Thinking of you, gilly, and hoping today's appt went well.

Hoping the consultants were able to persuade him to rest yesterday and you're able to take a break over the weekend. What you decide to do going forward with the business can wait - the main thing is to get him to slow down. It's hard to get off the roundabout when it's going full tilt I know but you only have one life and need to take care of it. And I agree - your sister needs to think more about her dad that her dog for a change!

Thank you everyone again for your kind words and good wishes. Yesterday’s appointment went very well. His BP is down significantly (it’s still high but much lower than it was). Consultant pleased that his facial expression is much better (not such a pronounced droop on one side). His speech was also a lot better am, but he seems to slur more as the day goes on and he gets tired. Said too early to do bloods again so we’re back on Monday . I mentioned about him taking himself to work etc. And the consultant just shrugged and said “from what you have told me I don’t think you’re going to change him” then he told DH that he really must take it easy .
I had the grandchildren overnight last night as their parents were at a funeral. I took them to see Peter Rabbit which we thoroughly enjoyed (and I can highly recommend) Honestly they are no bother at all except the house it like a battle ground.

Well the consultant has pronounced "take it easy" and he will either do so or not! It must be very frustrating for you.

If the Consultant didn't throw up his hands in horror and tell your H he must not do it, I can only think you must live with it whilst doing all you can to make life easier for both of you.
I really feel for your worries though and hope you can learn to cope with the strain.
I am sure it will get better as time passes and you can both relax a bit more and adjust to a new way of living with it.??

Would love to see Peter Rabbit, I have seen trailers, it looks excellent.

Several of my GC are really frightened by the TV Peter Rabbit - I think it is Mr McGregor who sets them off.

Oh it’s not scary at all lucky but it is laugh out loud funny . The “bunnies” are just too cute and we all wanted to bring one home .

Your DH sounds very 'determined' (a better word than 'stubborn' ) and, as long as he does what the consultant says, that should stand him in good stead for a good recovery.

Gilly have been away and only just seen the thread. So sorry that you have this on top of everything else.

Glad things are sounding a bit more positive, gilly. Hope your DH will be able to take advantage of the weekend and have a really good rest.

Sorry to hear about your DH . He has been lucky to have this minor stroke with no devastating effects but needs to reduce his stress whatever it takes . My son aged 40 has had 3 mini strokes and has lost vision on the right side , is very forgetful and has poor concentration . He is under the care of a Neurologist and takes medication to prevent another stroke happening. He has had to give up work and just works in a charity shop 3 days a week , he also has had to move back home to live with me . We struggle financially as I am retired and he only gets £400 a month in benefits. Is there anyone who could help with the business while your DH recovers ? Is it worth thinking about letting the business go , it would mean getting used to a differ\rent lifestyle with less money but it is worth thinking about . xx

gilly my DH had 3 strokes close together 9 years ago. All with temporary loss of movement in hands. He (thank God) had been ok since though I worried myself to death for months afterwards. I am sorry you have had this worry. As others have mentioned, could your DH not sell his business to the younger workers allowing him to retire while the business continues? Wishing you both the best.

The consultant visit sounds positive gilly. Hope you’ve both been able to rest a bit over the weekend. That film sounds a tonic. Wonderful if I can sneak in without children .
