And perhaps try the glaucomasine again. GNs can only give their opinions and the majority vote may not be the right one for you.
Shingles and pneumococcal vaccines side effects
I've started a keep fit regime this year. Not a new year resolution but I figure I spend so much time sat on my bum I ought to get moving a bit before I turn to stone.
So I started a couple of weeks ago with Leslie Sansone Walk 2 miles. Harder than it sounds but a nice feeling at the end even though I'm all sweaty which I still can't accept as being OK. This week I decided to start upper body and abs work too. With C's help I found what looked like a nice simple starter video on YouTube...10 mins arms and upper body and 5 mins abs. The upper body stuff wasn't too bad. Arms a bit achey but that's to be expected. But OMG the 'easy' abs exercises nearly killed me. There was one I just couldn't do cos my arms, legs and stomach just refused point blank to take part
Five minutes doesn't sound long and tbh it isn't but when I'd finished I couldn't move for the next ten minutes. My muscles just refused. My brain said, "Come on. Let's get off the floor," and my body said, "Sod off!"
And perhaps try the glaucomasine again. GNs can only give their opinions and the majority vote may not be the right one for you.
Ibuprofen would be better for the inflammation than paracetamol.
Thanks. GP tends to be last resort for me and most things do go away by themselves if you wait.
Was wondering if it's a flare up of the arthritis I used to have years ago before I took glaucosamine. I stopped taking it about three months ago as so many in GN were saying it was a waste of money. I took a paracetamol earlier and that certainly eased it.
But definately GP if no improvement. No point in asking for advice if you don't take it!
Weekend=call surgery and get on call GP. Sounds like possibly infection? Certainly shouldn't leave it much longer if getting worse Anya.....
Def GP.
GP ?
I'm grounded at the moment with pain in my ankle somewhere near the inside ankle bone. It's hot to touch and very slightly swollen. Been like this since last weekend and gets worse as the day progresses, by last night I could barely walk at all. Trying the RICE treatment but can't see any difference after 6 days.
Any suggestions?
I concluded some time ago that keeping fit is all in the mind, and do you know, it doesn't hurt at all!
And standing up more than sitting; I spend so much time on the pooter I'm planning on puting it somewhere higher up so I stand next to it [which is what I did when I was working]. I've realised that, since I've retired I spend an awful lot of the day sitting down.
Even walking at a leisurely pace burns over 240 calories an hour so keep going and don't give up, you will get fitter by the day and by the week. Why not try your local Walking For Health Group - its free with trained leaders who will take care of you - your local GP surgery will probably have a leaflet or poster about them? Walks start at a very gentle pace over short distances and then build up to two, three and four miles at a faster pace. It isn't competitive.
You will get to meet a new social circle of friends and to explore byways and interesting places in your local area you never knew existed. I really hate exercise but I find walking is both good for the body and good for the soul and in an average week I now burn off between 1,000 and 4,000 calories a week while really enjoying myself gossiping to my mates, looking at lovely scenery or learning about fascinating urban places.
Once you get fitter your local Ramblers group will take you on guided walks from easy paced five milers to exhilarating day and half day walks in areas of outstanding natural beauty, along local canals and exploring historic places; something different each week and an even wider social circle of friends and events to join in with. In my group there are people in their 80s who can give people generations younger a run for their money, literally. An interesting walk is much more fun than hurting yourself at the gym, and also while you are out for the day with a packed lunch your calorie intake will be rationed to what you take with you, no temptations to give in to!
This must be so hard for you vampire and it is very hard to understand for anyone who has never suffered so badly from it. I feel like that about depression - I really had no idea how bad it can be till it hit me, so I think that any "helpful" suggestions that I might have made in the past were well meant but possibly off the mark. So, is we do not get it quite right, please forgive us.
I am assuming that you have sought help with "desensitisation"/CBT/drugs and other techniques. It would be so lovely if you were able to get a bit of progress to encourage you.
It is good that you are able to get out with your OH, who sounds as though he is very understanding.
Good luck with it all.
Like a Rumsfeld and Coke perhaps?
It was all to do with Donald Rumsfeld having links with Coke etc
Aaaagh we use sweetener. What are we in danger of? I'm changing to a sugar which is horribly expensive but supposedly good for the teeth. I used to love Diet Coke and rum years ago. It's always good to put a coin in a bowl of coca cola and watch the result.
Aspartame is addictive. It seems it got approval as a food additive by 'unusual' means. Apparently there was a bit of a scandal involved with accusations of palms being greased. I don't know how true that is but I wouldn't be surprised.
I think it must be addictive in some way. I know one person that would only drink diet coke and someone else that would only drink carbonated water. I know non diet coke would put weight on but wonder if it would be better to drink that for a while to go cold turkey with the aspartamine. Aspartamine is a laxative isn't it, as well.
Why would anybody want to drink diet coke, or any fizzy drink in a regular basis anyway? Is it an addiction? There's so many other things to drink if you're thirsty.
KatyK you are so right...people need to find a reason to change.
You don't have to get sweaty to exercise and you should start gently and work up gradually. Exercise might make you ache but it shouldn't hurt!
Vampirequeen, believe me I know where you're coming from, I really do. I was given a piece of advice in past dark times which has stuck with me and that was "you can do anything you want to do." You know what? It works.
First find your reason to change.....
Have to agree with Faye about that. Aspartamine is bad and coke is bad. Put the two together and it's a lethal cocktail I'm afraid. Coke started of as a toilet cleaner, didn't it? And aspartamine should have been banned but sneaked through the net somehow [backhanders?]. It really messes with your liver
I'm on 60mg of citalopram. It's the highest dose.
I have considered that the aspartame is making it worse. I've tried so many times to give it up but always failed so this time I'm cutting back. Interspersing diet coke with water. It's not perfect but it reduces the amount of diet coke I drink.
vq does it connect for you that it's possibly your addiction to apartame that is causing your panic attacks, memory loss and agoraphobia?
I first read about the dangers of aspartame twenty years ago, then more recently someone I know was addicted to diet coke. I am amazed that this drug is allowed on the market!
Vampire you seem to be making a really good effort to get on with your life, good luck
Damn. Could you up the dose?
I take citalopram.
