Here we go again...

kittylester Wed 16-Aug-17 17:58:48

Soop shock - no point now really!!

Love the ducks Baggs, there is somethings really appealing about rubber ducks.

Off to read Ann's bank story if I can find it.

Where is Maw? (((hugs))) if she calls in.

Might be back later.

soop Wed 16-Aug-17 17:50:14

Hello and apologies for being so late. It's been one of those days. We all have them from time to time. wink

Popped in to see if there is further news of Paw. Doesn't appear to be. I hope that Maw is coping and that when I return in the morning there may be an encouraging report.

Baggs Only you could breed rainbow coloured ducks. grin

Before I dash, just wanted to say that the photo of morethan's granddaughter is lovely. I used to get sixpence back in the 1940s...what's today's going rate? Bet it's a princely sum.

I have to go. I haven't yet made the bed. Shocking, I know.

Until tomorrow, (((a big group hug))) a smile and moon

callgirl1 Wed 16-Aug-17 17:35:06

Did you just get 2 Baggs, and they bred?
I was hoping for news of Paw, but not yet, will look later.

Baggs Wed 16-Aug-17 17:29:58

Meant to add a duck photo...

annsixty Wed 16-Aug-17 17:28:32

You aren't enough of a rebel yet Greyduster.
I had an interesting visit to my bank which I have told on another thread.
I can just see my old mother saying " where on earth will it all end up".
I am glad even though old I still have all my marbles.

Baggs Wed 16-Aug-17 17:27:15

I have a collection of ducks I'd like to donate to a cause that would use them for rubber duck races.

I don't feel I've done much today (weather atrocious) but I have ironed, which is rare, and sorted Minibags's school clothes (she went back for her final year today), and had a man in to repair the cooker (seems to be working but it kept cutting out before he came so???).

Got a message from MrB in Dublin to say he was so stiff after walking ten miles yesterday that he can hardly move! So he curtailed his museum viewings this afternoon and went to sit in the airport to read his book till his flight.

Greyduster Wed 16-Aug-17 16:59:26

Hello, kitcheners. No Maw today? Hope everything is okay and Paw is still holding his own.
We went out to change a bathroom fitting we had bought this afternoon and called in to see if GS would like a turn around the woods near his house with the 'grands'. He had just come back from the barbers with a new super spiffy gelled up haircut and looked the bees knees! He couldn't come out with us because he was about to go to his friend's for a sleepover - in a tent in his garden! I said "if you get dragged off by a bear in the middle of the night, can I have the contents of your two money boxes?” DD said "Half for you, Nanny, half for me and a backhander for the bear!" Grandad said "the bear would probably pay you to take him back!"
DH and I went to the woods instead (no bears!). 350 acres of stunning woodland; one of the natural glories of our city. I have walked there since I was a small child and it never fails to impress me. Better with a small chatterbox in tow, though! The man at the bathroom shop invited me to take one of the small complementary rubber ducks from a collection on his desk, which I did. I wanted to float it on the stream where GS and I used to paddle, but DH gave me 'a look'. So I didn't. And now I wish I had......

kittylester Wed 16-Aug-17 11:57:36

Just called back to see if there was any further news from Maw. Hope things are continuing to improve.

Hope you kettle search was successful Charley. Dripping kettles and teapots are a real bug bear of mine! brew

Love the hair ann, as Charley said, you'd better go out for something special now. I'm so pleased you have kept your birthday going for so long - you deserve spoiling! flowers

morethan, your DGD is lovely and looks so chuffed. Don't they cheer your heart! sunshine

Glad Rory is doing well. Our kitten helped herself to the milk (with sugar) in my cup which was waiting for the tea to be poured. The milk gave her diarrhoea and I really need to open some windows now to disperse the smell but she is turning into an escapologist so I daren't. I'm going out in an hour and I'd never get her to come back inside before I went. Note to self - buy more smellies!!

Off to help on an Alzheimer's course now but I'll be back to check in later!

Charleygirl Wed 16-Aug-17 11:25:03

morethan she is looking so happy and it is a front tooth. I agree, the tooth fairy will have to look at her bank account after all of the teeth have fallen out-mortgages for that I would think would be almost impossible. A very pretty young lady. How old is she?

ann you need another coffee afternoon to show off your recent hairdo.

The sun is out here and I am off to pick up a new kettle from an upmarket supermarket- so handy for me as the department store is miles away. Hopefully this one will not drips puddles of boiling water on to my work top surface.

Crafting Wed 16-Aug-17 11:10:35

Lovely girl morethan and what a beaming smile. Aren't GC wonderful.smile

Hoping paw is feeling better today maw

annsixty Wed 16-Aug-17 10:38:10

Same thoughts Greyduster

annsixty Wed 16-Aug-17 10:37:05

I hope the tooth fairy was generous. It was 10p in my Cs day I would imagine it needs a bank loan these days by the time they have all come out.
We have another nice day and I am looking particularly lovely as my home hairdresser has just been and gone ??

