I often get griping type stomach pains (all regularly checked out by my doctor and specialist). This morning after breakfast I felt the familiar stirrings and took some Colpermine tablets that usually work well for me. Half an hour later things had not improved so I moved to Plan B a dose of kaolin and morphine.

I mixed two teaspoons of said liquid with water and took a few gulps.confused It tasted odd, almost like calamine lotion.

shock It was calamine lotion ! Fortunately I had not drunk the thick sediment at the bottom of the glass. I immediately drank as much water as I could to dilute my mistake. Checked the bottle that said 'for external use only'. The bottles are very similar.

Fortunately it didn't recommend a visit to the Doc.

Have any of you had near misses like this ?

I feel for you Merlot having had a similar incident with chillies that ended up with Mrs. P in hysterics and me sitting with my bits in a bowl of iced water. I now wear gloves when preparing chillies.

AshTree: I have made your mistake in reverse - sprayed deodorant all over my hair instead of hairspray. I was looking in the mirror as I did it, and saw my hair turning a greyish colour before my eyes!

Pompa: I've almost choked on my coffee, reading your post grin

Pompa, I'm baffled at how your chillified hands affected your, er, "bits" ?

pompa Fri 29-May-15 13:37:53

I was preparing a lot of hot chillies for pickling (we had a bumper crop that year), washed my hands and went to the toilet - washing hands is not enough ! - tried a shower, but that just spread the pain further.

Oh I see!! Sounds horrific. Hope you enjoyed the chillies!

It cheered up Mrs. P no end.

I've done a few daft things and not now I'm in my old lady life. I went to work wearing my slippers. I have often worn odd shoes and socks. I was given a gift of odd socks one Xmas. I spent an evening at a party chatting happily away to someone addressing them by the wrong name. Why didn't they correct me, I always do. I could go on but I can't remember what I was saying.

A few weeks ago whilst rushing round getting jobs done and eating my breakfast on the go I poured orange juice in to the fabric conditioner drawer ! Twice I've tried to get into somebody else's car. Today I couldn't remember where in the car park I had park the car. I've also done the hair spray + deodorant thing. And then there was time I made a cup of coffee using gravy granules yuk! Senior moments or just dippy??

Tonight I found myself trying to load dirty cutlery into the cupboard under the sink instead of the dishwasher confused

As I spend a good deal of time in Europe I have 2 cars, one left hand and the other right hand drive, I frequently get into the wrong side to find no stirring wheel in front of me. I cover up by sitting there for a while as if I am waiting for someone or search in the dashboard pocket and then casually get out and go round the other side.

Confused fabric conditioner with similar shaped and sized bottle with a mild ecological liquid I normally use (well diluted) to wash floors. Wondered why my washing wasn't very soft but smelled slightly of disinfectant ...

I made the darling GS his porridge and put a hand in the cupboard to get the squeezy honey out and give the porridge his initial on top. It came out red. Yes squeezy bottle of ketchup. My excuse was no glasses.

Made a pasta dish last week. Added extra ingredients by a third as son was there, but ended up with multiplying the linguini by 6!!!!!! We had it for lunch next day....not so good cold.

I put a teaspoon of coffee into the sugar bowl once, and on another occasion I poured the kettle into the coffee jar.

Since I've started occasionally using a shopping trolley for heavy/bulky local shopping I've kept it parked in the hall. It seemed a good idea to tidy various shopping bags, backpacks into it. I had twice been to the shops with all that half filling the trolley. Last week I flipped open the lid at the checkout to put my shopping in and found I'd also tidied a large football into the trolley! Definite Senior Moment there I think!

Superglue and lacri lube eye ointment are very similar in shape size and consistency; given that you tend to put the lacri lube in your eye last thing at night [or even during the night if your eyes are a bit sore]I can see how someone might use superglue if they've been repairing something at then left the tube lying around. I often leave things lying around, thinking to myself 'I really don't think I should leave that there'.

I did the peach air freshener instead of deodorant, very peachy armpits!

My mum once ran for the bus in town when we had took the car.

Another time we took her out for lunch when she looked at the restaurant and she proclaimed "they have 241 drinks in here!" . When I stopped laughing, I told it it was 2-4-1.

My dad, the other day walked all the way, with his stick to the Co-op to get his "telly book" and found when he got back he had forgot it. He had to take a break to get his breath back and then go back later, incognito. grin

I was reading a post last night on Amazon about Pinky and Perky Christmas Album and how this poster wished they would get some copies in as she could educate her son on music of her childhood and how it would make her day to hear the album again and I sat there agreeing with everything this poster said . . until I read the name of the poster and found out it was me!
