All good pals and jolly good company.

Good afternoon dear Granspal kitcheners. Home, where I belong. Pleased to kick off my shoes and enjoy a couple of cups of coffee.

anno you have my sympathy. A fall is a real buggeration no matter when it occurs. Take it easy and give yourself time to mend.

Greyduster It appears that you are making slow but sure progress since you "put your back out". That type of pain is unbelievably debilitating.
As for bites. Snap! I must have fed a plague of midges over the weekend. I have been bedevilled with itchiness ever since.

Greyduster Wed 30-Aug-17 13:18:39

We are making progress, N&G in that I can now stand upright and put one sock on! I have some exercises which are similar to those that Maw kindly suggested, but with the additional involvement of rolling from side to side with the knees tucked up. I went to an osteopath years ago after my slipped disc, and he was brilliant, but sadly he no longer practices. My latest plague is that I am covered in bites, presumably from my foray into the jungle that is my garden flower beds on Sunday, or maybe from my fishing trip, but they are driving me bananas at the mo. I even have a couple in a place you would never think anything would bite you (well, not insects anyway!!?). Tea tree oil is my best friend at the present.
My GS and his mummy had an exciting afternoon yesterday organised by the National Trust at Longshaw in the Peak District. They had to zip wire across a quarry, then abseil down a cliff face before rock climbing back up again! See photo. I have always had a horror of climbing, though I was quite happy to go caving (which often involves an element of climbing) in my younger days ( anyone remember those?). GS said it was awesome! hmm.

Morning all !!

Lots to catch up on here !!

Sorry to hear MacS has more to face soop . Hope all goes well.

Sorry you're feeling a little low Swanny , perhaps you can focus on small pleasures for now until you feel better.

Corner yes you're right , I shall plan a visit. I suspect I was just feeling my age and it seems ( and IS) that I am so much nearer the end than the beginning !!

My diet has definitely NOT gone well this weekend, but I shall take comfort tonight from knowing why I have not lost anything I just hope I haven't put anything on ( fat chance !!)

Sorry to hear your back is still bad Grey . I swear by our osteopath .

Hope you've finishing stomping on your hopeless BiL Kitty now I know a few people Id like to do that too smile

Anno so sorry to hear of your fall. What a buggeration !!

Well, I am sure I have missed someone out, so very sorry. Things move apace here !!

Maw , what news of Paw? Now you have sorted the nursing staff out... god help the poor souls who have no one !

Charleygirl Wed 30-Aug-17 09:22:27

anno not quite the holiday ending that you were looking forward to- a mountain of washing is preferable to that- the shock is horrendous and I would think that it is still hitting you now. Is it your dominant arm or are you like me, can manage fine with either?

#ing your humerus is a definite buggeration as it is difficult to move your shoulder but you must as I am sure you have been told.

I do hope that you have help at home because cooking is difficult. Rest and all best wishes for you.

annsixty Wed 30-Aug-17 09:03:17

What an end to your holiday anno and so close to home.
I hope you soon get over the shock. Who is going to do that mountain of washing and ironing?
Very best wishes for a very speedy recovery.

Iam64 Wed 30-Aug-17 09:00:17

Welcome home Anno and was a B indeed about the fall and all that went with it. Shall you need any help with daily stuff? Rest sounds essential x

Greyduster Wed 30-Aug-17 08:57:21

Blimey, Anno that was some tumble! What an end to your holiday! I hope you have plenty of help at home to accelerate your recovery ?.

harrigran Wed 30-Aug-17 08:45:52

Sorry to hear of your fall anno, shock and pain must be dreadful, take care of yourself.

moomin Wed 30-Aug-17 07:41:15

Oh dear anno a buggeration indeed, painful and difficult to manage one handed isn't it. Hope the fracture heals as quickly as is medically possible flowers

kittylester Wed 30-Aug-17 07:15:38

That is what's known as a real buggeration anno. Poor you. I hope you are not in too much pain and that you have adequate help. And, of course, chunter to us if it helps. flowers

MawBroon Tue 29-Aug-17 23:24:33

Oh anno I am so sorry to hear that!
I suppose it is little consolation that it at least happened after your holiday and not before?
I hope you are not more shaken up by it than you perhaps are letting on and that you have got help to look after you while you are incapacitated.
Gute Besserung?.

