Body temperature

My usual temp is around 36 - for that last few days it has been between 38.6 and 39.5 - and I feel truly dreadful - I have not even washed my face or combed my hair today, nor really eaten anything. I have been sleeping most of the day. I so very very seldom throw a high temp that I am not sure whether this matters much or not. The only other time it happened a few years ago I had pneumonia.

I have headache, joint pains, nausea, earache, sore throat, hacking wheezy cough - I am just creeping about. Even if I rang a doc they would not be able to get to me in the snow drifts, so I am just taking paracetamol but it is not bringing it down.

Should I be concerned about this or just rife it out? - I guess it is flu.

Ask the doctor lucky. I would hope both from an ethical and human angle he or she would check you over. If not phone again just for yourself stressing your symptoms are worsening , your history and your carer role - if you develop pneumonia and have to go to hospital your husband can’t manage alone. Sounds plain daft to me or maybe a simple lack of understanding by the call handler.

A second doc rang in relation to me and she agreed that it was crazy that we could not both be dealt with together so she is arranging for the visiting doc to take a listen to my chest too. Common sense prevails.

I think you have set a lot of minds at rest Lucky!!

Unless you are both sent to hospital, please let us know the outcome.

Now, keep warm and do the bare minimum!!

jura2 Sun 04-Mar-18 15:33:31

Hope you are OK Lucky - do send news when you can x

cornergran Sun 04-Mar-18 15:35:50

That's a relief lucky, please rest when you can.

Nandalot Sun 04-Mar-18 16:46:14

Hope doctor gets to you both soon, Lucky so that you can start the right treatment.

Luckygirl Sun 04-Mar-18 17:42:51

Doc came and we are both now on antibiotics. Not wild about this as I already have the squits, but he clearly felt this was the right thing. I have swallowed one amoxycillin and one imodium. I hope we will start to feel better soon - I am just shivery all the time and feeling awful. Doc thought we would feel better soon.

Thanks for all your kindness and concern. Much appreciated.

Lucky I m sure no doctor coming out to one will be heartless enough to not see the other after all it will save them another call out
If I m wrong and they do only see your husband please call 111 straight away again for yourself and explain why

Luckygirl Sun 04-Mar-18 18:00:09

First of all he thought he was just seeing OH, but I pointed out to him that I had also been referred and the doc I spoke to said we would both be seen. He trawled through his laptop and decided that - yes he could see me too.

Maggiemaybe Sun 04-Mar-18 18:03:16

I hope you're both feeling better soon, Luckygirl.

Just picked this up again.

I expect you are still feeling dreadful, especially at this time of the day.

Hopefully 48hrs will see you beginning to feel better, but what a rotten time for you both!

Will look in tomorrow - look after yourself lucky

Things got a bit more complicated and I spent the night in A&E - nothing relevant to my flu.

Last year I had a sudden acute pain in the top of my abdomen and passed out and was taken in by ambulance - the pain subsided eventually and I was sent home. After this episode my liver function tests were haywire for a few weeks. Exactly the same thing happened last night - sudden really bad pain in the same place and I lost consciousness - came round to find a para-medic putting up a drip. After about an hour in A&E the pain subsided - but I then had to wait 6 hours to be seen by a doc. Liver function tests slightly off kilter again. The thought is that it might be bile duct spasm, but previous scans show no stones or anything. It is a complete mystery - I am just glad that I do not live alone, or it would be a bit scary.

Lovely family all rallied round - SIL stayed here with OH overnight to help him; DD3 came in with me and sat up all night with me.

I seem to have recovered fine from that episode - but still have a temperature!

BlueBelle Mon 05-Mar-18 15:51:33

Oh dear lucky it never rains but it pours that sounds horrible so glad you ve got family rallying round and hope you soon feel 100 times better ?

Nandalot Mon 05-Mar-18 16:27:33

My goodness, you are having a time of it. Hope you soon feel completely better.

jura2 Mon 05-Mar-18 17:00:42

oh my goodness Lucky - you are going through the mill. Hope your health issues are soon better understood so can be treated. Hugsx

And how is OH?

kittylester Mon 05-Mar-18 17:24:53
