Did anyone see the article about eye health and supplements? I'm very tempted to start using the eye supplement tablets that were recommended. Strangely enough, last time I had an eye test was the first time ever that I didn't need an 'upgrade' and over the past couple of years I've been drinking a green smoothie almost identical to the one used in the 'experiment'. May buy the tablets and use them on alternate days with my smoothie, especially as they said that there seemed to be a link with macular degeneration and Alzheimers.

For me a 25% chance of improvement is well worth taking, what you were told is similar to my optician. I do have early signs of dry AMD.

As it happens , I have already planted kale in my veg plot, so I will experiment to see if the improvements in North Germany also work here, I will keep you posted if things look up.

Well, I'm one of the people who believe that the supplements work as I've had good experiences myself. I've got the beginnings of cataracts and was suffering with glare problems in bright sunlight. The summers of 2014 and 2015 I really struggled. However, I put myself on Visual Eyes which contain Lutein and Zeaxanthin, and this summer I have had almost no problem with glare ... and in fact because my eyes seemed as normal as they used to be, I had forgotten my previous problems, and suddenly realised I no longer had to squint in bright sunlight.

MargaretX Pharmaceutical companies can't patent these supplements, hence they will not market them as they couldn't earn money from them.

I collapsed with M.E. 26 years ago, and was bedridden for 2 years with no cure via conventional medicine. Fortunately I was brought up to be open-minded and tried various alternative therapies, hand-in-hand with nutrition and supplements. One has to be discerning, of course, and I am no fool, but some of these things do indeed work, and the key (especially now we have the Net, whereas 26 years ago I only had the library!) is to do your research.

I do have an eye test every 12 months as I have viscous detachment in both eyes, which luckily did not take the retinas with it.

that was to wb, concerning the threat in his last sentence

I have that in one eye. Grandson threw football at my head. Hard. Got a few floaters. Nothing else though.

Jing, if it worked, I would shout it from the rooftops, but don't hold your breath. (but then again it works for rabbits)

I just had a livewell health check and my bad cholesterol is quite high but my good cholesterol balances it out. Down to, according to the nurse, a healthy lifestyle and diet. I must admit to being someone that embraces the latest health fads but not if it's going to break the bank to do so. Agree totally about regular eye/teeth/bp checks etc. Our bodies have to work so hard to stop us getting ill and protecting us from disease; I just feel that anything we can do to help our immune system along can only be a good thing [even if it means an occasional fast to give everything a bit of a holiday]. As I said to the nurse today; I'm going to live forever or die in the attempt. I have shrunk an inch though shock.

Well there you go Tegran, if you live long enough you will shrink to a dot.
