Too posh to wash?

Once, before the advent of support staff, nurses accepted that part of their duties included basic patient care; bed baths, bed pans, turning patients, helping them with food and drink. Now it seems the RCN think this is beneath their members.

Oh greatnan you don"t honestly think anyone PM"s nasty things about youSpeaking purely for myself I have more important things to do .

I catorgorically state here and now i have never PM"d ^ anything nasty about another poster^.

I like things to be out on an open forum .

Nonu Wed 24-Apr-13 18:17:21

One other point , you very often use the term "usual suspects" , who are these usual suspects ?

Stansgran Wed 24-Apr-13 18:20:37

I think being a grande horizontale is an opportunity I have sorrowfully missed in my life.better than a grande dame. I've come in half way and haven't read the whole post just when im having a sit down between the unpacking and the washing of holiday clothes. Orca are you a grandma or grandpa? I've been away so I apologise if it is obvious elsewhere.

Orca Wed 24-Apr-13 18:20:56

I actually do feel sorry that that remark has offended you. It may well be true that you don't see yourself in that light, and that others have been responsible for giving you a mantle that you have no desire to wear.
And yes, I do think woman's brain and men's brains operate differently, and I will not apologise for holding that view, but I celebrate the differences.

Orca Wed 24-Apr-13 18:26:10

Stansgran smile does it matter? I will tell you however, that I raised my three children single handed from the time the twins were three days old. What does that make me?

Orca Wed 24-Apr-13 18:28:34

Anyway I've had enough so off to walk down to the shore with Bear.

noodles Wed 24-Apr-13 18:30:59

If there are 'usual suspects', then who is Keyser Soze? hmm

Nonu Wed 24-Apr-13 18:32:02

Hey ORCA that is an interesting thing I also have three children , two of whom are twins .

My oldest DD was about 20 months when my twins were born .

Pretty hard work eh!

j08 Wed 24-Apr-13 18:37:16

And you've done it again Greatnan! hmm

Get down off your flipping high horse.

#ridiculous

j08 Wed 24-Apr-13 18:39:49

twinsister yes, that is the sort of thing I think nurses should learn to do first and foremost.

But after that, of course, it is a completely different job nowadays. More drugs/tests/machines etc etc to know about.

j08 Wed 24-Apr-13 18:41:14

I don't think nurses should go out in uniforms.

They don't in Holby.

Whoops! I've done it again Greatnan. #trivialised

Greatnan Wed 24-Apr-13 19:22:27

Jingle - I objected to Orca's insulting the intelligence of jess and nellie. Why does that put me in the wrong?
Nonu - don't you read posts? It was Orca who revealed that somebody had been talking about me in a pm to him.

Ana Wed 24-Apr-13 19:24:17

Him? Do you have inside knowledge, Greatnan? confused

j08 Wed 24-Apr-13 19:26:41

It's the way you express it Greatnan.

Greatnan Wed 24-Apr-13 19:28:42

Please do tell me how I should express things, jingle and I will try to comply.

Elegran Wed 24-Apr-13 19:39:15

Just picked up on Nonu saying above, "I like things to be out on the open forum" so what was the significance of the nods and winks and veiled asides about being amused, between you, Orca, and Noodles on another thread where you and Greatnan were in discussion?

Looked very like the result of some private communications to me.

Ella46 Wed 24-Apr-13 19:39:55

Greatnan could you please indicate which post of Orca's revealed nasty pms had been sent about you?
Thank you, I can't spot it.

Elegran Wed 24-Apr-13 19:42:36

Jo8 Given your proven ability to post rather impetuously sometimes, I don't think you should call any kettles black on how they express things.

Ana Wed 24-Apr-13 19:45:07

I think there have been quite enough kettle calling pot black posts already on this thread.

Elegran Wed 24-Apr-13 19:45:15

Ella46 You could take that meaning out of "or so 'some people' have told me." because I for one do not remember seeing that said in open forum.

Ana Wed 24-Apr-13 19:49:09

It does seem that certain posters can't believe anyone could possibly have a negative view of them without 'nasty pms' having been sent. As jingl has said - it's the way some points are made which puts others' backs up.

Ella46 Wed 24-Apr-13 19:55:59

Thanks Elegran but attributions seem to be important.

Nonu Wed 24-Apr-13 19:58:18

Elegran ,I stated that i have never pmd anything bad about anyone .

Vis a vis the winks sometimes things get so heavy one has to try and bring some light relief.

I go now as I have to prepare for my journey tommorrow and later to watch the bear prog.

Elegran Wed 24-Apr-13 19:58:25

The posters on here all have different personalities. They have different ways of expressing themselves. There are quite a lot of posts where I think the opinion could have been better put. There are some posts where I think the poster is a prat, or a troublemaker. I do not then criticise their personalities and accuse them of thinking they are a Grande dame, a universal expert, or a persecuted victim.

Greatnan Wed 24-Apr-13 20:00:20

I gather that you consider yourself something of a 'Grande Dame' of GN or so 'some people' have told me.

Unless Orca is in personal contact with the people who want to say things about me, he must have been told the above in a pm.
