Appendectomy

You said it recovery after any op takes time don't be in a hurry I had mine out years ago and was in hospital for 8 days now we are discharged very quickly and once home expected to be back to normal we use to tell women wear your dressing gown for a few days then people don't expect too much saying that I'm not saying your oh does ?

Thank you all so much for your kind replies. I think I'll cut myself some slack and rest up some more. I appreciate it takes longer for your body to recover when you're that bit older and I must try and be a bit more patient with myself.

I think because we are discharged so soon after anything these days we, and the family, mainly H's think we are fit to get back to normal. We aren't!!! Take things gently and look after yourself.

DS had an emergency appendectomy in his twenties and he didn't exactly bounce back from it. It will take time.

I had an emergency appendectomy, the full works, some years ago. and it does take it out of you. I think it can be a while before you get rid of the side effects of the anaesthetic. I'm quite sensitive to them and feel wabbit for ages.

I've had labyrinthitis, too, which was simply awful! Maybe you're doing too much, too soon and need more rest. I know boredom can kick in, too, which doesn't help.

hotmama you are being impatient! It sounds as if you're making good progress all things considered ...

It takes a long time for a general anaesthetic to pass through your system completely, apart from any surgery healing.
Sounds like you're doing well but your body still needs rest.
I had my appendix out when I was 9, I know surgery has progressed a lot since then but I was in hospital for a week!
