Watch and weep

Yes, also frightening is that private companies can make pills and charge what they like for them once they become generic. If only the government could afford to create a nationalised biopharmaceutical company to manufacture generic pills for the NHS at cost price, or at a reasonable fixed level of profit. Or someone like Bill Gates or Richard Branson could take up the challenge, as a philanthropic venture, instead of first making millions and then donating it to Charity ( which is of course also very worthy).

Except that some of Branson's billions come from the NHS via tax havens.
If he wanted to be philanthropic, he could just pay his tax properly, and stop privatising the NHS.
