It's not typical of the menopause but it does happen.

A friend's breasts became very large, out of proportion to the rest of her body - she had reduction surgery and is very happy with the result.

I think the OP was genuine.

Oh, I see whitewave. But as the OP's post was about breast reduction, I was assuming you meant cup size not girth size when you said no one had boobs as big as yours!

I had no breasts to speak of in my skinny youth but a couple of stones weight means I now wear a decent bra. A pal had an NHS breast reduction in her 40's for the same reasons given by the OP, yes go and see your gp

No I measure myself and buy from M&S - not so good or David Nieper - OK. Often thought that I would like to go somewhere really good to be fitted.

Did you go to a High street store to be fitted whitewave?

Like ll, I get told different sizes. So end up choosing my own.

Definitely a properly fitted bra goes a long way towards making you feel comfortable (and I don't think some department stores are the best bet)

I went from a 38FF in one to a 36E in the next door store, within the space of 30 minutes, both for the same brand of bra.

I went to a specialist bra fitter and she said I should be wearing 36D, same brand and style

I gave up and came home!

I don't think the NHS would cough up for a reduction. They would consider it cosmetic these days.how Imwould love to have small breasts. I have even taken to wearing a bra in bed as its so uncomfortable not to.

A well fitted bra can definitely help the distribution of weight with large boobs. I am a 36hh, All breast flesh needs to be pulled forward and contained within the cup. No spillage under the arm or out of the cup. The band needs to fit well around the back and never ride up as it's the band that takes the weight. To be properly fitted is a blessing and not all fitters are good, especially M & S who always try to fit me in a 38 or 40 band.

My properly fitted 36 band always feels tightish for the first couple of wearings...on the loosest hooks. After a couple of weeks I'm using the middle or tightest hooks and the well fitted bra is really doing its job.

If straps slip, it usually means the band size is too big.

I have always hankered for a breast reduction by means of a magic wand. Not so much...now that I have at last found what works for me.

I think if if very big boobs are causing pain you could at one time get the size reduced on the NHS. I understand it can be very uncomfortable.

I would also suggest you speak to your GP.

Reduction scars are very unsightly. Look online of before and after pics and that should change your mind.

I have got a couple of sports bras somewhere.
But they felt uncomfortable. I cant remember where they transferred weight to. I think I will find them and try them again, and see how I get on. Perhaps I should be alternating between normal bras and sports bras.

BT Gildas, the measurements circa 1950 is still sizing for an 'h cup so perhaps sizing not so different

Re sports bras ... The straps are further in towards your neck and don't rest on a particular part closer to your shoulder( at least those with a 'racer back'. It does actually feel different ( I had a shoulder / upper arm problem), apart from straps not slipping off.
