Is the typical following menopause?

is it worth getting a reduction?

harrigran Sat 13-Jun-15 19:43:59

No better to have a lobotomy.

indigoteeshirt2 Sat 13-Jun-15 19:48:35

helpful responses please

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 13-Jun-15 19:51:32

A lot of us get fatter after the menopause. A diet perhaps?

indigoteeshirt2 Sat 13-Jun-15 19:54:02

bmi less than 25. bra size 34k. was 34f before children. same size now as when breastfeeding

Ana Sat 13-Jun-15 19:56:19

Speak to your GP.

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 13-Jun-15 19:59:27

Or go ahead and have a reduction. Your tits. No one else's. [shrug]

hildajenniJ Sat 13-Jun-15 19:59:29

Used to be 34B. Now I'm 36C. I know why my bust is bigger, it is in proportion to the rest of me!grin. It's because I have put on two stones in weight since I got married.

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 13-Jun-15 20:04:56

Ditto to that Hilda. hmm

Ana Sat 13-Jun-15 20:07:26

Perhaps divorce is the answer, then? grin

loopylou Sat 13-Jun-15 20:08:05

confused
This thread is an example of the art of speaking the b..... obvious isn't it?

Sorry if that's rude but honestly OP!

shysal Sat 13-Jun-15 20:08:58

Breast reduction surgery is far more major than that for implants. You would have to take advice and think very carefully!

loopylou Sat 13-Jun-15 20:14:26

That's an extreme method for losing weight!

janeainsworth Sat 13-Jun-15 20:27:46

Yes, I've gone from 36A to 36C, without gaining weight anywhere else.
34K sounds as though it would be very uncomfortable particularly if you do any kind of sport, and could put strain on your back.
I'd ask your GP for advice and possibly a referral.

whitewave Sat 13-Jun-15 20:32:29

Blimey I could think of a lot worse things to worry about!

indigoteeshirt2 Sat 13-Jun-15 20:43:13

Thank you jane. 34k is VERY uncomfortable indeed. The weight is causing a great deal of pain for which I now need medication to manage.

I just wanted to know if the increase is typical.

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 13-Jun-15 20:56:58

A good support bra must be essential.

Ana Sat 13-Jun-15 20:58:11

No, it isn't. If it was, all post-menopausal women would have huge bosoms. Some do, most don't, but do consult your GP.

indigoteeshirt2 Sat 13-Jun-15 21:00:27

Good point ana. thanks

whitewave Sat 13-Jun-15 21:17:30

Oh you didn't explain in your original OP that you were experiencing pain. Yes as anasays certainly see your GP.

indigoteeshirt2 Sat 13-Jun-15 21:33:52

Thanks white wave. only know what needs to be said when thread gets going.

so yes have tried everything before reduction is a serious consideration - hence this thread

Grannyknot Sat 13-Jun-15 21:43:28

indigo I always had smallish boobs but since I've got older (and yes, put on weight) they've become decidedly more "middle-aged and musky". So much so that I have to wear a "good bra" now instead of the teenage design ones I used to get able to get away with. I don't really like it, but it doesn't cause me any problems.

On the other hand, an acquaintance had breast enhancement options at 63! She was completely flat chested all her life and said she wanted to have boobs.

If you are experiencing pain, you should see a doc. There was a previous thread about this subject, and one of the gransnetters was having a reduction. I'll see whether I can find it.

Grannyknot Sat 13-Jun-15 21:44:16

That should be "mumsy" not musky!!

Grannyknot Sat 13-Jun-15 21:45:42

And not options either, should be "breast enhancement operation". I really must preview.

janeainsworth Sat 13-Jun-15 21:48:25

Don't worry about the typos GK.
My phone seems to think I'm writing in German today.
