Another vote here for Cremola pudding mix, it was yummy

C&A - still take the chance to go shopping there if I am in another European country where they remain a going concern. Loved their Clock House range

Gypsy cream biscuits
And I second the Golden Wonder Smoky bacon crisps LadyGracie.

Any one else remember half-day closing on Wednesdays? When did we become such a 'must have it now' nation? I quite miss the anticipation of waiting while I saved up for a special item.

Golden Fry Onion Gravy Powder - I used it for forty years, then it became harder to get (& I used to buy a dozen jars at a time so that DD & DS could take three home when they visited...) Then only Morrisons stocked it -- and it was finally discontinued altogether 'due to lack of demand'... 😱
DS said sadly, 'No more proper gravy Mum' - and he was quite right, as nothing else comes close... As you can probably tell, I'm still bitter fifteen years later...😥

Cremola Foam drink. Came in a little tin, spooned into glass of water , different flavours, then it would bubble up just like Andrews Liver Salts!

Junket, I used to love it when I was a child; proper sherbet lemons with lots of sherbet in them; Lucky Numbers; Liquorice root sticks, Nibbits.

Suedoku, you can buy Golden Fry onion gravy granules in Iceland frozen foods if that helps. Not powder but the granules may be a good substitute.

Cremola pudding fans - here is a recipe to make your own. It works!

Serves 3 - 4

Ingredients
2 heaped tablespoons of ground rice
1 rounded tablespoon of custard powder (not the instant - the Birds stuff that comes in a tin)
1 dessertspoon of sugar
half tsp of vanilla extract
1 pint (580ml) milk
butter or margarine and ground nutmeg to garnish.

Instructions
Heat the milk in a large saucepan, and mix the dry ingredients in an ovenproof bowl along with a little milk to make a paste of double-cream thickness. Stir in the vanilla extract.

When the milk has reached boiling point pour it slowly into the bowl, stirring gently until the sugar has dissolved, then pour the mixture back into the pan and return to the heat. Stir continuously, bringing the mix back to a gentle boil and simmer until it thickens like a custard.

Return the boiled mixture to the bowl and dot the surface with about 3 half teaspoon-sized knobs of butter or margarine, sprinkle nutmeg over the top. Bake in the bottom of a pre-heated oven at gas 5 (375 F or 190 C) for 45 minutes.

Serve hot or cold with or without extra milk to taste.

Lime Cordial Barrel sweets in Milk Tray

Gooseberry slice from M&S, not sure of its correct name but a long pastry desert which could be sliced up. Where have gooseberries gone anyway. Can only get them tinned. Trying to grow them in the garden without much success
