Any new joiners? smile If you've recently signed up to Gransnet or have been around a while but haven't got round to posting anything yet, please pop over to Welcome to Gransnet to introduce yourself and have a virtual cup of cafe or wine.

Hi, I'm a newbie but have been active on Mumsnet for about 8 years. Still a mum to 3 but delighted to have received the news that I will be a grandmother in September. I'm menopausal, working full time with one still at home and wondering how I am going to be the supernan I want to be; especially as my GC2B will be living about 45 minutes from me. Looking forward to some friendly and frank exchanges of views on here.

Charleygirl5 Fri 08-Mar-19 09:34:40

Welcome, bluenun. Be aware that not all of the exchanges will be friendly and that can be on a very bland subject!

H1954 Fri 08-Mar-19 09:45:22

Hi and welcome bluenun! Many congratulations on the forthcoming GC! You must be thrilled. I have four and they're a joy.

I have to agree with Charleygirl5, some topics are a bit bland but then you don't have to comment. There are also some members who can be rather "rude" but on the whole GN is not formative and supportive. I've been a member for just a few months but now have two "pen pals", one here in the U.K. and one in New Zealand!

H1954 Fri 08-Mar-19 09:46:38

Oooops, meant to say GN IS informative! So sorry, typing way too fast for a Friday. ?

I've been on here a little while but I'm damned if I can remember when I joined. I think I drifted in from Mumsnet - or did I? We're kinder on here.
I like to read others' opinions and ideas. I love the limericks - they are very inventive. I got over-excited about them and duplicated a new one - silly me!
My head isn't fluffy - honest! I'm quite serious but I suppose 'you could say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one' as John Lennon sang.

Well hello, I have been looking for quite a while to find something a little interesting for me, the name says it all. Well having a look throo some of the conversations, funny, I like vintage everything, the joy of dressing rather differently and thoroughly enjoying
it, apart from when I put my leathers on and become a BIKER yahoo, I love going on a holiday, anybody want to join me sometime this year?

Charleygirl5 Fri 08-Mar-19 22:09:36

Hello, I am blind and so, therefore, must use the computer with specialised audible software. I usually listen to GransNet whilst at our Blind Club which we like to call VIP Club - VIP = Visually Impaired People. I'd just like to say thank you on behalf of everyone here for creating a group about something close to our hearts (our Grandchildren

Oh if any of you have any VIP friends and want help/information then please just ask

Welcome *Gustheguidedog I am partially sighted with AMD, the dry variety so no cure and probably not in my life time.

Charleygirl5 Sat 09-Mar-19 16:08:09

Sorry, I meant to say that Gus is a handsome fellow as is your grandchild. I am assuming your GC is a boy!

Panache Sun 10-Mar-19 15:14:41

A warm welcome to Gusthe guidedog and the handsome little fella in the picture.
Another one with age related MD of the dry variety here, and so good to know of your group

I am new here. Feel isolated from grandchildren and want to join.

lindadrew Tue 12-Mar-19 17:13:46

too smiley but ok

lindadrew Tue 12-Mar-19 17:15:32

hope to meet up with other grandparents who also feel isolated from grandchildren and wish they could see more of them. I feel it is outside forces preventing meetings as it happened with my father, grandfather, cousins etc

Charleygirl5 Tue 12-Mar-19 17:58:37

welcome on board lindadrew

Hi all. I'm new - well, new to Gransnet and grandparenting: my granddaughter was born 3 weeks ago yesterday. Unfortunately I don't have any cake, but I do have a cup of tea.

Charleygirl5 Thu 14-Mar-19 15:41:32

Welcome cyclingknitter- you might have brought better weather with you!!!

Tweets1964 Tue 19-Mar-19 22:49:57

Hello everyone, I am new to the forum. I am not a Gran - 3 children and none in relationships... [hmmm] Maybe one day...

I initially joined after googling about plastic surgery and found myself on here of all places. wink I then noticed there are other forum subjects, too. Menopause -- sigh.

I love the outdoors and walk regularly, albeit that's to keep fit.

I've got 4 chickens: Barbie, Sindy, Mabel and Miss Muffet. Barbie and Sindy were ex battery hens.

That's all for now.

Marydoll Tue 19-Mar-19 22:52:55

Welcome, Tweets1964. We are a friendly bunch here.

I joined Gransnet yesterday, found it while I was looking for an alternative

Kandinsky Wed 20-Mar-19 11:45:59

Alternative to what?
