After a cold...

Sorry this is so trivial when I can see how many people have posted serious health problems. But... does anyone else know what I mean when I say after the main bit of a cold is over there is this weird feeling like you can't hear, smell, or taste properly and it feels like you're experiencing the world through the wrong end of a telescope? I hate it cos it makes me feel as if I'm still ill somehow. Sometimes it goes on for a week or two before I feel I am part of everything again.

Just asking here because when I say that to people about the wrong end of a telescope or a tunnel feeling they look at me as if I am weird :D

Yes - I'm in that phase now - cold has all but gone but still feel not quite there. I lost my sense of smell 7 years ago due to a viral infection and although some of it has come back it goes again completely with a cold so nothing tastes of anything and appetite is poor. Hope you feel better soon.

Recuperation period. Quite normal really, but I know what you mean.

That's me today and a bit flat emotionally - is it too early for a G & T?

Lol! Maybe that would make me feel better too :D

G&T is the favoured prescription for a cold - 4 hourly I believe.

Well DH and I are relaxing with Prosecco and Creme de Cassis - and neither of us is getting over a cold! wink Can recommend.

Same here, just at the back end of a cold, my baxters tin of Tom soup tested awful yesterday ,,! Not baxters fault just mine. The worse things I find now is doing my work, which is a checkout operator at supermarket. I can't get my tissue out every two mins, then I try to look in th reflection of the scanner to see if it dribbling(sorry)hmm ""!!

Bikergran Could you wear a mask over your mouth and nose, say it’s so you don’t catch any germs!

I've had what must be the flu for just a week now-know just what you mean. I feel so yucky and anything tastes strange too.

I am beginning to wonder whether mine was actually flu after all. Going by the people who also caught it and those who should have but didn't, it seems to be the ones who didn't have the jab who caught this. I usually do but for some reason this year decided I'd take a break from it

I've had no sense of smell for years. Nasal sprays to keep polyps under control, five nasal polyp ops and another in the offing. Major surgery on my sinuses above my eyes. (Sinuses are a mess). I would just love to even smell a horrible smell. Go in Lush my husband has to go straight out because the smell is overpowering. I smell nothing. Affects taste as well. Please be grateful its just a short term issue. 20 plus years for me.
