Advice please re cataracts

I would follow the advice of your optician.

I work in an eye clinic. Your eye will take between 4-6 weeks to settle down.
You may find that you need to take the lens out of your glasses. Speak to the optician but usually people get the other eye done else you may feel quite unbalanced.

Thank you franjess. I was thinking that, as it is very nearly two weeks since it was done, it wouldn't improve any more but it seems as though it may. I am just trying to give the matter some thought before I see the optician.

Thanks for that franjess, I had complex cataract removal on one eye a couple of months ago under GA due to complexity. The other eye has a cataract but not as advanced or limiting as the original one was. The surgeon said he'd list me for removal of the other cataract under a local because although its not restricting me in the way the other one was, he believes I'll feel more balanced. I've been debating whether to leave it for a while but your comments suggest I should go ahead.

I had my right eye done three ears ago under a local. Distance vision is excellent but I cannot read with that eye unless I am wearing reading glasses. I wear a day lens in my left eye but the correction is far less strong and this enables me to rely on my left eye for reading and close work. Indeed, when the day lens is removed, I can read perfectly well with that eye.

If the left eye eventually develops a cataract, I will ask for a less acute distance correction . It is not uncommon for the vision correction to not be the same dor both eyes yet a balance is achieved. I know several people who chose this and thus blend distance with reading and close work with relative ease. Ask advice from your optician and opthalmic surgeon.

Thank you for your advice. It ended up being a bit of a no brainer when my eyes were tested. They had operated on my bad eye and it is perfect distance wise now. I managed to read the two rows below the 20 20 vision one! I couldn't read any of the charts with the other eye.
I'll just make do with Poundland reading glasses until things settle down and I can have proper reading ones.
