Had a strange experience when l woke this morning. I haven't been sleeping well for some time, l go to sleep for about a couple of hours, then wake for a while, then repeat. Anyway this morning woke just before five with the silver shimmering l used to get with migraines as a side effect of the pill. Haven't had it for years. Got up and took some painkillers and sat up in bed till the headache went. Anyone else had this please

DH has suffered migraines for many years - he was admitted to GOS as a child with what they called stomach migraine (this is over 60 years ago) and went on to crippling regular migraines like his mother and brother who still have them much more severely than he does. What we found that apart from the classic triggers of cheese and chocolate that oranges which he craved for a couple of days before the onset and other citrus fruits were not the cause but exacerbated the problem immensely. For other health reasons we decided to forgo all processed foods and he began to get much much better. His triggers now are tiredness, pollution and tension we treat any attacks with plain water to drink and regular paracetomol (all other drugs set up violent bouts of vomiting) and go to bed. When he can tolerate food its small amounts of pitta or flat bread. He wears photochromatic spectacles all the time as he cant bear strong light and our house has soft lighting - overhead lights are never put on.

The worst migraine I ever had followed drinking copious amounts of orange juice the night before. Everyone else was drinking alcohol [it was New Year] but I decided to stick to juice sad.
