Feels like I'm sinking into a spell of depression. Struggling to find enthusiasm for anything atm. Ready for bed already.
Combination of feeling less than fit, dark nights and crap weather.

Mishap Is there something you can sleep on to alleviate the pressure on your bum? Oh, I've just seen that pompa suggested something. But surely there is a commercial product that prevents pressure sores - would the nurse at your GP surgery be able to advise?

What a shame you are going to miss the evening out that you'd been looking forward to. I do hope you soon feel better and start to make a steady recovery.

I have a hip bursitis that is painful to lay on, I got a 50mm memory foam mattress topper that has helped enormously until they can come up with a remedy. This may help your bed sores.
As Eloethan says, there are quite a few products available to help you to sleep sitting up without sliding down.

Here is just one company that has such aids (there are many more)

Oh, what a shame , just when you seemed to be improving. Today is just one day, tomorrow will hopefully be better. Keep posting.

Oh mishap I am so sorry you are having even more to deal with. How much can one person take?

If only those of us who are former nurses could descend on you and give you some TLC and first class care. We used a mix of olive oil and meths to rub into pressure points, to stop the skin drying out which leads to pressure sores, something that has probably changed now but rubbing some olive oil into those areas would keep your skin moist.

The memory foam mattress topper pompa has recommended is an excellent idea for comfort and avoiding pressure sores. Another suggestion is a medical sheepskin mat which would also help against pressure sores and lastly, a foam heel support which can be bought in Boots.

I am sending you the strongest healing vibes and sincerely hope you have a better day flowers

I've nothing to add to the posts above but I hope anyone suffering feels better soon. flowers

Feeling miserable and down this morning, hate these grey skies and the doom and gloom of the way this country is strangling itself in stress, over work, traffic congestion, loneliness, whatever and I came and had a peep at this thread and I feel upset on behalf of those of you who are suffering in various ways, looks like especially mishap and pompa, sorry if I have missed others.

So I've got myself by the scruff of the neck and said 'it could be a lot worse so stop moaning'. Instead I want to say thanks to everyone who takes the time to post and to create a lively online community and I can't offer anything specific to the problems people have at the moment but I do want to send hugs and healing for what that's worth.

Hope things improve for you soon. Having just looked it up, I understand this { } is the smiley or emoticon for hug, so here's one of those { } smile

Anniezzz09. These dark grey days depress most people. However, it will only be another 6 weeks or so until we see the first snowdrops and can look forward to spring. If you have a garden, now is the time to start planning for next year.
Mishap is still poorly, but I'm sure she will improve as her hip heals. All we can do is support her with positive chat.
I am fine now, all my problems are on the mend, still grumpy, but I do have a reputation to live up to ! grin (If I was too cheerful, Mrs. P would be suspicious that I was up to no good)

anniezzz09 Mon 01-Dec-14 11:36:02

Good for you pompa. I don't know about snowdrops, my winter jasmine is flowering and some of the garden shrubs are growing away! Only 20 days to the longest day, always a moment of relief for me! wink

pompa Mon 01-Dec-14 13:20:32

Longest day sad I will be three score and ten on that day

Ana Mon 01-Dec-14 13:29:25

Don't you both mean the shortest day? [confused[

Ana Mon 01-Dec-14 13:29:52

So confused I got the emoticon wrong!

pompa Mon 01-Dec-14 13:35:49

confused what do you expect at 70.

Ana Mon 01-Dec-14 13:40:16

You're still only 69 Pompa! No excuses!

granjura Mon 01-Dec-14 18:01:32

Depression - sadly- does not need excuses sad

Ana Mon 01-Dec-14 18:13:39

granjura, we weren't actually talking about depression then - it was a light interlude. You are right, of course, though.

pompa Mon 01-Dec-14 18:31:18

Granjura, don't worry I was quite aware that it was friendly banter, if you get to know me better, you will see that I deserve all I get. A bit of light hearted banter cheers me up no end, as it does others I hope. smile

kittylester Mon 01-Dec-14 18:34:52

It's good to see the banter pompa. smile

How are you doing Mishap?

granjura Mon 01-Dec-14 18:36:52

Great to hear it - hope you feel better soon.

Mishap Mon 01-Dec-14 20:25:06

Yesterday was a very bad day for me - they seem to pop up from nowhere. Your kind messages and support were much appreciated.

I think I set myself too high a goal - the event at the pub had been organised by a friend and a lot was hanging on it for her. When I started to feel a bit low, I got very worried that I would burst into tears and spoil her event. I had been very weepy all day and just could not trust myself to be OK. But I had set it as a target and it made me even more depressed when I "failed."

I have sent off for some things to help prevent pressure sores - to go on heels and also under my bum. Thank you for your links and suggestions. I was so uncomfortable last night that I did not get to sleep till 3.30am. I will try some different ideas tonight and hope that things might go a bit better.

I am a bit better today and have to hang on to the fact that there are good days. I have done some quilting and had a chat with some friends and family. It is such a slow job and such a difficult thing to deal with.

Crafting Mon 01-Dec-14 21:07:48

Mishap don't be so hard on yourself. Things will get better, just keep remembering that. This gloomy Esther doesn't help. Hope you get a better night tonight. ((Huggs))

Crafting Mon 01-Dec-14 21:10:41

Gloomy Esther!!! Where did that come from? I meant gloomy weather. Don't know anyone called Esther gloomy or not grin

NfkDumpling Mon 01-Dec-14 21:58:03

I'm glad you've had a better day today Mishap. Coconut oil is also a very good moisturiser and skin softener and smells rather nice too. Perhaps you could enlist your nearest and dearest to gently massage your more inaccessible sore pressure points? (I mean like your shoulders!) It may help you relax and sleep better too. smile

Mishap Mon 01-Dec-14 22:00:01

My OH has already offered to rub the sore bits with cream - I will not say whether the offer was accepted!

NfkDumpling Mon 01-Dec-14 22:02:56
