Welcome all new Gransnet users!

sarahmob, would you mind letting us know what grandparenting issue brought you here? It's helpful for us to know what's useful info for other grandparents. smile

Grammaretto Thu 15-Nov-18 09:14:09

Sarahmob welcome!
I joined for much the same reason and find it both comforting and reassuring but also like the intelligent and funny discussions. Can't think how I missed it for so long.
Good luck with the new caring role. I may need advice from you.

Hi I joined Gransnet yesterday when I had it pop up on a search I did regarding a grand parenting issue. My grandson has just turned a year old and I have taken on some of his care upon my daughter returning to work. I’m semi-unofficially - retired but still pick up odd bits of supply teaching. Looking forward to getting to know new friends through the site.

I'm in Australia and couldn’t find an Aussie site similar to gransnet
Leavingnormal; Ditto! I'm in Melbourne where today we've had a very welcome wet one.grin Whereabouts are you?
Welcome to Gransnet. I'm an "Old Boy"; member since April '18 and often thought an Aussie look- alike site might be as interesting, but then maybe not. This one has such a broad range of interests and is always appreciative of my (male) contributions. grin
Hope to hear from you soon!smile
Good Health

Hello.
I happened upon this forum for over 50 and I think there will be lots of topics of interest to me so I joined. I live in the United States with my husband. We both still work but are looking toward retirement. We have grown children and 6 grandchildren, with the youngest two being 9 and 10 years old.

Welcome Janineelsa, many dog and cat lovers here and many who love walking too ?

Janineelsa Sun 11-Nov-18 17:19:08

New today, found via google as life at times can be a bit lonely but I do enjoy my own company most times.
Love the outdoors, animals, walking and most things really

Janineelsa Sun 11-Nov-18 17:17:15

A woman like me !
I love walking but am painfully slow. Am out doors mainly have a OH but he lives in his house and I live in mine with my 5 dogs 3 horses and 3 cats.

Hi everyone

Have been reading the forums for a couple of weeks and I’ve posted once already. I’m in Australia and couldn’t find an Aussie site similar to gransnet. I’m virtually housebound and don’t get to talk to other women who are around my age. I’ve really enjoyed reading the opinions of gransnet members.

MissAdventure Wed 07-Nov-18 16:02:06

Yep, and I love the name Nanoo'! smile

Nanoo15 Wed 07-Nov-18 15:38:04

I’m not really a new member, have read and enjoyed forums for a long time and been inspired by what is written so many times, but for some reason never joined in. Time to start, don’t you think?

MissAdventure Sun 28-Oct-18 23:09:51

Hello Shelley smile

Shelleys3259 Sun 28-Oct-18 20:38:52

Have just joined GN this evening. Have had a look at some of the posts & threads & I am looking forward to meeting & chatting to new people. It was my daughter who suggested the site to me, so will see how we go!!!

Nice to hear from you Sasperilla. You're very welcome.

Sasperilla Sun 28-Oct-18 14:18:05

Hi all !! I am a lurker on grans net and mums net and have enjoyed lurking on both. I'm not yet a gran but at 53 have much in common with people on grans net and also find it reassuring to read threads on things like retirement and find that there definitely is life after retirement !!

I would love if there were some local forums for Irish people but fair enough that grans net is a UK based forum

I have a daughter studying nursing in the UK and she has been shown great kindness and support by everyone and I greatly enjoy my trips to visit her !

When I read the posts on grans net I usually imagine them as being from wise, tolerant people who have learnt a lot from life. Sometimes the posts on mums net are a bit harsher by comparison although I identify and understand both!

I've not got tons of free time with kids husband and job but will post when possible and revert to lurking when not !

Best wishes to all !!!

loopyloo Thu 25-Oct-18 08:39:10

Welcome to all new Gns. Find this place gives a lot of help and advice and a lot of interesting viewpoints as well.

Grammaretto Mon 22-Oct-18 19:42:46

Oh yes. Some of ours are almost teenagers and it was so recently we were meeting them for the first time.
Mind you we have suddenly grown old. How did that happen?
Enjoy every moment Lynnypie

varian Mon 22-Oct-18 19:14:03

Contgratulations Lynnypir on becoming a granny, and on becoming a Gransnetter.

We grannies have all experienced that feeling of wonderment and overwhelming love, tinged with anxiety for their future, when we saw our first grandchild for the first time.

My advice is - give your grandchild as much love and attention as you possibly can and make the most of all the time you have together as they grow up so fast.

Has anyone else noticed that your grandchildren seem to grow up much faster than your children?

Jalima1108 Sun 21-Oct-18 23:09:25

I wanted to ask does every new grandma find they have a whole lot of new worry for this tiny baby that has just entered into their lives??
Oh yes Lynnypie!

and welcome smile