Greyduster Wed 16-Aug-17 10:34:54

morethan the Tooth Fairy is always very generous for a first tooth (and usually all the ones that come after, in my GS's case!). What a pretty little girl!

morethan2 Wed 16-Aug-17 10:24:39

Popping in to check onhow things are going withPaw and look after yourself too Maw thanks for your kind support everyone. A picture of my youngest granddaughter looking very proud about loosing her first tooth. She's a belter isn't she

kittylester Wed 16-Aug-17 08:56:39

I was missing yesterday - lunch out with old friends with not too good food (we won't go there again!!) but lots of lovely catching up.

I have also just dropped in for a Broon update and I'm really pleased that Paw seems to be inproving - long may it last. And breathe!!

I'll be back later too!!

NanaandGrampy Wed 16-Aug-17 08:40:28

Morning all ,

Just popping in for a maw and Paw update - and very pleased to hear things are looking up.

Ann you stretch out your birthday as long as you like smile.

Back later when I have caught up in real life and on here!!

Swanny Tue 15-Aug-17 21:14:55

soop "... the signal to break into a trot and investigate." Doesn't seem 5 minutes since we were all starting to think Rory would never break into a trot again. You and MacS have obviously got the magic wand I've been searching for smile

Love the latest sunset photo. I do like the gradual sunsets in the UK - have never got used to the 'blink and you miss it' sunsets of holidays in Mediterranean countries.

Swanny Tue 15-Aug-17 21:01:39

Maw so pleased you've been able to have a coherent chat with Paw, and do agree about not needing to give him the full details of his collapse. Good news that he's able to eat too. You are being so strong, I hope you're able to have some chillin' Maw time too xx

cornergran Tue 15-Aug-17 20:34:42

Don't forget you can also drink chocolate, maw, you deserve as much as you want in any form you want smile. Really pleased at paws progress, hope you both have a good night.

Good news about Rory too soop, he's a real trooper.

Extended birthdays are the best, ann, keep it going smile

Grandparent duties for us tomorrow so guess I'd better aim for an early night. If there is energy to spare please send some my way grin.

harrigran Tue 15-Aug-17 20:19:48

Just popped in to see if there was any news of paw, sounds promising, long may he continue to improve.
I have been to my second home in Cumbria today, first time in two years. Pleased all was well except no hot water, need to sort.
DD's silver wedding day and she is spending it in Luxemburg as it is a bank holiday in Belgium.

Jalima1108 Tue 15-Aug-17 19:49:58

For Maw, hope Paw is on the road to recovery now!

Crafting Tue 15-Aug-17 19:27:13

??????????lots of chocs for maw. You deserve it. Glad to hear paw a bit better. Hope they find out what's going on soon.
ann glad you had a nice afternoon.
Really busy at the moment so just to wish everyone a good week. Enjoy the sunshine if you have any.

Gagagran Tue 15-Aug-17 18:38:09

Sorry - should be HMS Queen Elizabeth II and the scheduled time of arrival is 7.10am. We will be watching from 6.30am just in case she comes in early.

Gagagran Tue 15-Aug-17 18:36:13

Such a relief to find better news of Paw and also, of course of our kitchen cat - *Rory. Isn't it strange and wonderful how attached we get to our virtual friends on GN? Genuine concern and support expressed by kitcheners and the sincerity is clearly there.

We have had a busier day than planned and pruned a large acer tree, made two tea breads and a banana loaf and done a fair bit of pottering. Feeling quite self-satisfied as a result!

Hoping for more good news from Maw and soop tomorrow.

If anyone is interested, the new aircraft carrier, HMS Elizabeth II is due in Portsmouth before 7am tomorrow. There is an excellent webcam at Portsmouth Harbour webcam site and it will give a good view as the new ship comes into its home port for the first time.

Charleygirl Tue 15-Aug-17 18:20:12

soop that is really good news if Rory is looking forward to his food and keeping an ear open in case one of the staff is stupid enough to give him an afternoon meal instead of making that starving cat wait until 6pm ish. It sounds as though the old Rory is coming back.

Maw that does sound hopeful. He may also get some much needed rest in a side room. It can be like Paddy's market even in a 4 bedded bay- it only takes one.

I am also pleased to hear that the staff are trying to get to the bottom of his last relapse- it was frightening for you, poor Paw was unaware until you gave him scanty details today. I do hope that you can have a decent meal this evening and have a good night's sleep.

Hopefully Hattie has settled down now and knows the routine although it has been a bit haywire recently.

Ann pleased to hear that you had a relaxed afternoon. Feel free to extend your birthday celebrations for as long as you wish.
