How much water do you drink a day?

I'm trying to be more healthy. So far I'm only managing a cup of hot water first thing in the morning and then a bottle of water throughout the day. I get distracted, forget to drink, or else I just don't fancy water. It's so dull compared to a cup of tea...

I drink very weak roibosch tea during the day- several cups- and black coffee in the morning- no milk, no sugar- so what is the difference?

Jenty61 Thu 02-Jun-16 16:18:52

what I do is fill a 2 ltre jug of water and leave it on the side so I can see how much water Ive drunk throughout the day...I also drink 2 cups of tea and one coffee during the day...

Isn't tea made with water? confused

Very rarely do I drink just water. I drink plenty of fluids though.

Ana Thu 02-Jun-16 16:20:43

I know I don't drink enough water, but a jugful just seems so...daunting!

Anya Thu 02-Jun-16 16:21:32

I think so kitty wink

I add it to my glass if whisky now and then ( just a splash.)

rosesarered Thu 02-Jun-16 16:23:45

And I drink loads of tea.

Not enough apparently.
I am assured by someone who shall not be named that tea and coffee are dehydrating and that I need to drink about 6 medium sized glasses of water a day.
I probably average about 2 (plus teaand more tea).
I drank rooibosch (?) tea for years then suddenly went off it.

Go on Jalima name and shame them!

Roses! shock grin

A jug is a good idea Jenty thank you.

I'm trying to be more healthy too so this is timely. Nothing like the end of a relationship to get you to reexamine your lifestyle! My husband is a big meat eater and I've been having far more fish and vegetarian meals since we split up. Definitely feeling better for it.

I have one of those metal drinks bottle which I fill 2 or 3 times a day and take up to bed with me so I do drink plenty of water and 3/4 cups of tea a day.

Yes, quite, kitty. The fad about tea not being a healthy drink is nonsense. Tea becoming the normal drink of the working classes in Britain is one of the main reasons the industrial revolution started here: it meant, for the first time in history, that people had a safe (i.e. not contaminated) fluid to drink in plentiful quantities.

I never drink coffee unless it is laced with coffee.

There have been lots of papers written and advice given over the years that support the information that it doesn't have to be plain water as long as you are hydrated throughout the day so all drinks, provided they are not loaded with sugar are good and count towards the total. Your body will tell you if it needs fluid - you will be thirsty, skin dry, constipated - all those lovely things. Have a nice cup of tea when you want one. brew

Enough water in my tea, coffee fruit and vegetables. I don't like water.

Tizliz Thu 02-Jun-16 17:36:32

rosesarered no water in my whisky, I know the distillers recommend it but I prefer it nest. I do however drink plenty of other fluids, does wine count ?

Nelliemoser Thu 02-Jun-16 17:56:26

Not much just water but I do drink lots of cups mugs of tea. Best drink ever. I do occasionally drink warmed water, part hot from kettle and part tap. I don't like very cold liquid when I am hot and thirsty.

I drink more water while I am taking my chemo because a handful of tablets twice a day needs a lot of washing down. I take a cool bag to bed with two half litre bottles of water for drinks during the night and for taking early morning tablets. Taking into consideration hot drinks as well I probably drink two litres of fluid a day. If I remember rightly this is the amount given in the information leaflet, when I left hospital.

I meant to say water unless it is laced with coffee. I am like Lona I do not like water, especially the fizzy variety.

I would say that I drink almost a litre of water a day plus tea and coffee. When it is very hot my intake of water rises dramatically. I know very quickly if I am not drinking enough by the colour of my urine which is normally almost colourless. I think it could be possible that as we age we need to drink more as the kidneys are not functioning quite so well and blood pressure tablets can also affect them.

My Spanish Doctor, who is brilliant, says that liquid is liquid no matter what form it comes in ( except alcohol, of course lol)

kittylester Thu 02-Jun-16 18:56:12

Wine might not count as a liquid but it's one of your five a day!