Bellanonna Tue 29-Aug-17 22:46:15

So sorry anno', that's nasty for you. I know healing takes time but I do wish you all the best for as speedy a recovery as possible.

annodomini Tue 29-Aug-17 22:22:04

Back from holiday today, only to have a spectacular fall on Poynton Station platform, resulting in a fractured humerus, a grazed knee and a large 'egg' on my head. The ambulance took an hour to arrive but the paramedics were wonderful as were the trauma staff at Macclesfield hospital. I'm now at home with a sling, waiting to hear from the fracture clinic. My sympathy to everyone else in pain and/or distress. moon

Charleygirl Tue 29-Aug-17 21:57:18

corner I thought that you had finally lost it! So glad I do not possess an iPad because you are not alone, they on occasions appear to take over.

cornergran Tue 29-Aug-17 19:52:10

Oops. Silly iPad. Meant charley of course. Oh dear, no hope, is there?

cornergran Tue 29-Aug-17 19:51:17

chadkey grin.

Swanny Tue 29-Aug-17 19:17:26

Maw ? xx

Charleygirl Tue 29-Aug-17 18:38:15

Maw you are definitely allowed to fall asleep when watching TV. You have been through enough buggeration at MK so you need to rest at home and Hattie will allow you to do that. Methinks that gorgeous girl has settled down to her new life very well. With her black coat and my eyesight I cannot see her on the sofa.

Paw was lucky he was allocated an HCA today who cared. Hopefully he is now fully hydrated and beginning to feel himself.

corner I am beginning to think that you maybe one of the 98% of people (my personal thoughts) who should never have animals if you are telling callgirl to leave a hairbrush on the chair. Mia will soon get bored and decide that there are other comfortable spots where she can rest her eyes undisturbed. Tara retires to the bed in the 3rd bedroom knowing that I will not go near her and she is very content.

soop you need to rest as you have been running around for days and standing ironing tomorrow will not help.

callgirl1 Tue 29-Aug-17 18:07:07

David`s aortic aneurysm was only found when he was having a CT scan to see if his bowel cancer had spread. The aneurysm was then prioritised, because they couldn`t do anything about the bowel cancer until that was sorted, meaning that he had 2 major ops in just over a month.

soop Tue 29-Aug-17 17:53:50

A gentle, virtual hug for all those of you who need some tender loving care. I apologise for falling well behind with responding to your news.

Ironing duties for my pal in the morning. After which, if I'm lucky, I shall be with you all again.

smile moon

soop Tue 29-Aug-17 17:49:26

I do love you lot. You never cease to inspire and amuse me in times of buggerations. I've been ironing and going over and over and over again, (as you do) the meeting we had yesterday with the cardiovascular consultant. Had MacSporran not had a scan to detect and locate his swollen lymph glands, he would not have discovered that he had an aortic aneurysm or, indeed, the popliteal aneurysms. So, you are right. What a difference a day can make.

Maw pleased to hear the latest Paw update.

callgirl1 Yes, the property prices in the village are very reasonable right now. You would fit well into "our village". I've yet to say how happy I am that you are to become a great grandmother (again).

cornergran Tue 29-Aug-17 17:28:02

What a difference a day makes, maw. Long may it last

Mia continues to make me smile, callgirl. Have you thought of putting something like a hairbrush on the seat - remembering to take it off when you need it - to see if she would take the hint? Although I anticipate charley reporting me to the RSPCA in the very near future grin.

Granny detail over for today, they are back again in the morning. I'm looking forward to it, I think smile.

callgirl1 Tue 29-Aug-17 16:52:06

Methinks Hattie is going to be a tad spoilt. I don`t remember any pics of Grace on the sofa. bless `er! Good to hear that Paw is back "on the up", long may it continue.
Still fighting the battle with Mia. I had to come down to the toilet at 5.30am, she eventually deigned to move, then sat at the top of the stairs, waiting, when I got back to the top, she jumped straight back on again.
Soop, I saw a cottage for sale last night, at Clachan, in the village, very reasonable price, how I wish I could sell up and move up there!

MawBroon Tue 29-Aug-17 16:49:43

Not merely sitting -"resting my eyes" or as charley might say
<whispers> sleeping!

Galen Tue 29-Aug-17 16:05:11

A two sofa house? There's posh for you!?
