As Kittylester says, you would get more replies if you head your thread with WHERE you want to meet people. These "Local" posts are not really local - they all appear together, for everyone.

There are a dozen or twenty threads started each week on Gransnet by people who want to meet, but some don't say where in the header, and when you come to think of it, everyone is local to where they live, all ten thousand or so of them (or however many members they are now) !

They could be living in your town, but not post an answer because they don't know where you are local TO until they have decided to read the rest of your post, and they won't do that unless you catch their eye with the name of the area. THEY WON'T READ A THREAD JUST CALLED "LOCAL" (sorry to shout)

There could be at least seven separate threads already, from those who have posted here, each with a location visible to those looking at a list of headings.
