Well I suffered from quite dreadful and frequent mouth ulcers for years.
Last year I discovered that I am gluten intolerant so have cut out gluten that together with vitamin supplements like Riboflavin, D, E etc. Have almost got rid of them entirely. I get weeks sometimes months now ulcer free -absolutely wonderful!!!!☺

Thanks Tegan!!

There is also one called Arm and Hammer and I think one of the major manufacturers (maybe Sensodyne) do one. Kingfisher seems most popular.

Thank you. Will make a list of all your remedies and see what's available here in Ghana...this time it's a huge white one under my tongue - very sore!

Sodium Laurel Sulphate [sp]kitty. I must remember to get some Kingfisher toothpaste as well.

Sorry, I had the wrong spelling. It's Iglu. www.boots.com/en/Iglu-Rapid-Relief-Gel-Mouth-Ulcer-Treatment-8g_999120/

Igloo paste is quite effective. It forms a sort of skin over the sore area. It isn't as effective as the now-unavailable Adcortyl in Orabase, sadly, but it's better than Bonjela, ime.

Try changing your toothpaste for something like Kingfisher which is available in lots of flavours from health food shops. It is missing an ingredient that I can't remember the name of. DH suffered from dreadful stress related ulcers which have largely disappeared.

My DD used to suffer terribly with mouth ulcers and once had gingivitis of the gums. Corsodyl mouthwash was the only thing that helped.

No, but DH used to suffer many years ago and he would make up a thick paste with bicarbonate of soda and a few drops of water and then apply directly to the ulcer with a cotton bud. He claimed the paste "burns off" the ulcer but I think it stung like hell!

I used to buy Corlan pellets but they are prescription only now.

We always used powdered alum when I was little, but that was for quite small ones. Always worked though.

Do any of you suffer from painful mouth ulcers? I get them every time I am under stress (which is often!) and they last for three weeks or so. I have tried Bonjela, pastilles to suck, gargles, everything, and nothing makes them go away. I am told they are probably viral. I take an Ibuprofen at night to be able to sleep, and eat just blended soups and smoothies for the duration. Any tips?
