Yay!
Here we are again
Happy as can be
All good pals and jolly good company.

Charleygirl Thu 14-Sept-17 13:48:22

I just love his coat/jacket with the very warm hood. I never thought that Cooper was naughty- or at least not serial naughty!

The sun is shining here but it is not particularly warm. I still have not switched on the heating in the evenings to take the chill off the air but I think that day may be soon.

NanaandGrampy Thu 14-Sept-17 11:51:31

I just wanted to share a picture I took yesterday of young Cooper aged 3.

Cooper is my 'naughty boy' . Naughtiness just sticks to him. He truly can't help it some of the times and at others he's just seeing how far he can go ( a lot less far with me than his Mum and Dad that's for sure !!).

But look at this picture....butter wouldn't melt would it?

Charleygirl Thu 14-Sept-17 11:11:09

Galen that is one of the oldest working hips (THR) around that I am aware of- you were lucky with your surgeon.

N&G pleased to hear that you are sounding more your old self.

I think autumn has arrived here because Tara stayed indoors for around an hour today before she ventured outside. She had been wanting to go out before 5am but fat chance. I get up early but not that early. She has not been sick for a couple of days and it does not really worry me too much as she appears to be fine. She is due her annual trip to the vet, she is going to love that.

NanaandGrampy Thu 14-Sept-17 09:26:03

Morning all !!

What a difference a few short hours sleep makes. My cough continues to make me sound like the QE2 coming into port but I feel semi human !!

I know what you mean about your hair growing Phoenix one minute its fine then the next I look like a sheepdog peering out under a far too long fringe !!

Autumn seems to have arrived in a flurry doesn't it Maw| ? How is Paw this morning ? And how are you and Macs soop??

Sorry you have cut short your hols Grey but as you don't sound too devastated I'm guessing you're happy to be going home !!

I lost another 2lbs last night at Slimming Club and celebrated with an apple turnover ! Well a girl has to have a little pleasure in her lifewink

Glad to hear Charlie has recovered Jane . Our Sam has an enviable double coat and the rain seems to mostly just sit on the top . Then he does his dog thing when he comes in and shakes all that accumulated water on someone me !! Charming !!

Has anyone seen the advert of the 2 cats ringing a bell for cat treats? That is my mission this week. I think the GC will be delighted. Sam has a large repertoire of tricks( the boy is ruled by his belly and will sell his soul for a treat) so I am going to see if I can get him to ring a bell for a treat - watch this space !!

And you're only as old as your oldest hip Galen wink !!

Well, time for some egg and bacon I think- you have to love a good diet!!!

Happy day all !!

Galen Thu 14-Sept-17 08:50:03

My oldest hip is 23 years old and still fine

callgirl1 Wed 13-Sept-17 23:32:25

Lovely pics again Greyduster.
Sar, pleased to hear that your husband`s op went well.
Maw, so good that Paw is getting on so well.
Jane, I`m pleased for Charlie.
Mia was out during a hell of a downpour at lunchtime, complete with bouncing hailstones, don`t know where she sheltered, but she didn`t come home till it was all over.
Charleygirl, I hope Tara`s cough is soon better.

JaneD3 Wed 13-Sept-17 22:29:42

Best wishes to Sar's H and to Paw. He has been up and about more this week so perhaps he's just catching up.
Good news is that Charlie is completely recovered from his flu - no more sneezing. He came in last night dripping wet. I think it takes a long time to penetrate all that fur, so he is soaked before he knows it's raining. Eejit!

Charleygirl Wed 13-Sept-17 21:42:42

How long is it since your DH had his original THR? Is it over 12 years for each hip?

He needs at least 3 months between THRs and properly back on his feet before he should be facing another revision.

Please make sure that you have all the appliances you require before he is discharged. One blink of an eyelid and he will be out of the door.

Maw I think that Paw is taking some lessons from Hattie as she knows how to rest her body as well as her eyes.

annsixty Wed 13-Sept-17 21:42:11

Sar so pleased to read your post that the OP is over and your H is ok.
It must be awful to have to go through that with the prospect of yet another one.
I had a TKR last year and made a good recovery but my second is dodgy, to think of going through that several times with each one more complicated and difficult than the first is so daunting. Best wishes to him and to you. I hope the next few months go well for you.

Sar53 Wed 13-Sept-17 21:33:01

Thank you maw, greyduster and charleygirl for your good wishes. Just got home and all went well, left him falling asleep. Will return in the morning. Now comes the hard bit, the recovery and once he is back on his feet, in a few months, he has to have the other one redone. They had his notes from 1999 when he had the original replacement !!
maw I have been following your story, don't very often post, but paw seems to be much improved. I wish you both well. Onwards and upwards.

Charleygirl Wed 13-Sept-17 21:20:28

callgirl Tara woke me at 5am today, she was sleeping on my bed at the bottom on the other side. She started to cough and cough which usually means she is about to be sick but she did not move from the bed so I sat up and stroked her gently. She soon dozed off leaving me wide awaje. She was out all day and is now resting her eyes waiting for me to go to bed.

Sar a Revision THR can take many hours especially if there is a problem removing the old one. Hopefully he is back on the ward and sleeping peacefully now.

