? What is 'fasting spittle' ??
OK , I am amazed this thread is still running!
We have been to Felixstowe for the afternoon, very bracing and good !
I have decided to google Gold rings and styes , this is what I came up with.
" Electrons in gold jump from the ring to salt/water and other elements in the eye and change state of surface of the skin to another element that cures the stye "
Enjoy your evening , we are going to watch Sports Relief.
Flowerofthewest, fasting spittle is early morning saliva before you have eaten anything .Maybe "fasting spittle" is a Scottish expression.
This is where Nonu found that quote. www.abc.net.au/science/k2/stn/q&a/notes/070215-5.htm It is from an answer by a member of the public to a question.
I can't find any other authority for the statement and I don't understand it..
If there has been an experiment that proves it, I hope it can be repeated and a new antibiotic developed. Those in current use will become useless in time.
How long does Blipheritis last??
Hey Tab , wonder if you wish you had not started this , getting a wee bit complicated.
I do Know that the gold ring trick works for me !!
Nothing more to say really, it is getting tedious !
No don't regret starting this I got some good tips that I can use.
Having Bleparitis is horrible --I have had it for a good few days and was looking for information.
Nonu If it is boring you then do not contribute
I wish you well and hope sincerely that the condition goes very soon , it must be horrible TAB.
The traditional way is to use a cotton wool bud that has been dipped in diluted baby shampoo. Just add a few drops of baby shampoo to a small cup of warm water so that the ratio of water to shampoo is about 10:1. Squeeze out excess liquid from the cotton bud to prevent drips getting into your eyes, which may irritate. In particular, try to clean off any crusts at the base of the eyelids. After cleaning the eyelids with the cotton wool bud, wash off the shampoo from the eyelids, using a flannel or cloth.
Blepharitis is a recurring condition, sadly. My GP has decided against the antibiotics at the moment and suggested the cotton bud 'sweep', a hot spoon and hot flannel ideas. It is working. The redness has disappeared, the soreness gone and eyes feel a lot better. It did not get to the sticky, crusty stage luckily as I know when it is coming on. He said to keep up the cotton bud idea even if I have not got the inflammation. It works. He says dry sterile cotton buds. Working for me.
That really helps thank you so much--Can I get..sterile..cotton buds from the Chemist?
Mine are the ordinary cotton buds that I just dip in boiled water
thank you golden--can I ask, when you get it how long does it last
Yes, found mine in chemists and in local supermarket, they are labelled sterile. x
I just use the dry buds myself as they are sterile and this is what GP suggest. I tend to do this several times a week now and the condition seems to be less recurrent.
A few days TAB12 - not too long
thank you--had mine since Wednesday now a bit better today--I hate getting it--I worry that it is something serious.
May recur - just keep the occasional sweep up - it is keeping mine at bay. Good luck xxx
Hi
I don't care whether it is a natural remedy or not I'm desperate now
It's been almost 3 years now......gradually getting worse. I've been attending the eye department at the hospital all this time
I cant get a proper diagnosis....just "blepharitis but a lot more going on there" What sort of a diagnosis is that
It started with excessive tears, to the extent where people stopped me and asked what was wrong because they thought I was crying??? Now they are red, inflamed, {eyelids and underneath} eyes stinging, skin around the eyes red, also very crusty. I do the wash routine at least twice a day. Sorry for the ramble but I have another appointment with the hospital on Wednesday and I'm fed up.....any suggestions as to what I can do or what I should ask him {apart from "give me a diagnosis please"} [smile

I have hesitated to put this one here, I don't even know if it's still available at the chemist, but my ex-MiL swore by boracic acid powder. You just put a pinch in an egg cup of boiling water and let it cool, before holding it with your eye in it and blinking lots of times. It works. I get to get it by telling the chemist that I wanted it to clean my pony's hooves with it, as she didn't think they would let me use it if they thought it was for eyes. She said everyone used to use it, for blepharitis and conjunctivitis.
Mine improved when l took vit A supplement.
Hi, Mine is gradually getting better..,,,,,I know its a chronic condition so will be there most of my life but if I can keep it at bay for a while I'm happy.
I tried the bathing, massaging, cleaning with a cotton bud etc and nothing helped until I was told to try Wet ones ...the blue original ones {In the uK anyway} they have an ingredient ....cant remember what off hand. I've been using those and it is much better.

Hi there,
Over last 5 years I have been suffering with Blepharitis. I had tried different eye drops my GP has suggested. After different treatments my GP had come to a conclusion & even myself that my condition is not due to any bacterial or viral infection to eyes but it is do with ALLERGIES.
I am an Indian & an UK resident as well. I have observed that during the summer season in UK and also during my holidays in India my eyes are in very bad state swollen, itchy, greasy water running on my eyes blurring the vision and I narrowly missed an accident while driving because of this.
I have done all the ‘routine’ things done to reduce the inflammation like daily eye care of washing with shampoo etc. but nothing worked as there is no particular treatment anywhere for Blepharitis.
I looked for old Indian 'Ayurveda’ guidance for treatment to eye allergies. The first thing I came across is to change diet. To follow it I did the following:
1)Reduce/avoid Alcohol and Caffeine intake
2)Reduce ‘added’ sugar foods (Cakes, pastries, chocolates etc.)
3)Avoid all the dairy products (Milk, yoghurt, cheese, butter etc.)
4)Avoid bananas
5)Increase your daily water intake
6)Eat more vegetables. Especially dark green and leafy vegetables.
7)Include Onions, garlic, ginger in your diet
After following the above diet I should say that my eyes are back to normal as they were 6 years back. It has been three months now and I don’t see any symptoms. I am yet to use Sodium Chromoglicate 2% prescribed by my GP for eye allegies.
Hope this solution works for you guys. I am going for a holiday to India now and need to see how my eyes will behave!
That's interesting Naveen. I have a book called Dr Ali's Nutrician bible which is based on Ayurvedic remedies; I followed it religiously when I had an ongoing stomach problem and it worked. Of course, being a exclusion diet it takes time to take effect but it's worth it. Alas, after a while I tend to slip back into bad habits [eating bread; not drinking enough water etc]
. And I keep meaning to include more turmeric in my diet but then forget to. Hope your blepharitis continues to improve
