I have had a long hard think about Hattie. She is obviously in need of more cuddles, she thinks that I need more practice sleeping. I will suggest to her that we find the largest bed in her house and I join her, giving her all of the cuddles that she needs and is sadly lacking and she can relax, in ectasy. Simples.

Tara has stopped waking me really early each morning and today I was asleep until 8.30am, amazing.

Usual service is resumed here this morning ! Seems to have had a hectic few days.

Wow - that's a lot of weight overnight Maw , Poor old Paw he must be feeling most fed up by now and still too poorly. I do hope he feels just a little better soon. What a worry for you x

Ah it was yummy* Grey* , chocolate ganache with a melted salted caramel centre and the sorbet was delicious , orange and just tart enough to stop the chocolate being over powering , with a nougatine biscuit ! ( Oh be still my beating heart !!)

BUT the good news is I lost a pound last night( no I didn't drop my purse!!) I was super impressed because on top of puddings as previously mentioned we drank so much that when Grampy went to put the bottle box out for recycling today he needed help to lift it !! So I'll take that pound with gratitude !!

Today I am off for a pedicure and Jackson has requested blue sparkly toes.... I will endeavour to meet his request . Then we are off to the yearly school shoe purchase debacle. Events have conspired to keep me out of the kitchen. Nothing awful or worrying just "stuff" that needed my attention...well that and the carefully written post of a few days ago which vanished into that place where rogue posts and lost socks go!
As always happens kitchen life has moved on a pace and I've no hope of catching up. Glad to see better news of paw but still worrying re weight loss etc so hang on in there maw it must feel like you're on a never ending roller coaster.

The fridge saga sounds trying n&g but I suspect you will be tenacious in getting it sorted, that company don't realise the power of an irritated granny!! DD3 has been doing battle with her mobile provider today after signing up for a deal for free Apple Music then finding it used all her data, which was not the deal! She's her mother's daughter and stood her ground till she got compensation and and satisfaction.
While the weekend here was just like summer, it has now turned a tad chilly and the nights are definitely drawing in. I love autumn but I just don't feel ready for it just yet. It feels like I've spent the last few months waiting for summer to come but it hasn't really made a consistent appearance. But the children all go back to school next week and my voluntary commitments startup so I guess it'll be sunny then!

maw I realise in paw's case losing so much weight is a worry especially as he has been so poorly recently. My DH has a strange sort of waterworks problem which means he retains fluid during the day and loses it via numerous trips to the loo overnight (his day and night body mechanisms are the wrong way round). He frequently weighs 5 or 6 ponds less in the morning and when we came back from holiday recently he lost 8 pounds in one day. I only mention this because it is possible to lose a lot of weight if it's fluid related. I do hope paw starts to improve soon. ((Hugs))

I've read up to date but am totally jiggered so won't comment on anything apart from to say I'll eat any puddings that might put weight on, I don't care! And thank you cherrytrees that solved that. It's not really an excuse though. The lovely bird begins with N and and the spelling is 'ni...I..g. e' which had me flummoxed intil I realised it was Nightingale - part of every toddler's every day experience and vocabulary!

Part of my Tesco order delivered this morning needs to go upstairs, so I put the things on the stairlift, ready for when I go to bed. Mia keeps going for a look, then coming back and giving me accusing looks before settling on the settee arm instead.

soop it is a well known fact that Rory still has a hard life. In fairness I think he has blocked out his past life but the present one is not easy either.

It has been raining here most of the day but when Tara came home having spent 12 hours out of the house, there were a couple of rain drops on her. She is resting her eyes lying on her bed.

It may be a tad colder tonight and if so, Tara will tunnel between the baby quilt and the duvet cover. I would not like that cat to suffer from hypothermia.

Puddings have the same affect on me. They beg me to succumb. I always do. It's the most sensible option.

Maw I agree with our Baggs. That's an awful lot of weight for Paw to lose in so short a time. Please may Paw's recovery start very soon. You've both had far too many buggerations to deal with.
Hattie has found herself a wonderful new home. Rory says so.

After a damp start, the weather has turned around and the sun is shining. Rory has had the most trying of days. Eat, sleep, yawn, awaken, whinge, eat etc. I don't know how he copes. The cat protection league would be utterly dismayed to think that he has to put up with so much hassle.

