knee replacement surgery

Nick Skelton has been a hero of mine for a very long time. I had one serious riding accident 40 years ago when i was very fortunate not to break my neck, though it was seriously stretched and I was advised it wouldn't be safe/possible to ride for 9 months. I thought they were joking but sadly, they weren't Nellie, I suffer from that past injury and almost everyone I know who continued riding into adult life has a limp, a bad back, sore neck or similar injuries.
But, what a hero and how inspirational is Nick Skelton, aged 58 having broken his neck some years ago, had a hip replacement in recent years but still riding and to Olympic Gold level. Fantastic achievement and inspirational to those of us muddling through with our various aches n pains.

Most will, especially the gymnasts as they put their bodies through sheer torture.

Varian I wondered how that show jumping finished I watched the earlier rounds. I bet the poor guy will suffer from his many past injuries as he gets older.

At 71 - why not ? If it makes her happy, if she's aware of the consequences, if her consultant/GP is ok with it .....why not?

Maybe she has read this .....

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

I'm happy that the replacement was successful and she's living life to the full but I did gasp that she's aiming for en-pointe.

Best not to push it too far!

My own ambition is the downhill slalom
I couldn't ski before so what are the chances?
At the present I will be happy with getting a shower next Monday?

Does seem a bit silly to overuse her replaced knee. I try to be respectful of my hip-replacement and don't put undue strain on it although at the moment its being overused supporting my other hip which is failing at a rate of knots and its protesting quite loudly. I just hope I'm not causing permanent damage to it and it will be fine again once my second hip is replaced.

Sorry,I am not impressed, she is putting too much strain on her knee replacement. That is not the reason she was operated on.