My car went for its MOT and small service today, £240- what would it have cost if there had been anything wrong? Labour charges are extortionate.

Autumn has arrived, I am going to bed with my 4 legged hot water bottle.

annsixty Wed 13-Sept-17 21:02:30

I would have had my eyes shut as well greyduster
I am so sorry you have such a mixed holiday and are cutting it short. It has been just as bad here.
It will surely be sod's law that next week will be fine.
Difficult week for a lot of us but we are strong and survivors. All will be well and all things will be well.
Should that be Shall?

Greyduster Wed 13-Sept-17 20:08:54

Sar I hope you now have good news of other half, and that he is recovering well.
I hope all those afflicted by coughs and colds are improving by the hour! Being poorly is not the best way to lose weight, N&G but any port in a storm! I hope the weigh-in goes well. The cold I thought I had was something and nothing, but the weather down here has worn us down so we are going home tommorrow. We'll call in on DH's sisters before we leave the Principality and go out for a jolly lunch as it will be DH's 74th birthday. Two photos - a view from the horrible narrow path we were on (he took it - I had my eyes shut!) and a bit of wild weather blowing in!

MawBroon Wed 13-Sept-17 19:35:07

I hope you have had reassuring news by now Sar53 what a good thing you live so near the hospital, they can bevdreary and uncomfortable places to wait, especially once the coffee shops shut upmshop!
What would these men do without us?
Soop what news from your GP? And how are YOU?
So many coughs and throats about and then they tell us this year is going to be the worst ever for flu!
Can somebody please wake me up in March, I think I'll just hibernate. Hattie has been practising hard and she's got it sussed !
Paw went off to bed before 7 having dozed all afternoon, fingers crossed there's nothing incubating there!

Sar53 Wed 13-Sept-17 17:43:51

My OH went in for his replacement of a replacement hip this lunchtime. I stayed with him til he went for his op at 13.45, still no news yet. They said it was a big op and would take 4'sh hours but I am sitting here a bag of nerves waiting to hear from the hospital. We only live 10 minutes away so I will go in and see him as soon as they ring. His daughters are waiting to hear from me with news as are my daughters. I hate this waiting.
I hope everyone is well this afternoon.

callgirl1 Wed 13-Sept-17 17:12:02

Soop, you haven`t said how you`re feeling today, I hope that means you`re on the up? I hope MacSporran`s visit to the surgery does some good. How is Rory?
Falls of Shin, that takes me back, we took the kids there in 1979, lovely experience.
N&G, I hope you`re starting to feel better.
Charleygirl, how is Tara today?
Very odd weather today again, off and on sun and rain, but I`ve taken a chance and hung some towels out on the line.

phoenix Wed 13-Sept-17 17:02:41

No soop not curly, just grows like a weed! Be fine for about 4 to 5 weeks after a cut, then suddenly seems to put on a spurt overnight!

soop Wed 13-Sept-17 16:48:10

phoenix Did you have your hair restyled? Is it naturally curly? When you say that it was beyond control, I thought snap same here. The only way to calm my wayward mane is to wash it. I'm about to do just that.

MacSporran is with our GP. I trust that he'll tell her all the facts, and not apologise for taking up her time! hmm

The weather is steadily improving. Lovely sunshine after a blustery few days. I'm hoping that Saturday is similar. I would so love our Dutch visitors to see Kintyre at its best. They've been to the Falls of Shin. Watched the salmon leaping.

I'm away. Ironing job in the morning. Back with you all early afternoon.

smile moon

phoenix Wed 13-Sept-17 16:28:59

Hairdressers today, it had suddenly got beyond control!

I was wondering why there was a pile of envelopes on the desk in the salon, found out it's my hairdressers birthday tomorrow, she will be 75 !!! I was shock

soop Wed 13-Sept-17 16:18:36

grin grin

NanaandGrampy Wed 13-Sept-17 15:16:40

I hope there will be pictures so I can live vicariously through you two Galen !!

Crafting Wed 13-Sept-17 14:50:32

Galen what would Gary say ?. Glad you're having a good time.

Charleygirl Wed 13-Sept-17 14:30:23

Here am I having dined on a cheese omelette and a coffee. Where did I go wrong? Even Rory dines better than I do.

Galen why not spend it- you cannot take it with you.

soop Wed 13-Sept-17 14:01:06

Ahoy there! Galen. A private launch and lunch at swanky Ciprianis sounds just the ticket. Us lot are slumming it as per. I've dined on a mackerel topped crispbread and a brew. Trust you to have the willing services of a dishy butler at your beck and call. Treat him gently and give him plenty of time to recuperate between sessions with you and downsized wink

soop Wed 13-Sept-17 12:22:51

Your message is totally uplifting. Thank you,*N&G*.

Hello Jane and Aggie. If I haven't already said - welcome then I shall do so right this minute. flowers

Maw I am thrilled to hear that our Paw is making real progress. However, it mustn't be at the cost of you becoming frazzled. You are right to stress (gently) that the carers are essential.

Hello again, phoenix it's always good to have your company.

ann If your so-called friend brings you down, she's not a true friend. I'm sorry that you felt unable to say no to the invitation. Play it "cooel" and eat cake!
