Sorry whitewave I thought about not mentioning it but my Consultant asks me every time I see her about mouth ulcers. I'm glad they have gone though. Best wishes

tee thanks for that - that is something I may explore if they come back, but at the moment - utter relief!

I think supplements are more necessary as we get older and eat less so that even with a perfect diet consuming all the vitamins etc that we need in our ordinary meals is not possible.

I don't want to be alarmist but recurrent mouth ulcers are a significant symptom in Lupus - worth getting a test? I wasn't diagnosed for years and now have a lot of damaged from this untreated condition. A simple blood test at the GPs.

Try using Kingfisher toothpaste too whitewave - it's available from health food shops! Dh used to be plagued by ulcers but has had very few since using the toothpast.

DD1 had them so badly that the only thing that works for her is a steroid spray prescribed by her dentist on DH's recommendation!

Brilliant result, whitewave. Supplements shouldn't be necessary but our diets are not always perfect, even fruit & veg don't contain all the nutrients that they used to in past years and what we do eat may not be properly utilised in our digestive systems.
Congrats on getting it sorted! [thumb up]

I have read and believed that supplements are not necessary and provide little of value to health. However, for years (at least 20) I have suffered from the most awful mouth ulcers and when I get them I also feel slightly flue-y as well. In order to get rid of them I needed to rest and not overdo it.

At the beginning of the year I read somewhere that zinc and b12 were good for ulcers, as I was suffering really badly at the time I thought "give it a go" I went on line and as it happened it was a job lot offer so enough to last 3-4 months if I remember correctly which meant f course that I took a sustained amount. In the past I would perhaps done a month with no success and given it up.

Well folks it may be absolute coincidence but IT WORKED!! What a relief, I do still get small ones - more normal I guess but the awful holes and feeling dreadful has gone so I so hope that is what has done it.
