I wouldn't take anything if I was just going to DDs - there's always an all-night chemist open somewhere, if you're desperate.

Always have ibuprofen and a spray for sore eyes in my handbag anyway.

Am I the only person who was treated with golden eye ointment by a vet when I was a child? He seemed to find my stye more worrying than whatever was wrong with the cat

Now I come to think of it my children never had styes, although I had dozens as a child. DD did get impetigo once but didn't manage to pass it on to the rest of us.

I pack Paracetamol and Ibuprofen tablets, and a supply of Rennies. Fortunately, as yet, I don't have any chronic complaints that need regular medication.

I abused my stomach the same way as everyone else, Ana..... saturated fats, fizzy drinks (to dilute the gin), preservatives ( bacon, salami, sausages).It's a wonder I've got to the age I am. Much more sensible now... well on weekdays anyway

Golden eye ointment?? I take imodium, Rennies, paracetamol, Aciclovir and plasters. Covers most eventualities.

Can you still buy kaolin and morphine? i seemed to get through gallons of it 40 years ago with a not-so-DD who was mistress of the art of projectile vomiting ! I though it had been removed from sale a few years ago when the professionals got twitchy about drug abuse. Along with yelllow eye cream (was that what it was called??) for styes. Come to think of it who gets styes these days..... or impetigo?

I must say ....re your list Nankate I'm never further than an arm's length from a sachet of Gaviscon . That's what you get when you abuse your stomach in your thirties and forties

When I go away I usually take my meds of course but then Imodium just in case , paracetamol, and travel sickness pills in case I need to get on a boat . Thats it I think, anything else I might need I just buy it as necessary.
