Here we go again...

annsixty Sat 12-Aug-17 20:26:54

I know that some of you know what it is like to live with Alzheimer's.
For those of you don't I will give you a typical day, and I have to say my H is in no way a bad case.
He wouldn't help me get things ready for lunch, he has decided anything domestic is my province. He also will not mow the lawns or eater the garden.
I cooked an M&S meal, it was delicious but he hated It, his went in the bin.
He went to bed at 7:30 and came down 3 times between then and 8pm to see where I was.
I came up to my bedroom just after 8pm to help the situation. He has just been in to ask me " how I solved the situation" there is no answer to that.
I hope he settles now but who knows?
In 10 minutes this will all be forgotten.
He will be up at 6:30 and will be as lucid and normal as ever!!
It is so hard to tell anyone just what it is like.

callgirl| you have a lovely family.

Galen I am sure that Downsized will be packed and ready by September. It sounds so relaxing but do not forget you will probably need an umbrella at Southampton.

corner whichever part of the globe she lives is another who rarely sees sunshine. I have told her she should think about moving and it sounds as though you need to consider it also. We had monsoon weather in London last Wednesday but plenty of sunshine since.

Do not leave your own packing until too late but you should be very used to it by now.

callgirl1 Sat 12-Aug-17 18:05:59

Sorry, jobs not jos, Albert not Albrt, and result, not fesult!

callgirl1 Sat 12-Aug-17 18:04:18

Wearing pearls!
Soop, wonderful news about your second great grandchild to be, you must both be cockahoop!
I hardly slept last night, so go up extra early to get my jos out of the way sooner, giving me a bit more reading time before going into town.
When Dan took me to London in March, to the Albrt Hall, she insisted on paying for everything, so I said I`d pay for the photos on the London Eye. She insisted on giving me £10 towards them, wouldn`t let me give it back, found it twice when I tried to sneak it back, but the other week I pushed it into her bag when she was in the toilet. I made the mistake today of bragging about managing it, with the fesult that I have now to find a way to get the tenner back to her that she left here this afternoon!

Galen Sat 12-Aug-17 17:36:38

Eve us? Wave us!

Galen Sat 12-Aug-17 17:36:13

8september. QE from Southampton if anyone wants to eve us off.
Downsized will be with me ( if she gets packed in time)
Our cabin suite is on port side of boat on the lifeboat level midships!
You'll recognise us. We'lll be sipping champagne cocktails on the balcony!

soop Sat 12-Aug-17 17:07:37

I'm sending comforting vibes to all of you in need. I've been thinking of Paw and Maw throughout the day. I also hope that ann is feeling less stressed. Nana have you found a replacement mug? Bet you have.

MacSporran has made a brew. We're to sit in the garden, in the sunshine, together with a much improved big, black cat.

soop Sat 12-Aug-17 16:05:01

Charleyg *Rory has seven pain killers remaining. I shall phone the vet and bring him up to date. See whether or not he suggests keeping R on a tablet a day.

Charleygirl Sat 12-Aug-17 15:43:49

Galen delighted to hear that you will be polishing your pearls soon. When do you leave?

soop Rory never ceases to surprise us- I am delighted to hear that he is sunning himself today. The tablets must be working and he is hopefully pain free. He has used up at least 4 of his 9 lives but there is life in the old bruiser yet.

soop Sat 12-Aug-17 14:08:14

Galen I shall send some your way. Anyway, you'll be having more than enough when you board that boat. wink

Galen Sat 12-Aug-17 13:10:56

Sun? What's that?

soop Sat 12-Aug-17 12:57:18

A bright and breezy good afternoon to you all. sunshine

annsixty Your heartfelt concern is commendable. Your ear-bashing is best ignored and forgotten. flowers

Maw You've more than enough stress right now. Please take every opportunity that presents itself to relax and recharge your batteries.

kitty That Afghan hound surely had indigestion after eating the takings. I'm sorry, but I couldn't help but chuckle. Maw's Hattie it seems, is also a prankster.

corner Try to stay cool, calm and collected. I did during more than one serious family crisis and, things eventually improved, and a new order was agreed and established without rancour. flowers

Nana&G I'm pleased to hear that your young friend's prognosis is hopeful. Bowel cancer, when detected early, can be successfully treated and fully cured.
Stevie is lucky to have a truly wonderful Nana. smile

Charleyg Yes! Is the work finished to your complete satisfaction? If not, why not?

Crafting grin grin grin]

Rory continues to surprise us. He's sunbathing atop of the log store. A remarkable cat in so many ways.

Greyduster Sat 12-Aug-17 12:44:20

Please can I have one, N&G with "don't ever take on any more bathroom projects" (I know, it will have to be a pretty big cup!).

