Today, I will do one thing to help myself.
It doesn't matter how small the step is, as long as it helps me move forward.

Looters are often those who have less materially than others, and less to lose socially from being seen to loot. That is not an excuse for looting, but it could be put forward as a reason for them to be tempted.

We all know what she meant
It happened to be in that part of the world, we saw what we should have expected to see without any need for comment.
If it had been in China we would have expected to see Chinese.

As you can't say what it was, illtellhim, why bother mentioning it at all?

lemongrove Tue 12-Sept-17 09:47:54

I think that self help 'comments' if a person has very low self esteem can be a good thing illtellhim but it became fashionable a good while ago for everybody to do this kind if thing.
It's a fine line between self help and selfishness on a grand scale, and over focussing on ones own ego.Navel gazing etc.

Note to you: "being PC", I'm not sure you should have added your last sentence. Not very nice IMO. (Not thst I even saw the footage you refer to)

Note to self

Just because something bad happened or didn't go the way I hoped, I will not let it ruin my whole day by constantly thinking about it. I will give everything over to my better self and focus on all the things that didn't go wrong and all that is right in my world instead.

I was watching the news reports on the looting that was happening during and after the weather turned nasty in Florida last night and something very obvious stood about the looters, but begin PC I can't possibly say what it was.

Who says bus queues are boring?

lemongrove Mon 11-Sept-17 19:35:11

Thanks, very interesting, now we know!

And although the hot water shower was very nice Elegran unfortunately I was at the bus stop at the time.?
Who dat?

Elegran Mon 11-Sept-17 18:09:24

Seek and ye shall find! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Who_Dat%3F

Elegran Mon 11-Sept-17 18:07:31

Well before the Goons - could be prewar!

kittylester Mon 11-Sept-17 17:51:39

At least!!

lemongrove Mon 11-Sept-17 17:48:56

Yes, I enjoyed your shower, very nice.?

Now we shall all have a ?

lemongrove Mon 11-Sept-17 17:47:46

Oh, yes, quite right Elegran it was 'who dat down dere'
Either we share the same Father or it was a popular skit at the time, maybe The Goons? Probably the latter, but with my Father, you never could tell.?

kittylester Mon 11-Sept-17 09:43:33

Or, do you only think you can, Elegran? I think I might go for a lie down now!

Elegran Mon 11-Sept-17 09:30:05

Now I am off for a shower. It is very pleasant to think that you can feel the sensation of hot water pouring over you.

Elegran Mon 11-Sept-17 09:27:25

And I was looking up the exact quote about the wise child who knows his father as you were typing about YOUR father. Which of us imagined who?

Elegran Mon 11-Sept-17 09:25:53

He also said "Who dat down dere?" but that is no longer PC

Elegran Mon 11-Sept-17 09:25:10

lemongrove Maybe your father was my father. That was one of his quotes - sometimes the cellar, sometimes the window.

Elegran Mon 11-Sept-17 09:23:16

Little lamb, who made thee
Dost thou know who made thee?
Gave thee life & bid thee feed.
By the stream & o'er the mead?
William Blake, The Lamb, songs of Innocence

"My mother," answered Telemakhos, "tells me I am son to Odysseus, but it is a wise child that knows his own father."
Homer, Odyssey

lemongrove Mon 11-Sept-17 09:17:20

Now, my Father used to say that Elegran only it was a man shouting into a cellar ( possibly at The Argy Bargy Bar.)
The question is, who said it first?
I am prepared to believe that in an alternative Universe, you are actually my Father.

Elegran Mon 11-Sept-17 09:13:53

Man looking out of upper window into darkness: "Who's that down there?"

Man in garden: "Who's that up there saying Who's that down there?"

From above: "Who's that down there saying Who's that up there saying Who's that down there?"

"Who's that up there saying Who's that down there saying Who's that up there saying Who's that down there?"

"Who's that down there saying Who's that up there saying Who's that down there saying Who's that up there saying Who's that down there?"

etc ad nauseam.

lemongrove Mon 11-Sept-17 09:11:50

I invented ALL OF YOU!

kittylester Mon 11-Sept-17 09:10:38

But, who invented you Elegran?

Elegran Mon 11-Sept-17 09:07:29

kitty so you must have invented ann and her conviction that SHE invented it. But you can't have, because I did, AND I invented you and your invention of ann

Elegran Mon 11-Sept-17 09:05:33

Uninvent the unlovely ones and keep the fridge door closed!
