Sore Eyes

At this time of year with the cold wind and low sun my eyes become very uncomfortable.
I like to sooth them with a cotton wool pad soaked in an eye lotion.
I have read that Witch Hazel can also be used, but I thought this may be a bit harsh on the eye area.
Does anyone have a favourite way to relieve tired and sore eyes?
I have also tried cucumber but it keeps falling off! grin

My mum used to give me a small bowl of cold tea to use. Very soothing actually!

Use Optrex eye drops nowadays.

My mother used cold teabags, also used to cure styes. Eye drops are certainly much easier but I try to prevent the sore eyes by wearing sunglasses in the cold wind and low sun.
Not tried witch hazel but it is soothing so I should think it would be ok.
Liz Earle Eyebright is good, especially if you keep the bottle in the fridge.

DH got some Optrex sore eyes drops from the chemist which contain witch hazel. He had a very sore eye last week which flared up out of nowhere. He asked the pharmacist for advice and that was what he recommended but in the end he went to the docs and he prescribed antibacterial drops.
