New to Gransnet?

Good morning

Very new to this web site. Living my life partly in Scotland partly in Spain. Don't know any Grandparents in Spain so Im thinking that this group will do me the world of good. Had some real positive answers in a question I had yesterday. It certainly made me feel that I wasn't alone anymore. The Spanish do things completely differently.... And my husband and I want to get things right from the word go.

Hi I havnt had a period for three years and then start d bleeding heavy , scan showed thickening of the womb should be 4 mm mines was 6mm . Having a hysterectomy done and a biopsy under ga tomorrow . Ovaries were fine and cervix were fine on scan . Worried has anyone else gone through the same thing or similar thanks

Welcome Barleysugar. If you want to meet others for coffee the easiest method is to look for meetups but please state it is Cornwall where you live and maybe mention a cafe/place that would be accessible to a few.

Hello Everyone, I joined quite a while ago, but have only very recently started to join in, although I do read lots of the forums with interest.

I live in mid Cornwall with my husband, retired about 15 years ago, & have 2 sons, 3 grandchildren, children? The eldest being nearly 30! One great grandson too. I would be happy to meet up with other others for coffee, lunch or whatever.

There may well be others from Colchester who would like to meet for a coffee. If you go on to meet up mention you live at Colchester because otherwise, I doubt if you will get any replies.

I have been meeting 3 GNs for 4 years now monthly to give you an idea.

Good afternoon all from Colchester, just recently joined, am retired however look after grandchildren (which I adore doing), walk dog, go to the gym and various other things. Today due to the very grey day am staying in and have been doing some dressmaking. Hope to meet and have some interesting conversations with others on this forum.

oh, meant to add ..I read a post from Gransnet that had been posted regarding advice on children's behaviour somewhere maybe 6 months ago and only just now got around to posting as one of my immediate dilemas is to get myself organised...so caught up with everyone else I forget what I really need to do!

My youngest son has been married to a person that we have
Bent over backwards to welcome her to our family. For whatever her reason is
She and my son never come visit, no Christmas with them but she celebrates Dec. 24/25 with her parents and siblings.
When our grandson was born in
2016, she never came to visit us for over a year and since now has only visited maybe 4x’s. We were allowed to travel to their home (2 hrs away) and when we would visit she usually goes off to herself and constantly is texting someone (her mom)
I wasn’t able to watch or keep GS until one night I received a text from my son asking
Me to watch GS and her daughter for the weekend but would I meet an hour away and pick up kids.
I agreed because I knew this was the only way we could bond with him.
So now we will get him and his stepsister 4-6x’s a year if I meet them.
I believe my DIL has realized she has an easy babysister so she can get away. Her mother only likes to
Keep them and hour or two.
She still doesn’t come to my home and visit.
They have never attended a Christmas but will make plans with us on another day and usually cancels it.
She cancels all extended family events but invites them to her events.
Everyone in the family has commented on this! I quit making excuses for them. In fact I will begin to tell extended family not to invite them anymore.
Now here’s the icing on the cake, Me, MH and sons took off work for two days and stayed in hotel to help them move. Her mom was the only support she had from her side .
She posted on Facebook about moving to a new home and making new memories and pics of the kids in the house, and then thanked the village of workers for helping
We were not named personally in her post at all. Then her mom commented with Thanks to MS’s family (us) for coming in like an army and helping to get the job done!
After these years of her nonsense, that comment of my DIL’s I felt like being stabbed in the heart.
I have been so kind and positive and I keep my
Mouth shut when it concerns the kids, I give her nice gifts but I feel crapped on.
I can’t say much because MS will defend her no matter what!!!
Help me, I feel I can barely tolerate her narcissistic Behavior any longer but in order to see son and GS I have to see her and I’m to a point where I’m ready
To just distance myself with her and them.
Appreciate all opinions.