NanaandGrampy Sat 12-Aug-17 11:59:45

Charley I will be happy to send you a cup to solve ALL your problems smile . Stevie's says 'Slurp it Stevie' . Yours should read ' More patience than a saint with builders !!' smile

annsixty Sat 12-Aug-17 11:19:56

I have not asked recently charley is all your work done?
Have you actually waved goodbye to those builders?

Charleygirl Sat 12-Aug-17 11:13:46

I have joined the sleepless night club temporarily. I can normally sleep for London. If I have a nap pm that may stop me sleeping tonight.

I do hope that you manage to buy a suitable cup for young Stevie. If my problems could be solved so easily I would be very happy!

That is a horrid diagnosis but with luck it has been caught in time.

The sun is attempting to shine here- I must move this body into action and tidy this kitchen.

NanaandGrampy Sat 12-Aug-17 09:31:03

Morning all !

Sorry to hear you had an upset elsewhere ann , you're right to just put it behind you !

Loved the whole pjs thing Maw , hope you had a bit more sleep last night. You can only go on for so long without.

Sorry to hear you didn't get a good night either Corner - any chance of an afternoon nap?

FAB news soop , my goodness two new great grandchildren !! That's what I aspire to smile

Two things this morning for me to be grateful for - the first is sad news about a friend of my youngest daughter, we have know her since school days and she calls us Mum and Dad No2. She has a very young daughter and the doctors have just discovered she has bowel cancer.

The prognosis is good but she is so young with everything ahead of her still. I am shocked and so upset for her.

The other thing is far more easily solved but did make me smile. At Christmas I made all the children a plastic cup with their name on, it has a lid and a straw and minimises spills at my house !! Stevie ( aged 7 took his home as he loved it so much and yesterday his dog ate it !!

His Mum rang ( and we could hear him sobbing in the background) to tell me the sad news. I asked to speak to him and when he had stopped crying I told him that I would fix it because I'm his Nana and I love him more than anything - cue more sobbing !!! Apparently, I'm so nice I made him cry !! wink

So we are on a mission this morning to try and find a similar cup , to be redone with his name on and delivered to his house !!

Happy Day all x

kittylester Sat 12-Aug-17 08:16:14

Well! Is about all I can say!

Ann, you didn't deserve any of that, as I'm sure you know. Don't let it upset you. You are a good friend to care with all the things you have going on. I hope you had some sleep. flowers

I hope you got some sleep too, Maw! You must be quite stressed with all the disturbances in you life. It will all settle down and a rhythm will be established before long. 45 minutes in the chair won't have helped either! brew

Corner it's S*d's law isn't it! I hope your family 'things' are soon settled too! What is your volunteering role?

soop congratulations to you. We have 2 dgd just 6 months apart in age but they are so different - it is fascinating to see their characters emerge.

We had an Afghan hound when we first married - he ate the weeks takings which were on the hall table waiting to go to the bank. And one of our basset hounds ate a repaired denture that dh was returning to the very scary head of the children's school and guess who had to explain? Actually, she thought it as hilarious - phew!

cornergran Sat 12-Aug-17 07:50:44

Goodness, no idea what happened elsewhere ann, but whatever it was pleased you can put it behind you. Know what you mean about life's surprises, we're dealing with a few family surprises at the moment, life looks very different to the way it did six months ago. It will be fine in the end, we'll adjust and life goes on.

Hope you got some sleep maw and paw slept well. Not a good night here either, irritating as I'm volunteering all day today and could do with some energy. I'll need it smile.

Take care everyone.

harrigran Sat 12-Aug-17 07:37:43

Thinking of you Maw flowers
Right attitude Ann flowers

annsixty Sat 12-Aug-17 05:41:35

I am also having a rubbish night Maw in spite of being rational about certain aspects of life, I am finding it hard to accept such a public mauling here on GN.
Things would have been better put in a PM or by a private phone call.
I have sent a PM to the person concerned and am putting it behind me now.
I am sorry you are awake I am sure you need your sleep to cope with the day and many more days ahead.I hope Paw continues to recover and recuperate as time goes by. You have both been through a traumatic time but you have the major task now .
Isn't life odd, I am having many reflective moments tonight as to how things can change in the twinkling of an eye.
I must pull myself together now and try to get a couple of hours sleep or a zombie will have nothing on me later today and you I guess.

MawBroon Sat 12-Aug-17 05:16:40

Oh dear, everybody else is asleep but I am having a rubbish night!
Just to say to annsixty if she pops in, don't take comments elsewhere to heart, you have been a good friend and don't deserve this reaction.

Charleygirl Fri 11-Aug-17 21:58:33

Crafting I did wonder!

Maw you needed that sleep and much more! I hope that all three of you have a restful night.

Crafting Fri 11-Aug-17 21:24:49

No, no not knockers, knickers! ??

Crafting Fri 11-Aug-17 21:23:58

maw that photo of paw's pjs made me laugh. It reminded me of our dogs but with them it was knockers blush

Hope you 3 all have a good night tonight and paw is feeling better tomorrow.
