Seriously, try to get nourishment into you. Soft boiled eggs (if you usually like them) porridge - warming and comforting. Just rest, keep warm, and eat.

There's a lurgy doing the rounds here. The symptoms sound the same as you describe - hacking cough, sore throat and ears, hanging on for days, weeks. I haven't succumbed yet but am wondering if that's because I had a flu jab. I live in hope I'll avoid it. It sounds horrendous loopylou and I for one, wish you a speedy recovery

Oh poor you, it sounds dreadful . Sorry I can't advise on the duration of this horrid sounding flu bug as none of my family have had this (she says, touching every bit of wood within reach ).
I do hope you're feeling better very quickly

Strange lurgies about. I was completely poleaxed for 24 hrs on Friday. It was like 'flu with nausea. I drifted in and out of sleep all day and slept all night.

Woke up fine on Saturday! Hope it doesn't spread.

Ouch loopylou when he undertook to endow you with "all his worldly goods" he wan't meant to include that!
Deepest sympathy and very best wishes that you feel better very soon. Sounds as if you might have been a bit run down though, I don't suppose a Caribbean Cruise is on the cards? No? Well At the very least some lovely flowers, a bottle of tonic and maybe a weekend by the sea when you feel up to it.
In the meantime, a cleaner, ironing service, and an Internet shop. And stay in bed

Have you had the flu jab? (getting worried now, I haven't)

There are some lurgies going around here; chest infections in people who never normally get them, tonsillitis (requiring hospitalisation!) etc etc

loopy can't add to what others have said. Do get well soon, but you must feel like poo at the moment.

Loopy, I have had similar lurgie for past nine days.Have to sleep upright in a chair and feel and look like death warmed up! Finally gave in and saw GP today and have a weeks worth of antibiotics to take.DH now has it and has taken to his bed! DH had a flu jab two weeks ago, so this is not flu but something similar along with the hacking cough, sore throat and infected sinuses. Lovely!

Didn't have flu jab (not old enough for freebie) but was booked to have one at Boots.

I can't taste anything at all..... and eating makes me feel sick so surviving on diet coke, water and lemon with honey.

whitewave I read your post very quickly and thought you were inferring loopy must feel like a poo at the moment, and had to scan OP to see if constipation was part of the problem too - time for a lay down methinks

I used to get so many colds and virus that we decided to keep away from crowded areas as far as possible ,particularly in the winter, I have the shopping delivered etc. and it definately works. Saying that my hygenist had the most terrible something today I shall not be happy if I catch it.

Loopy.....Sorry to hear you are ill, especially as I have had same thing for a week minus the ear bursts and blood blisters. The cough is grim keeping me awake all night. Somehow a relief to know it's going round. Take care. Doing inhalations which I loath.

Maybe I spoke too soon - I've just started the tickly, sore throat coughing..

So sorry to hear of you having the dreaded lurgy Loopylou.

Can I suggest ginger ale or ginger beer and ginger nut biscuits to alleviate the sickness. It definitely works for me.

Plenty of liquids, warm hottie and tlc from DH.
