Am I only one who has problems with underwear and wearing trousers. I see women with leggings and tight jeans and wonder how they aren't uncomfortable like me. I'm continually pulling my nix away from my undercarriage otherwise they rub. I wear cotton nix, am not overweight but do occasionally suffer from bouts of thrush. I am diabetic so I am prone to this. do others out there experience this.

I once saw an advert for a soft plastic pantie pad, designed specifically to eradicate camel toe. I blame the fad for shaving everything off, we never had camel toe in the 60s. I have had to wear fine cotton pants under pjs because of the very rough seams, might as well have been wearing dental floss.

Merlot I call a wedgyb K,U,B.... Knickers up bum!

have sex when you're not fully aroused or you're worried it may hurt – this can lead to vaginal dryness and tightness during sex, which can trigger thrush

I'll just ignore this then, because I'm just not the type of person who lies their and thinks about England, which is probably why I've never had it.

Thanks anyway.

Thrush or sex gononsuch

Teetime Thu 04-Aug-16 12:16:23

Yes not passed on but does feel hot and itchy and better with no knicks on.

Teetime Thu 04-Aug-16 12:16:54

Thrush that is.

I have a friend who uses a hot iron on her knicker gussets, not whilst wearing them!smile She claims it can prevent thrush.
Gononsuch, thrush is not a sexually transmitted disease. It can be picked up by anybody, whether sexually active or not. You are fortunate to have never suffered.

I'm starting to feel very lucky left out of this discussion as my underwear always stays where I put it when I got dressed confused

Having read the comments it makes you wonder why we wear these modern day knickers.

Before nylon was invented we had the good old cotton bloomers with open crotch. Far more airy and hygenic

WilmaKnickersfit Thu 04-Aug-16 17:10:20

shysal I completely understand why your friends irons her knickers like that. If you are prone to thrush (as I used to be), the advice was to wear cotton knickers and wash them on the hottest wash you have, at least 60°. That or go commando! I never went commando, but I should have bought shares in Sloggis! grin

You are lucky if you have never had Thrush Gono because lots of women get it for many reasons (not the ones you've mentioned) and is very painful. I get thrush every time I have antibiotics and the GP gives me tablets to counteract that effect.

Phoenix grin

Bobydog24 I am sorry you are having such a problem. I wonder if you have considered that you might have vaginal atrophy. This can cause considerable irritation down below and discomfort with underwear (as I know only too well). I thought I was getting thrush all the time but it turned out to be irritation from the atrophy. Try using a product like Replens or something and see if that helps. Sorry if this is going away from your original post but so many women have never heard of vaginal atrophy and don't know what irritation and discomfort it can cause. Hope things down below get better soon.

bobbydog24 Thu 04-Aug-16 21:33:07

I have never worn a thong because I hate the idea of something permanently between my buttocks. You know Pheonix I think you are right about vaginal atrophy. Been to docs today and she has put me on hormone supplement for a month. Didn't mention atrophy but did mention dryness. Fingers crossed but not legs, (yet). Thanks for support gransnetters.

I had never heard of either of these things. Perhaps wear your trousers a little looser? Then forget it.

Wearing some sort of pad all the time sounds healthy. Let a little air circulate!

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 04-Aug-16 21:58:26

Why not look at the look of sporting triumph on Maria Sharapova's face? And keep yer eyes off her fanny.

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 04-Aug-16 22:00:36

I have never had knickers with an "open crutch"! Where on earth did you buy them? Did you send away? confused

Crafting Thu 04-Aug-16 22:02:27

Sex shop jings. I suppose you've never heard of those either grin

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 04-Aug-16 22:02:43

crotch!!!

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 04-Aug-16 22:05:29

How long has Ann Summers been around? confused

Surely they didn't sell ladies knickers in actual sex shops? (Perhaps leather ones, I suppose)

Coolgran65 Fri 05-Aug-16 00:19:06

I would also suggest that dryness could be a cause for the underwear discomfort. As well as Replens, Vagisal (sp?) Cream can temporarily help with this. You can get it in the supermarket or chemist for about £4. Replens works for longer.

I speak from occasional experience.

Bellanonna Fri 05-Aug-16 00:47:12

Me neither, jingl . The poster said good old cotton bloomers with open crotch, before nylon was invented. Well Ann Summers hasn't been around that long and it doesn't sound like anything they'd sell anyway. I've been around a fair old time and it's not something I've heard of either.

WilmaKnickersfit Fri 05-Aug-16 02:40:16

Ann Summers shops have been around since 1970! shock The parties started in 1981, but I don't think they ever sold open crotch cotton bloomers! grin

Ann Summers does lovely 'normal' lingerie though. smile

Christingle Fri 05-Aug-16 10:06:17

I haven't worn knickers since I was 15. I only put them on if I have the doctors, I once left them there, forgetting to put them back on! Hate them and love the freedom especially under a maxi dress.

David1968 Fri 05-Aug-16 10:42:46

I recommend Sloggi knickers - the "full-size" sort (that cover you properly -back and front!) And get the right size - no kidding yourself that you are a size smaller....

sue01 Fri 05-Aug-16 10:46:47

So glad it's not just me ! How people can wear knickers and trousers to fly in, is totally beyond me. I'm knickerless whenever I can... and hardly ever wear trousers apart from for the gym. As for tights... yuck... brown legs in summer and socks in winter. Free up the fanny as frequently as you can - you know it makes sense !
