Welcome to a new you. This thread is for anyone to post regular updates on their improved health and lifestyle, be it food related, excercise or doing something for yourself which helps your mental health. I started out last September at 16 stones 10 pounds, now I weigh 15 stones 2 pounds. For the first time in years I am going to the hairdressers later. Get ready for No Snack February, there's a few days to eat those biscuits ? or chocolate bar ?. Good luck and I hope I'm not on my own doing this! ?Xxx

Grannypiper, flowers
Soon be Spring!

Cherrytree59 Fri 03-Feb-17 17:28:23

I have posted on the no snack thread
But well done wot
I'm also on the s/world diet.
I did well on it last autumn but then there was Xmas!
I am also trying to do it by myself as our local S/W leader only reads weight loss out and gives encouragement but does not do any helpful talks that I found useful at weight watchers meetings.

Good luck everybody with everything healthy.
smile

I think there's a lot to be said for drawing a line and starting again grannypiper.

I'm a week and a half into my Slimming World journey - joined online as I don't want to go to a group. DD is doing it too. We both need to lose a lot of unhealthy excess weight. Last week I'd lost 1.8 kg but so far this week my weight's been static or even risen a little - and I've been very rigorous! I weigh myself daily and have done for years, to keep track. I'm struggling to exercise more though. Tried aqua-aerobics, but after week two, the soles and heels of my feet felt as if someone had hammered them relentlessly for hours! MIssing out this week because of other commitments. Feeling jaded, guts dodgy, tired and lumpy :-(

Can I join your thread Rubylady? Have a lot of health issues, as well as personal ones, but have really enjoyed looking at this thread, and as I need inspiration, and have found it in this thread, would like to linger more. My hat is off to all of you!!!

MissAdventure Wed 08-Feb-17 14:56:35

Bubbly,
You can put your hat back on, because I've neither cut down on eating or smoking blush
Oh well, if at first you don't succeed, and all that..
Will try harder, I promise.

Badenkate Wed 08-Feb-17 16:05:37

It does go up and down Rowantree, but 1.8kgs is a very good starting loss! Make sure you're drinking plenty and eating all the syns you are allowed. I think it's tempting to cut down on them because you think you will loose weight more quickly, but SW doesn't work like that.

If you are on Facebook, there's a very good group on there called 'How Many Syns??' and it's full of ideas in what you can eat, and if you're not sure, then post a query and someone will answer.

Keep going, and don't give up. I'm working on 0.75Kg/week loss - which is a reasonable loss rate and is achieveable. Don't look at the ones who say 'I lost 10lbs this week' - quickly off is quickly on again, I think. At 0.75Kg/week, by the end of the year I will be at my target weight - and I've got a lot to lose!

Jalima Wed 08-Feb-17 17:30:06

Help! I am still thinking in stones and lbs although I can 'visualise' metric measurements eg centimetres.

Badenkate Wed 08-Feb-17 23:42:12

I use kgs because I have metric scales and lived on the continent for so long I just got used to them. 1lb is approx 0.5kg (although really a little less). So I'm aiming to lose about 1.5lbs/week, which seems reasonable to me. Interestingly (well it is to me), the German Swiss will ask for a pfund of something if they want half a kg.

Jalima Wed 08-Feb-17 23:47:45

Thank you; my scales do show both but I still think in stones - kilos sound even worse!

Badenkate Thu 09-Feb-17 08:31:13

Actually, I like kilos because the number drops quickly every time you go down (or up) a couple of lbs. It's very satisfying to see you've gone from 87 to 86 in big numbers on the scale - that's if you're using the electronic ones.

Badenkate Thu 09-Feb-17 08:32:23

It takes a long time to go down a number in stones ?

Anya Thu 09-Feb-17 09:19:33

grin

Badenkate Thu 09-Feb-17 10:24:02

Weigh in day today and I've lost 0.75kg this week, which is about 1.5lbs, so altogether I've lost nearly 10lbs since the beginning of the year. grin I know it's not a fast loss, but it's really just done by tweaking what we normally eat, and avoiding sweet treats, apart from those which fit into Slimming World.

Anya Thu 09-Feb-17 11:02:22

Well done! I think that's quite a lot for 5 or 6 weeks.

Kacee Thu 09-Feb-17 11:48:00

Weight Watchers weigh in was last Tuesday. Lost 3.5 lbs making a total of 10.5lbs to week 4. Only another 7 stone 1 lb to go smile

Badenkate Thu 09-Feb-17 12:34:35

Well done Kaycee, that's a great loss.

Shirleyw Fri 10-Feb-17 11:36:46

Can I join in? Such a good idea.....lost 2lbs this week....not snacked and low carb suits me.....lost 3 stone last year then tried to maintain for a few months Now back to the drawing board to lose a couple more stone......

Badenkate Fri 10-Feb-17 12:16:47

Hi Shirleyw, all are welcome. 2lbs is great - are you doing a specific diet or just avoiding carbs as much as possible?

wot Fri 10-Feb-17 14:07:08

And I'm still off the cigarettes!! (Still in a ratty mood, though)

Jalima Fri 10-Feb-17 14:16:08

They go down more quickly in lbs though
or not as the case may be.

Why is it I have tried to be healthy, low carb etc yet DH decides he needs to lose weight too, does very little about it except eat very slightly less but still a lot of the wrong things and is still drinking some beer - yet he has lost more weight than me over 2 weeks?
