Constant nausea can be a sign of liver disease. He needs to see the doctor again. If you're not happy with his opinion, see another doctor. You are entitled to do this.

Could be a combination of gastric upset and high anxiety. Back to the doctor seems sensible.

I think if necessary that 26yr old male needs "dragging back" to the doctor by a parent or such. Given that many men are notorious about not seeking medical advice.

I wondered if it was stress related.... I hope the doctor helps him get this sorted soon.

Eating trash food surely wouldn't do this, most teenagers/ young people live on it and I really think that's a red herring .....Get him to go back to the doctor for some tests it's pointless us all diagnosing over the internet

Helicobacter Pylori

I think your son should go back to the doctor and further tests should be done. Perhaps he has some form of intestinal infection. I think the tablets he was given just relieve the symptoms and what is needed is a proper diagnosis.

Thank you all. Someone elsewhere has suggested it could be a vitamin B12 deficiency. It might well be. But it could also be a complete deficiency of every vitamin, given how poor his diet has been recently. So I have got him some multivitamins on the off chance. It won't do him any harm anyway.

He has been very stressed at work gillybob, so even if that is not the cause, it won't be helping things.

I will also get him some travel sickness pills cherrytree. He's desperate enough to try anything!

Teehee my grammar in the first sentence could be better - I don't mean at the moment I was diagnosed, I mean in the weeks before I was diagnosed and treated.

Hi hurdygurdy - I was very nauseous when I was diagnosed with Helicobacter Pylori.

You may be on to something with his recent diet too and I guess it can take a while to return to normal (if that's the culprit).

But I'm sure the doc will get to the bottom of it, your son just needs to go back if it doesn't improve. I hope he feels better soon.

wonder if it could be Gall Bladder , he really needs to go back and see the doc though

Inner ear and balance can cause nausea.

Has you DS tried travel sickness pill just as an off chance?

gillybob Sat 08-Jul-17 20:49:39

Mind you it could be something else too so please so please don't take too much notice if me. I'm not a doctor . smile

gillybob Sat 08-Jul-17 20:47:56

Sorry HurdyGurdy I should have said . Silly me. You have probably googled it by now . smile

It can be really horrible . Not just a simple case of indigestion . I used to take a bite or two of food and feel like I was so full I could burst . Then this horrible feeling of having cotton wool stuck in my throat. It got so bad I was referred for an endoscopy .
Oh btw not sure if your son has been suffering from stress lately as this can make it a lot worse .
I wish him well x

I've not heard of GERD before, so off now for a quick Google. Thank you gillybob x

gillybob Sat 08-Jul-17 20:26:18

Sounds like GERD to me HurdyGurdy. Made much worse with ready meals, takeaways and alcohol, pastries etc . ( Also things like fresh orange and coffee effected me) . I used to try and make myself burp and feel better for a shirt while then back to normal. Got so bad at night I had to sleep sitting up as I couldn't lie down.

My son has been feeling sick/nauseous for the past three and a half weeks. He has no appetite, and just says he feels as though vomit is rising and he is about to be sick, but then it turns out it is gas. Once he burps he feels a bit better but the nausea is still there.

He went to the GP this week, who feels it is gastric related and has given him some Omeprazole, but he doesn't feel these are helping. I am not sure how long they should take to start having an effect, and of course, it may be that he is just being too impatient and they will kick in soon.

It is affecting his sleep too - the nausea is waking him and then he can't get back to sleep

All he has been eating for the past two weeks really, is toast. I have made him a few nice dinners, but his appetite is low and he picks at them but doesn't each much.

This all started when my husband and I were away on holiday, so son had to fend for himself. He's no chef, so I suspect it would have been a lot of ready meals and takeaways. Not sure if these were the culprits, but would have thought any ill effects from that should have passed by now.

Has anyone else come across anything similar, and have any ideas of what he can do to get better. Obviously he's still taking the tablets the doctor gave him, and will go back in another week or so if he doesn't start feeling better, but if there is anything he can do/take in the meantime, he's all for it.

He doesn't take any other medication.
