I had a health MOT about five years ago and my cholesterol was 7.3 I went back to my GP who said I would be okay as I have lowish BP (120/60). She said she wouldn't prescribe statins to her worst enemy. This doctor missed my aneurysm symptoms and sent me to an eye clinic as I had double vision and my right eye was closing up. Anyway after 7 months, I was projectile vomiting so she sent me to eye casualty at the hospital whereupon they kept me in and then I was sent to Addenbrookes where they operated on me (successfully!) She has now retired.
Anyway, I had another blood test yesterday by the practice nurse and they phoned me early this morning to go back on Monday, probably to be put on statins which I wanted all along. My main concrete is not trusting the doctors now and I never go to them, only the nurse to get my tablets renewed. I've got several questions about stations which I'm writing down to discuss with nurse, but what do GNers think? I have been eating rubbish but can I carry on eating it when I'm on statins? I love full cream milk etc. I'm 66 5' 6" tall and weigh 11 st ..10 pounds. Help!
