Body temperature

My usual temp is around 36 - for that last few days it has been between 38.6 and 39.5 - and I feel truly dreadful - I have not even washed my face or combed my hair today, nor really eaten anything. I have been sleeping most of the day. I so very very seldom throw a high temp that I am not sure whether this matters much or not. The only other time it happened a few years ago I had pneumonia.

I have headache, joint pains, nausea, earache, sore throat, hacking wheezy cough - I am just creeping about. Even if I rang a doc they would not be able to get to me in the snow drifts, so I am just taking paracetamol but it is not bringing it down.

Should I be concerned about this or just rife it out? - I guess it is flu.

Morning lucky! Thanks for the update. I 'feel' you sound a little better. Hope you get your shower! brew

Luckygirl Tue 06-Mar-18 09:56:33

Thanks for the good wishes everyone. Still got high temp, but need to try and shower this morning as I feel perfectly filthy - but every tiny action is a real effort and flakes me out.

I plan to see my GP about these sudden attacks of abdominal pain - no-one seems to now what it is, but at the point when it strikes I am really quite poorly. This time I was unconscious for quite a long time - I remember calling out in pain and then nothing till there was a paramedic putting a needle in my arm. OH said that I was grey and clammy and my BP was in my boots. The paramedic told me that they could not give me any pain relief till I was stable. It has happened twice now - absolutely indentically. There must be something causing it. I suspect bile duct, as I have no gall bladder. Or pancreas?

I am not wild about a further raft of investigations really.

Hope all fellow bug-ridden gransnetters are beginning to surface from this dreaded lurgy.

So sorry to hear you are both ill and you could certainly have done without trip to A&E! Good that family rallied round. Just rest and drink lots and hopefully improve in a couple of days. Hope you can get some sleep tonight.

Hi there - and thanks for your concern. We are both completely flaked out - temp still over 40; I seem to be getting nowhere and have no energy at all - I do need a shower sometime! Please steer clear of folk with the flu - you seriously do not want this. DD2 has it too and is also on antibiotics with a chest infection. Roll on spring.

What a time you are having Lucky

Hopefully the hospital provided some medication to bring your temperature down.
Good to know you have family helping you both.

I expect you gave your DH quite a fright.

Wishing you both a Speedy recovery flowers

Just caught up. So sorry you’ve had more illness. As kitty said, enough now. Wishing you a peaceful, comfortable night.

MawBroon Mon 05-Mar-18 18:43:20

Luckygirl. I was in A&E for 5 hours last week and the eventual probable diagnosis was Gastritis. SIL was similarly ill a couple of years ago and very ill indeed with it. Pancreatitis is another possibility, but I understand both are treatable, even reversible.
Were you taking Ibuprofenor aspirin for your temperature perhaps? Both would go for your gastric juices.

Lucky, my dh was taken away in an ambulance after passing out with pain and it was thought to poss be a heart attack. However, nothing was found at the time but a scan was arranged and it was discovered that he has multiple large gall stones. Doc reckons it was a gall stone.

Take care of yourself and never hesitate to ring 111 or 999.
He hasn't had a further episode but is awaiting treatment for the gall stones.

Things got a bit more complicated and I spent the night in A&E - nothing relevant to my flu.

Last year I had a sudden acute pain in the top of my abdomen and passed out and was taken in by ambulance - the pain subsided eventually and I was sent home. After this episode my liver function tests were haywire for a few weeks. Exactly the same thing happened last night - sudden really bad pain in the same place and I lost consciousness - came round to find a para-medic putting up a drip. After about an hour in A&E the pain subsided - but I then had to wait 6 hours to be seen by a doc. Liver function tests slightly off kilter again. The thought is that it might be bile duct spasm, but previous scans show no stones or anything. It is a complete mystery - I am just glad that I do not live alone, or it would be a bit scary.

Lovely family all rallied round - SIL stayed here with OH overnight to help him; DD3 came in with me and sat up all night with me.

I seem to have recovered fine from that episode - but still have a temperature!

Just picked this up again.

I expect you are still feeling dreadful, especially at this time of the day.

Hopefully 48hrs will see you beginning to feel better, but what a rotten time for you both!

Will look in tomorrow - look after yourself lucky