Hospital weighing "chairs" should not change from day to day but I suppose tomorrow's weight may shed some light especially if today was a glitch.
I can gain up to 3lb in the course of a day, especially if it is hot as I retain fluid, so there may be an explanation in that. He has to guard against dehydration though as diuretics and inadequate fluids are not a good combination and can put a dangerous strain on his kidneys -which is where we came in!

I am practicing at the moment, mawb. . All is now quiet and I have no intention of moving in the foreseeable future.

I wonder if paws weight loss could be partly at least due to an error in the weighing process? If not it doesn't sound the best. Hope tomorrow brings some stability.

Hattie and I would get along like a house on fire- I can also sleep for my country as can she. I think that she is fully settled and relaxed in her newish abode seeing the latest pose. I am amazed she can fit in the time to go for two walks a day.

Poor Paw he can ill afford to lose 2kg whereas I would not notice if I lost that amount daily.

N&G it could have been a lot worse!

We have done the climb into the very top of the Eden main dome. The only thing that I found offputting was the fact that the top gantry moved slightly when you walked on it, but apart from that, it was enjoyable, and I'm not keen on heights. A bit clammy though!
Ttch!! There should be a law against puddings that harass poor unsuspecting punters into eating them - it happens to me often. I might start a campaign to get it outlawed. That one does look rather yummy though, N&G.....
Maw I need lessons from Hattie in how to put my feet up and stay sane. It is driving me bonkers. Hope there is an upswing in Paw's condition before too much longer ?. Surely 2kg can't all be down to fluid can it?

If anybody is wondering why I deleted yesterday's post, I had copied and pasted part of it, being lazy, as part of my "Dad update " round robin email and stupidlycopied the "add comment""at the top of the box which opened a link to GN . DD spotted it was a gransnet post by clicking the link!

I thought I was going to have to name change or de register but I have decided to leave well alone and hope that nothing I post upsets anybody!
Paw was a bit less upbeat today (men can do "pathetic" very well when they so choose) and I and the nurses are still struggling to get him to drink enough. He has also lost nearly 2kg since yesterday (fluid?) and can't afford to do that.
So we struggle on.
To fellow Kitcheners who have been in the wars I wish you all a painfree recovery as soon as humanly possible.
In the meantime, take a leaf out of Hattie's book and put your feet up.

As long as one has at least one sock on Grey one is properly dressed !!( or some such nonsense) .

I am in a huff!! Having had a long phone call from the camping supplier of the recently missing fridge I bought my daughter. They need ME to fill out their insurance forms !! A long debate followed , my thoughts being :

I bought the fridge
You ( or your courier) lost the fridge
You sent out a 2nd fridge
The first fridge was suddenly found and arrived
the 2nd fridge never arrived and has disappeared.

Am I mad to think the they need to fill out the forms and deal with the courier, that part of the contract is nothing to do with me ??

Anyway, I am in a huff because I have also put a 1lb on I think ( that will be confirmed in front of 60 women later on) and I'm fed up . Although this pudding ( see picture ) is the culprit and it forced itself on me !!!!!

I saw on line a tracking kit for cats but as it cost over £100 I decided that I will have to remain unaware of what Tara gets up to during her 12 hour stints outdoors.

We were cross examined about our ability to climb steps at the Eden Project when we wanted to go up into the top of the dome for their 'rainforest' experience. I had great pleasure in telling the (young!) inquisitor that we had recently returned from a real rain forest when we had climbed far higher. We were allowed in .

corner my SiL, who can be described as nothing if not a game old gal, tried to book onto the Penrhyn quarry zip wire experience in North Wales - the longest in Europe, apparently - when she was up there with her daughter. To my neice's immense relief, they wouldn't let her. Dunno why. She's only eighty - a mere spring chicken! She fears absolutely nothing and never has. I admire her immensely.

Well, I guess if you must have an accident you did it properly. anno. Please be careful now, that accident is enough for a lifetime. Hope you aren't too uncomfortable.

Goodness, greyduster, you are in the wars again. Still, some progress if you can now manage one sock. What happens to the other foot? I'm envious of your grandson, have always wanted to go in a zip wire or indeed to abseil. The family say I would break my neck, hmm, could be right .

It's art afternoon here after a trip to a local museum this morning. Art means I can sit down. Mr C says he will clear up afterwards. Wonderful .
