People who are offered private ops under the NHS often feel so grateful- nice room, large telly and good food- but there can be a huge trad-off in safety.

Reading this I'm sad for those of you still having serious pain and complications post-operatively.
Perhaps there should be some kind of star ratings table/patient feedback for surgeons rather than a GP's recommendation?
I was extremely lucky with the orthpod who operated on my very badly damaged leg/ankle - he did say it was the worse he'd ever seen and made no promises for the prognosis. It's pretty good all things considered.
My sister did something similar six months later, went to a different hospital and has had many problems since.
The disappointment for some of you must be overwhelming, even more so if you've paid......
In an emergency situation you don't have any choice so it's pot luck I suppose sad
