Does anyone know anything about this illness?
A school friend of dd2 was diagnosed with this 19 years ago and has became more and more unwell as the years have passed. She now looks like a very old lady instead of a 40 year old in the prime of her life and can only weigh around 6 stone. She's in constant pain, is often in hospital until the medics can stabilise her and on oramorph pretty much daily. She was admitted again last week and has been placed in an induced coma in ICU. It appears to be a very bad situation but her husband is saying it's only "until they sort her out." i don't know if he's in denial or if she will come home.

I hope your friend pulls through Katek.

Sadly a friend of mine died earlier this year of pancreatitis. He was only 58 and had been hospitalised numerous times since first being diagnosed about five years ago.

The poor girl Katek. I sorry that I don't know anything that would help, this caught my eye because DDs mother in law had a severe attack of what was eventually diagnosed as pancreatitis two months ago. She was discharged after 10days and seems to have recovered well.
I hope it goes well for your DDs friend.

Oh dear let's hopes she recovers I had pancreatitis many years ago when a gallstone caused some trouble. I had my gall bladder removed and never had any more trouble, It's horrible and painful. Is there an underlying problem. Poor girl

I believe it's a genetic in her case as her grandmother died from the same illness. It's certainly not alcohol related which seems to be one of the main cause of this disease.
