet. Last night I didn't bother watering my pots because I was sure Nature would do it for me. Wrong!

aggie Wed 19-Jul-17 10:08:23

Muggy morning here .I have to pay for my September break today , was going to cancel in case it clashed with new hip , but the op is moving further down the waiting list , so will dust off the walker and get the cheque book out . We are meeting for lunch in the pub accross the road be nice to catch up with the club. that is a great. car that Jackson produced , such imagination smile

NanaandGrampy Wed 19-Jul-17 11:07:42

Thanks Aggie he did most of the work except the spray painting.

Charleygirl Wed 19-Jul-17 11:22:55

Jackson is obviously very proud of his car and rightly so. I love seeing his name on it and also the car's colour. Who is that lurking in the background?!

Swanny Wed 19-Jul-17 12:30:44

N&G fantastic photos! That boy certainly knows his stuff and deserves to win grin

Greyduster Wed 19-Jul-17 12:44:09

I can't work out whether the stormy weather has passed us by or whether it is lurking round the corner! Forecasts are not much help. The sun is out at the moment. I was going to walk down to the river with my rod and have a cast or two this evening, but waving nine feet of carbon fibre around is not a healthy thing to do if there is lightening around!! Even in rubber boots! I don't want my hair to be any curlier than it already is!
N&G that is a splendid vehicle - tell Jackson it is the same colour as mine, so he has good taste! Perhaps I should have my name put on the side too! I love it when they make things. GS seems to have left that stage behind, and I have a couple of bin bags of junk modelling stuff in the garage that I won't throw away just in case, but how many kitchen foil middles, plastic bottles and the like can you hope to accommodate and DH mutters every time he walks past them!
Maw I hope they get Paw sorted out with the minimum of discomfort. Not a very nice time for him or for you.?
Gaga I saw that clip too! I agree with you; our boys will always be just that in our heads (wish mine would shave his beard off though!)
Swanny you sounded a bit fed up last night; hope you're feeling better today ?

PoshGran Wed 19-Jul-17 13:23:46

Greetings one & all, not been properly around for a bit - personal poorlyness, family gathering for birthday celebration, sibling sudden hospitalisation (again!) & 10 day visit to start his recuperation properly (& "muck him out"), return home to OH coming down with man-flu ("No, I'll manage"). Ho,hum.
Anyway, back to normality this week - or whatever passes for it! My garden seduced me on Monday, at the Library Rhymetime yesterday I had a recordbreaking 50 littlies & 22 carers, & today my Gransnet competition prize arrived.
Would Kitcheners like to share part of the prize with me? Isle of Mull Island Bakery "Apple Crumbles" organic biscuits? Love the description on the pack - "A truly fruity fix where apple chunks, oats & juice embrace under a light cinnamon sprinkling"!
Oh crumbs ..... help yourselves! grin

Charleygirl Wed 19-Jul-17 15:08:36

OMG I have just discovered that I have won a large box of books on GN and they will be delivered next week. I cannot believe it because these things do not happen to me- I never win anything.

If you do not see me on soop's kitchen it is because I am still in bed, reading!

I am over the moon.

Jalima1108 Wed 19-Jul-17 15:17:56

Congratulations Charleygirl!! I am very pleased that it is someone we know who has won smile iyswim

Happy reading.

Greyduster Wed 19-Jul-17 15:20:20

We could all sit in bed with Charley, reading over her shoulder and eating your biscuits, Posh! She might object to the crumbs, though grin. Well done to both of you! ?

soop Wed 19-Jul-17 15:25:47

Posh Hearty congrats. Bring on the apple crumbles, and leave a few extra dozen for the latecomers. And Gaga thank you for your generous donation. grin

Baggs Please keep us updated. Your Tilley hat is a winner.

Swanny Arsy is a brilliant word. I shall adopt it for future reference. PLEASE feel welcome to offload. Us lot understand. smile

Young Jackson WOWEEE! What a belter of a design. You've inherited some of Nana's creative genes.

Maw Paw's nurse needs a frilly cap. She poses no threat you. If anything, she lacks the personal touch. Our best wishes to him. May we add a (((group hug))) wink

Hipsy I'm happy to take you through the uploading of photos process. Would you like some help?

cornergran Wed 19-Jul-17 16:08:18

Love that car n&g, a very talented young man. That's great news, charley, pleased for you. Biscuits sound good. posh. Just right with my afternoon brew

Having some feet up time between school celebration service and granny duties later. Hmm, just may feel a real biscuit coming on. Good for the energy grin.
