Oooops, meant to say GN IS informative! So sorry, typing way too fast for a Friday. ?

Hi and welcome bluenun! Many congratulations on the forthcoming GC! You must be thrilled. I have four and they're a joy.

I have to agree with Charleygirl5, some topics are a bit bland but then you don't have to comment. There are also some members who can be rather "rude" but on the whole GN is not formative and supportive. I've been a member for just a few months but now have two "pen pals", one here in the U.K. and one in New Zealand!

Welcome, bluenun. Be aware that not all of the exchanges will be friendly and that can be on a very bland subject!

Hi, I'm a newbie but have been active on Mumsnet for about 8 years. Still a mum to 3 but delighted to have received the news that I will be a grandmother in September. I'm menopausal, working full time with one still at home and wondering how I am going to be the supernan I want to be; especially as my GC2B will be living about 45 minutes from me. Looking forward to some friendly and frank exchanges of views on here.

Good morning, I have been following GN for the last 5 years but this is my first post! I have recently retired so now have lots of me time. I'm looking forward to getting to know you all a little better as I have always enjoyed reading your posts and comments.

Granbythe sea you are more likely to get a reply if you open a separate thread. Welcome by the way.

Last post should read doting new parents.

Good morning, I’m preparing myself for an imminent new grandchild being given a very unusual name. I’m sure many grandparents have been blown away by a previously unheard of name when their new GC is born. Tips please on how not to react in front of the firing parents??

Welcome NannyHill. It is difficult diving in but if you start off with soop's kitchen and maybe get to know the people who use that you will get to "know" them. It is a very gentle thread and everybody is civil to each other but many are really quite ill at present.

I’m new to gransnet joined a few weeks ago. Have been reading the forums, found them very interesting but haven’t posted anything yet. Would love to join in but not used to airing my views to everyone. Anyone got any tips.

Hi all, I'm here after searching for menopause advice and thought as my daughter is expecting my first grandchild in August, it would be good to have some like-minded pals to turn to. I'm in West Yorkshire ?

Hi all.

I've been a member for a month or so and having just moved home I use GN as a substitute coffee gathering!

I live on my own but have a wonderful 20 month old Lab/retriever named Martin who's training to be my assistance dog. I also have two grown sons, but no GC on the horizon just yet.

Welcome Specs- a few do shuffle over from Mumsnet but not all stay!

Hi, Found and joined Gransnet about a month ago via Mumsnet. Suits me perfectly. Love listening to other people’s experiences. Think I’ll be using GN more when the weather’s bad. This last week has been fantastic so my iPad has stayed shut.

Thank to the organisers and the many lovely contributors whose posts I have learnt so much from. ??

Hello, just joined today, but been a lurker for some time.
I am nana to eight beautiful grandchildren, ranging in age from one to twenty one.
Divorced and happy, with lovely family and friends. Feel lucky.

Hello,I have only just seen this thread.I have been reading the forums for a couple of years, started posting on the good morning thread at the beginning of the year and have made one or two tentative comments on other threads.I have one granddaughter from my eldest daughter who is expecting another baby later in the year and a grandson from my youngest daughter.I look after GD two days a week and see GS as often as possible but as they live a couple of hours away is usually every few weeks.

Charleygirl5 Mon 25-Feb-19 21:35:39

Welcome PickledCarrots. If you want a reply it may be better to open your own thread on that subject. I personally do not believe in sending anybody packing- I think there is a slot for the majority of people. If you have come from Mumsnet you know how volatile it can become there and occasionally similar happens on certain threads here.

Hello, I’ve come over to gransnet from Mumsnet.
I’m the mum of a ten year old girl, but I’m 54. I’m not quite sure where I fit in ??.
Both groups perhaps.
Most of my contemporary are planning their retirement and looking forward to grandchildren.
But I have a new, younger bunch of friends ‘at the school gate’. Any thoughts about this being a good group for me. Or will you send me packing back to mumsnet?

Welcome SA57. Try soop's kitchen if you want a site where you will always get help and never have your head bitten off.

SA57 Mon 25-Feb-19 19:21:26

Hello everyone, hope to join in with the lovely conversations, a little shy and unsure but hope to be able to navigate the site ok.

Charleygirl5 Sun 24-Feb-19 21:37:06

Welcome and yes, I suggest you go to a different forum if you want help.

Sorry but I am also totally useless so would be of little help to you.

Hello. Just joined today. I’ve already got three gorgeous grandsons from my son and his partner but now my daughter is pregnant. It’s very early days (9 weeks) but I’m excited to be more involved this time. I was included in so much along with the other gran first time, quite a lot second time but I’ve felt left out third time and since. No ones fault, I’m not here to lay any blame. My daughter has asked me to make something - oh dear, what?? I’m not artistic, I can’t knit, I can’t sew. Any ideas or do I go to a different forum?
