hairy bits !

Running alongside the discussion on how to wash the 'down below' bits and what to call them I must ask what do people think about hairy underarms. I shave regularly as I swim and most people I know shave (females).
The other week I was swimming with a friend and she raised her arms and they were hairy, she had not shaved, I felt disgusted and embarrassed. My elderly mother has huge amounts of hair under her arms and will not shave no matter what. Is it more hygienic to shave, I think so because deodorant will not work so well on hair.
I have heard that some cultures like hairy underarms (shudder) and its part of their culture. What do gnetters do?.

Hello Wot and Jinglebellfrocks - what I mean is, well one can be more direct with one's sister if there is a disagreement, and I do get on with my sister..................................most of the time.

Hey, JInglebellfrocks, what size are you, can I have your throwouts please?

tigger Tue 02-Feb-16 21:09:31

By the way Wot - who's a cheeky cow?

WilmaKnickersfit Tue 02-Feb-16 21:19:33

patriciageegee I think that was a bit off tbh. Maybe they were trying to make you feel relaxed, but it's not exactly the ideal way to go.

Love the story of the Japanese lady with her knickers on her head! grin

The nurse who was giving Patricia a colonoscopy. Who/what did you think I was referring to?

Mamar2 Tue 02-Feb-16 21:22:57

Thanks for your responses to my post everyone. I'm a genuine 100% grandma & was concerned that you'd think otherwise. patriciageegee, I hope I don't get a nurse like that as I'm a bit shy where my ageing body's concerned. Not that I'm a prude, just shy.

Dunno Wot

Like anything it is culturally based. Western culture prefers women with out excess body hair and we too are accultured to prefer it.

Or let us be honest it really depends on how hirsute you are and how dark and coarse your hair is. If your body hair is light and downy, it isn't really a problem. If your hair is thick and dark and grows luxuriantly where ever it appears, then you shave.

On subject of hair thining or disappearing in certain places, there was no mention of this when I was reading up on the menapause some years ago! I discovered it when my mum had a vulvectomey and I had to change her dressings when she came home from hospital, as there was no district nurse available. In my innocence I assumed they had shaved off all the hair down there for the op!

This has been most enlightening! Now what about these vajazzles I keep hearing about? I'm not sure what they are. hmm

WilmaKnickersfit Wed 03-Feb-16 01:29:48

Vajazzles are where you have sparkly crystals stuck on the bare bit when you have had all the hair removed. The crystals are arranged in a design like a heart or something. If you Google vajazzle you'll see some photos (not rude)! grin

This website is all about vajazzles

Thanks for the info! OMG - maybe I should get one of those. Or maybe not. confused

WilmaKnickersfit Wed 03-Feb-16 10:27:42

My knickers would catch on it! grin

The one thing that no one on here has admitted to is having grey/white pubes. Is that part of the ageing process, I am so embarrassed at having this I would never be in a relationship again. My hair on my head is brown with grey bits but no white yet. Im so distressed by this is this normal

wot Sun 07-Feb-16 00:27:00

Yes, rest assured. My head hair was black turned white and same "down below" it is embarrassing.

WilmaKnickersfit Sun 07-Feb-16 00:48:54

It's definitely normal. In fact, men worry about finding their first grey pube the same way women do about finding their first grey hair on their heads. I hope this will help you stop feeling distressed ethel flowers

M0nica Sun 07-Feb-16 20:53:55

Why is having greying pubes embarrassing? Men's pubes also go grey.

If you are embarrassed, just dye them as you would your hair.

wot Mon 08-Feb-16 13:40:27

No one (except medical professionals) have seen mine, so there's no problem really!

Hotmama Thu 11-Feb-16 12:36:06

Don't like hairy pits or pubes so I get rid of both of mine!

Bellanonna Thu 11-Feb-16 12:48:01

Er, fascinating ...... confused

etheltbags1 Sun 14-Feb-16 10:30:50

Etheltbags is back: I feel more reassured now that I know Im not alone with grey 'bits'.

Gagagran Sun 14-Feb-16 10:51:40
