Yesterday I attended a meeting/interview for a voluntary job and I took the advice of several gransnetters to ask the interviewer, obviously a non binary person, what they would prefer to be called.
Them/they said their name changes every day according to the date, so yesterday I should call them Twenty Seven. My immediate thought was "Oh for goodness sake grow up and get over yourself" although thankfully I managed to keep my mouth shut! Twenty Seven went on to tell me they were having a problem recruiting volunteers shock. Unfortunately I decided I was going to be part of the problem, I just couldn't imagine working with them three days a week. I have no problem with people making whatever personal decisions they choose but since I don't always have the date at my fingertips I had no wish to offend them several times a month! Yes I could have checked every time before I went to work ... but really?

Could it be that volunteers tend to be retired. And older. And many of us have problems remembering things, names especially. I don't think I'd have got the job as I'd probably have given away my dismay and said I'll just call you Legion.

incidentally why LR10?

I am acquainted with a family who are all pronouns. Recently the 4 Yr old announced that they wanted to be known as she/her and no longer they/them.
It amused me and her DGM.
Maybe this is a good sign for a less nonsense future?

We had a student volunteer recently who changed her name a number of times...on the last occasion her supervisor didn't respond to her on a couple of occasions during the day.
When this was raised by the volunteer, she responded that she'd changed her name too, it was now "confused".
They reached an amicable solution at that point!

Actually, it's not a bad idea.

I remember getting fed up of answering endless questions from my curious DC (oh, what a bad mother!) and telling them I wasn't called Mummy any more and wouldn't be answering until they guessed my new name.
I hadn't actually decided on a new name.

I would be part of the problem too I'm afraid. I've no objection to anyone calling themself anything they choose (sometimes it's good for a laugh) but changing it everyday is a bit over the top.

Can't help but think this person is on a mission to make life as difficult as possible for themself and everyone around.

Had quite enough of that when my 5 year old daughter and her friend kept wanting to be called Disney character names but changed them every other day and had tantrums when we got it wrong. Fortunately that only last 3 or 4 months.

I would probably have told them, that if they want to use a different name on different days, that it would be a great help to me if they would wear a name-tag, prominently displayed on whatever they choose to call their chest or bosom!
