Devonshire my dd started an acting course too but hated the stress and the rejection so opted out. She started doing events management which seemed to satisfy the showbiz side and continued to do amdram - somewhat curtailed with 2 little ones!

Baggs I was interested to see what you saif about minniebaggs - my daughter embarked on acting training last year to follow a decade-long ambition, but found the pressure associated with pursuing it as a career took all the joy out of it; she has left the course and will pursue acting as a leisure activity instead. She's disappointed and misses the course terribly, but feels she made the right decision for her.

Just to say am thinking of you both.

Can't help wondering how paw is and how maw is coping. This is such a stressful time for them. I hope Hattie helps to change the focus a little bit.

soop my sympathies on the recurring UTIs - a real pain in the proverbial as well as the actual. I hope you get sorted asap. Have you ever tried regular cranberry juice? My late Dad had a permanent catheter following prostate cancer and had frequent UTIs and blockages. He was told to drink cranberry juice every day by the District Nurse. He still got problems but not as frequently.

My good intentions to have an early start on sorting "stuff" out have come to nothing so perhaps I'll delay the early start until tomorrow.

UTI's are horrible, thank goodness for antibiotics. I had a run of them and the threat of being on a low level of antibiotics as a preventer for life seemed to scare my body into behaving itself.
Maw - those sight hounds love to run don't they and 'recall', what's that they think. One of my friends adopted a sight hound several months ago. Luckily, they live in a fairly quiet area with access to a huge park. Said dog has gone missing a few times when not being walked by the attentive owner but always finds his way home.

University isn't for everyone and neither of my DC went but both now have really good jobs so if anyone didn't get the results they hoped for, don't give up, there are many different paths to success.

Swanny I like your post. It's true that there are no losers in the eyes of those who love them. There are other alternatives for the students who may be feeling disappointed with their grades. My late father left school at 15 with no qualification whatsoever. What he had in bucket loads, was the determination to make something of himself. Within a very short time of joining the army he was promoted to Sgt Major. After that, he gradually taught himself all that he needed to know to become a rep for a chemical company. Eventually, he became the district manager of the said company (a well known one). He never gave up. He reached his full potential. I'm very proud of his achievements.

Doctor phoned a few minutes ago. Wee sample back from the lab. ANOTHER UTI to deal with. We were en route to Campbeltown recently and I felt really rough. Stopped the car and MacSporran took over the driving. Took sample to the surgery...hey ho...more bloody antibio's.

MacSporran has a further appointment with the blood specialist, in Oban, on Wednesday. And another the following week, again in Oban, with the aneurysm specialist. We shall have fish and chips one time and go to the Kitchen Garden the next visit. Excuses galore!

Very happy news for all these hard working youngsters, and nice for parents and grandparents to be able to share in their joy! Well done Louie!

Thank you for all the kind comments about Minibaggs. In spite of her perfect result she has changed her mind about doing Advanced Higher Art this year. Doing art to someone else's timetable stresses her out big time so she has decided to keep it a leisure activity, something she does because she enjoys it.

Congratulations to all other successful examinees and comiserations to any who might need to redo or do something else.
